Story
About Me: Name: Aaliyah Breed (or best guess): Poodle Mix (possibly with Schnauzer) Approximate Age: 7 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 21 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Aaliyah came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Aaliyah is a friendly gal who is progressing nicely past her puppy mill days.  She will need work on walking on a leash, so a fenced yard or potty area is best.  She will need help with housetraining.  While she would love to live with other dogs she can be placed as an only dog.  If interested please fill out the adoption application. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS February 26, 2025, 2:46 pm

Story
Hi! I'm Dixie! Since you're reading this, you must be looking for a new best friend. Hey, so am I! I don't care how old you are or what you look like, but if those things matter to you, I'm 4 years old, and that's me in the pictures with the beautiful gray and white merle coat. I'm a female poodle that weighs about 11 lbs. I was released from a puppy mill where I was used as a breeder for profit purposes. Even though I received attention from the humans there, I can still be a bit skittish when meeting new people. Once I get to know you, I will become your shadow. My perfect match would be someone who loves to give treats and reward positive behavior, belly scratches and enjoys snuggling. I will also need someone to continue working with me on housetraining and any skills that you wish for me to learn. I am completely vetted and ready to go to my new home. So what do you say? Wanna become besties? For more info, contact my foster mom, Kathie at 262-939-6404. I'm currently being fostered in Mukwonago, WI. You can complete an application to be considered to adopt at www.tinypawssmalldogrescue.org. Adoption fee of $550 required.

Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!Updated: 5/12/2025 Dog Name: Gianna Sex: Female Estimated Breed: Poodle Mix Approximate Age: 1-2 years Approximate Weight: 47 lbs Spay/Neuter Status: Spayed  Description:  When our rescue partners in Texas got a call about two dogs abandoned in a tiny rural community, they knew they had to act fast. Gianna was found dirty, matted, and starving—desperately hoping someone would see them. Now, Gianna is safe, loved, and ready to find her forever home her in WI! Gianna is a gentle, sweet, and intelligent girl who’s discovering the joys of indoor life. She did wonderfully during her first grooming, as if she knew it was the beginning of a brand-new chapter. She’s quickly learning how cozy and comforting a home can be and she's loving every minute of it! Now a proud couch potato, Gianna’s favorite activities include snuggling up with her people, giving kisses, and collecting soft, squeaky stuffed toys (her new obsession!). She's doing amazing in her foster home—no accidents, just lots of love and gratitude. Gianna’s journey hasn’t been easy, but her resilience and gentle heart shine through. She’s ready for a family who will cherish her, spoil her, and show her the life she’s always deserved!    Adoption Fee: $650We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT .
