Story
Est. DOB: 07/11/2014 Current Weight: 13lbs Adoption fee: $95 (Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate current vaccines, microchip, and preventative flea treatment.) Meet Champ, a remarkable little poodle mix with a heart that's bigger than any obstacle life has placed in his way. Rescued from Mexico, Champ is blind and is also believed to have significant hearing loss. While he experiences the world differently than most dogs, he has adapted with incredible resilience and simply wants what every dog deserves—a loving family to call his own. Gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully quiet, Champ enjoys the company of calm dogs and most likely gets along well with cats. He will thrive in a peaceful home where he can build confidence, learn the layout of his surroundings, and spend his days relaxing near the people he loves. Life with Champ is all about the simple things: a soft bed, a predictable routine, gentle affection, and a safe space to explore. Because he cannot see and likely has very limited hearing, a home without stairs is the safest choice and will help them navigate with confidence. Special needs doesn't mean less love—it simply means loving in a different way. Champ has so much affection to share with the person willing to give them a chance. His quiet spirit, trusting nature, and unwavering appreciation for kindness make every moment together incredibly rewarding. If you're ready to open your heart to a truly extraordinary companion, Champ is waiting to show you that love doesn't depend on sight or sound—it simply comes from the heart. While we do our best to assess each dogs habits and behaviors, we cannot guarantee that any dog is fully potty trained or will not have accidents after adoption. Changes in environment, routine, stress levels, and transition into a new home can all impact a dogs house-training habits. Patience, consistency, and continued training may be needed as the dog adjusts to their new home. Breed descriptions are provided as a general estimate based on the dog's size, shape, and appearance. These descriptions are not definitive and should be considered a "guestimate." Story
Est. DOB: 07/11/2023 Current Weight: 14lbs Adoption fee: $495 (Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate current vaccines, microchip, and preventative flea treatment.) Nordi is a sweet female Poodle mix who is looking for a very special person to help her discover that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. Nordi is extremely shy and cautious, and she needs someone who will be patient and willing to let her come out of her shell at her own pace. She is a quiet girl who would thrive in a calm, peaceful home without young children, where she can take her time building trust and confidence. Nordi may not be the dog who runs up to greet you right away, but with patience, kindness, and consistency, we believe her loving personality will slowly begin to shine. If you're looking for a gentle soul and are willing to give her the time she needs, Nordi could be the special girl you've been waiting for. Story
Jean story hasn`t been an easy one. She recently arrived at the shelter in heartbreaking condition. Severely matted, covered in fecal matter, and very under-socialized with people. After receiving the medical care she needed, Jean is now ready to begin the next chapter of her life with a patient and understanding family.Jean is looking for a very special home with adopters who have experience with shy or under-socialized dogs and understand that trust cannot be rushed. Right now, the world is a scary place for her. New people, unfamiliar environments, and everyday experiences are overwhelming, so her future family will need to be comfortable reading canine body language, allowing her space when she needs it, and celebrating the small victories along the way.Based on what we`ve observed, Jean has likely had very limited experiences outside of a kennel environment. She will thrive in a calm, predictable home where she can decompress and learn that the world can be a safe place. We believe she would benefit greatly from living with a calm, confident, and social small dog who can help show her the ropes and build her confidence. At this time, we believe Jean could do well in a home with cats. Due to her sensitive nature, she is not a good match for homes with small children or frequent visitors. A quiet household with a consistent routine will give her the best opportunity to flourish.Jean is not looking for perfection, she`s looking for patience. The family who gives her the time, compassion, and understanding she deserves will have the privilege of watching her slowly discover what it means to feel safe, loved, and at home.If you think you could be the right match for her, we invite you to visit the shelter and submit an adoption application. We will be spending time getting to know interested adopters to ensure she is matched with the home that best meets her needs and sets her up for a lifetime of success.Send an email to frontdesk@auburnvalleyhs.org for more information or to set up a meet & greet. Stop by the shelter during regular business hours to visit available pets. AVHS is open 6 days a week 11am-6pm, closed Sundays, adoptions wrap up at 5:30pm each day.

Story
🐾💚Meet Remy💚🐾 16 Pounds of Pure Joy Seeks Full-Time Running Buddy & Co-Sleeper! Hello potential best friend! My name is Remy, and I am a one-year-old, 16-pound bundle of dynamic energy, sharp brains, and unconditional love. I am officially neutered, fully up-to-date on all my vaccines, and ready to find my permanent home base. If you are looking for a sidekick who is equal parts athletic champion and expert bedtime cuddler, look no further! My Daily Routine & Favorite ActivitiesI might be on the smaller side, but my heart and my energy levels are absolutely massive! I am looking for an active human who loves to move just as much as I do. My absolute favorite things in the world include:The Need for Speed: I love to run! Whether we are jogging around the neighborhood, hitting a trail, or sprinting in the yard, I am your guy. Toy Time: I am a toy enthusiast. If it squeaks, bounces, or can be fetched, I will happily play with it for hours. Making Best Friends: I am incredibly social. I love every single dog I meet and consider everyone a future playmate. My Special Talents & Treats My foster family tells me I am incredibly smart. I pick up on things super fast and love having a job to do or a puzzle to solve. If you want to teach me some cool new tricks, all you need is a bag of freeze-dried treats. I will do absolute backflips for them! I am highly motivated, eager to please, and ready to show you just how fast a clever guy like me can learn. The Bedtime Routine (My Best Feature)While I am a high-speed athlete by day, I have a very strict rule for the nighttime: I sleep in the big bed with my person. Once the sun goes down and my battery finally hits zero, there is nothing I love more than curling up right next to you under the blankets. I am the ultimate personal space invader in the absolute best way possible. My Ideal Human I would thrive in an active home where I get plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. Having another playful dog in the house would be a dream come true, but as long as I get to run and go on adventures, I will be a happy camper. If you think you can keep up with my speed and have a Remy-sized spot under your duvet, please fill out an application today. I'm ready to run right into your heart!
