WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay, PayPal, or cash.
Dawn’s story is one of sheer heartbreak & such sadness & disappointment for the beginning of his life. Dawn is the most joyous soul & that’s what makes his story absolutely soul destroying to think about the horrific situation he ended up in & who could ever do something like this to Dawn. Dawn ended up in the police pound in China where dogs go to die, the dogs sit in filth day & night, some end up with skin conditions so severe you don’t know what breed of dog they are. They are not fed properly, sit in water & living in pure hell & the smell of urine on them & the staining of their fur is unbearable. Working with one of our truly devoted, dedicated & absolutely outstanding Chinese rescuers they rescued Dawn & many others for us. Without this beloved rescuer & their devoted rescuers going in & getting Dawn out, his fate was death. They transferred Dawn to their own rescue & covid had hit & the waiting began. What was different about Dawn was, the vets & rescuers discovered Dawn was paralyzed & a humane had done this to him. He was paralyzed from the waste down, so he lost the use of his 2 back legs & was now incontinent. Along with Dawn & many other sweet souls they got well & healthy & waited to come to the US. This became a very extremely expensive situation with covid. We were finally able to bring everyone back through cargo which is an astronomical expense per dog, but through cargo Dawn was not allowed to be brought back so poor sweet beautiful Dawn had to continue to sit & wait until a flight volounteer was found & that amazing angel came along for Dawn & helped change his life & bring him home to us in the US.
We believe every sweet soul such as Dawn & his friends deserves to be loved & cherished & given the chance to have a wonderful life. Now Dawn is looking for a special family to cherish him & be patient with him.
Dawn was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely grateful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough.
Dawn was bought back to the USA where he is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home.
This beautiful soul is nothing but a joy. Dawn’s foster mum said Dawn is the brightest pup in the house. He happily bops around after the other pups never letting his disability slow him down. He loves cuddles and toys and will happily sit with you on the couch. His favorite things include a soft blanket, a cozy bed and a few squeaky toys. He gets super excited to be outside without his diaper but extra precautions do have to be taken to protect his feet and legs from scrapes. He does really well sleeping in a bed on the floor. The perfect family for Dawn will be someone with patience & a willingness to baby this adorable guy. He gets along well with other dogs and uses his cart for walks. Dawn also loves to be picked up & held & given lots of love.
This little man is incontinent & will need a diaper but also enjoys the freedom of not wearing one.
This sweet soul after everything he has endured is so forgiving. Dawn is nothing but joy & happiness & he does not have a mean bone in his body. We have had him with many breeds of dogs & he has done well with different size dogs & enjoys their company so we are looking for a home for this boy with a friend. He likes all sizes dogs.
Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Dawn & we have been excited to change his world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. This little man has energy so in his new forever home they have to remember he has quite a bit of energy. He is very playful with dogs & gets along with dogs & adores them so he needs a friend or friends in the home, this is mandatory.
Dawn has learnt to ride in the car & rides beautifully in the car, but we suggest a car seat for Dawn so he can see out the window. With Dawn we are only looking for a crate free home only for this lovely little man chap. We are also looking for a forever home for Dawn where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them.
Dawn is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be very patient with him & understanding. Dawn will come with his cart which was made for him in China.
Dawn has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & we have had him currently in a loving foster home with other dogs & he enjoys their company so we are looking for a home only with a playful dog or other playful dogs in the & this is mandatory for his adoption. A fully fenced backyard is also mandatory for Dawn’s new forever home.
Dawn is now roughly 13.6 lbs & has put on quite a bit of weight since coming to the US, he is 3 years old & perhaps a poodle havanese mix, he is neutered by laser by our wonderful vets & microchipped, had blood work done, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed.
Dawn is paralyzed & cannot use his back legs but gets around so well & is an absolute pleasure of a boy.
We have spent far more on Dawn with paying for his boarding fees, microchip, his medical care, blood work. Dawn was neutered by laser by our wonderful vets, received shots, dewormer etc.
Dawn has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats.
We were not there when Dawn was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is.
As with all of our rescues & Dawn’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Dawn potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Dawn & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Webex due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Dawn who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this very spirited little chap.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Dawn has an adoption fee of $850 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
