About this Dog: Name: Justin Breed: Poodle Approximate Age:   7 yr Gender:  Male Weight:  19 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Why in Rescue:  Breeder Surrender Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  Update:  Justin has progressed so far.  He still isn't comfortable walking on a leash or being carried, but happily follows the caretakers to go outside and come back in.  And now he loves to play with toys.  He is ready for a home to help him progress even further! Original Profile: Justin came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use him for breeding.  He is a shy/undersocialized dog that isn't sure about human contact yet but getting better every day.  He is NOT housetrained or leash trained.  Justin is a happy guy and while most dogs from commercial breeders enjoy the company of another dog, he would probably like to either be the only dog or have a female companion.  We tried pairing him up with another male and they didn't get along well.  He is neutered and got his teeth cleaned and is ready to go to the next step in her life.  He is ready to learn how great it will be to live with a family, he will just need a patient and loving adopter who will give him the time he needs.  A fenced in yard or at a minimum a potty area will be needed for him as well, so he can safely go outside to potty.  Please read the following information to learn about dogs from breeding facilities to make an informed decision if a retired breeder is right for you. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often scared/shy/skittish), and probably never lived in a house.  They need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like television is.  They will need a patient adopter who will give them the time they needs to adjust and learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after being used the first part of their lives for making puppies.  A fence (or at least a fenced in potty area) is highly recommended and may be required for certain dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home and may be required in some cases. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html   We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.     The adoption procedures are listed below.  Priority is given to potential adopters who fill out the application on our website.  If a listing is on the adoption websites, we are still accepting applications.  The listing is removed once we have received a sufficient number of applications or the pet leaves the shelter.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.   4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $500 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS June 1, 2023, 8:11 pm

Story
About Me: Name:  Noodlefish Breed (or best guess): Mini Goldendoodle Approximate Age: 6 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 25 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Patient adopter, fenced yard best Why In Rescue: Retired breeding dog Profile:  Noodlefish is a smaller Goldendoodle who was a momma dog at a commercial breeding facility.  She is now on her way to learning how to be a loved family dog instead of a kennel dog.  She is shy but is learning to trust people.  By looking at her, you would think she is a puppy but she is 6 yrs old.  Because she has never lived in a home, she will need a patient adopter as she figures all of that out.  She will also need work to learn to walk on a leash so a secure potty area or fenced in yard will be best for her.  Another social dog in the home can also help former breeding dogs adjust to life in a home.  If interested in Noodlefish, please fill out the preadoption application. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax. For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.

Story
Meet Bronx! Hi There, I’m Bronx, foster mom thought it would be fun to give me a big name for a tiny girl. I’m 5 years old and just 7 pounds, and after spending my entire life in a puppy mill, my foster mom said I’ll be loved for just being me! Well I’m having a bit of a challenge finding that home. Actually what I'm looking for is more of a roommate. Someone who is retired or works from home so I can get used to you and your routine. See I may never be that cuddly lap dog most people are looking for but I am very happy to share the sofa with you.I hope that is okay. Once I'm comfortable with you I do like my ear and chin scratched. My new roommate must have a secure fenced yard, for my safety no exceptions. I will need a patient, kind, understanding roommate who is willing to go slow and work with me. Please no kids, that would just be too much for me. I need a calm home. I am potty trained, my foster parents have me on a good schedule and I haven't had an accident yet. I have discovered that I have a voice and like to use it especially when you come back into the room. Don’t worry my bark isn’t all that loud but apartment life isn’t the best for me. Foster mom said if my new roommates have another confident dog in the house that would be great for me, but it isn’t a deal breaker. I just need to have other doggie friends around to help me learn how to be a dog. I sure hope my new family will love me and adore me and want me for who I am. I promise to learn to trust and love them right back just don’t rush me! Can you maybe be my new family? Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.

Story
Meet Tink! Hello all you fine looking people. My name is Tink! I'm about 11 years old and weigh just 15 pounds. You'd never believe I'm an older man with some of my puppy spunk and antics, though. I'll dance for you and give you kisses and all the love that I have in my tiny little body. Well, I guess when I get tired, I can get grumbly like an old man, and I don't have a problem telling others that I'm not fond of being disturbed when I'm sleeping. Listen, I have glaucoma in my one eye, which causes me to be blind and have to get eye drops (which I take like a champ!). I should only live with adults in my forever home since loud, fast movements can startle me. I do fine with the other dogs in my foster home, but again, if they disturb my sleep, they disturb the peace. A calm, super laid back, non-reactive dog who doesn't need a bestie would be great, or I'd be happy being your one and only as well! I also get along just fine with the cats here and could happily live with them in my forever home! I'm a good boy and do my pottying outside, and happily go into my crate when needed. I even sleep in my crate at night and don't make a single peep until you wake me up in the morning! I'll keep you laughing during the day, taking naps between my silly sessions. I'm looking for a forever home that will understand that I'm getting older now, and unexpected, sudden movements aren't my jam anymore. I'd like a calm, relaxing, quiet home and family that will love me for all of the rest of my forever! Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Looking at me, you may not notice that I am any different than other dogs. I am a quiet and calm little gentleman as one volunteer described me. I walk really well on leash and love taking in all the smells. You know, you have to slow down at times and just take the time to enjoy the moment with someone. So, all this to say that being visually impaired doesn't mean I can't enjoy the same things you do. There are various ways to "see" the world and well, you love with your heart.

Story
Nigel is being fostered in PA. Hi, My name is Nigel and I’m told I’m the best boy ever by my foster mom. Not long ago I lived in South Carolina but some nice people scooped me up from wandering close to a road and before I knew it I was in Pennsylvania living with some foster brothers and sisters. I was taken to the vet right away and found out that I am a pretty healthy boy with a slight heart murmur of 2 out of 6 but it doesn’t bother me and I don’t need any medication. I had to have all of my teeth pulled because they were pretty nasty but it didn’t slow me down when it comes to eating my canned Purina Pro Plan and I feel so much better! I’m also finishing up some ear medicine for a slight infection I had in my left ear. The pressure in both my eyes is excellent and I am completely blind from cataracts. I’m so excited to meet my new forever family! I’ll let my foster mom tell you more about me. Nigel definitely is the best boy! He is gentle, quiet, easy-going, healthy and LOVES to cuddle. He lives with several other dogs, males and females of varying sizes and energy levels and does well with all of them with the exception of not enjoying the playfulness of his little 9 month old brother but he simply walks away and does not get aggressive. He lives with 2 cats and is very indifferent with them as well. He does well with people of all ages who treat him gently and with respect. Nigel is a healthy and slim 17 pounds but is fairly tall for a min poodle, with long legs. He is learning stairs and can now maneuver the few to get off the deck and then to the upper yard and back down. Nigel can walk on a leash but doesn’t seem like he has a lot of experience taking walks. He enjoys having free run of his secure yard and can find his way out and back in but often needs to be brought back in because he loves investigating and walking around outside. He appears to be totally blind and also house trained and did well the first several days until he “saw” and smelled that a few of the other dogs go in the house and he thought he could join in. Because of that, he is kept in an xpen when his foster mom is not home and he’s never eliminated in there and goes right away when taken outside. It’s almost certain that he would love to sleep in bed with his foster mom but her bed is very high and the floor is hard wood so he sleeps downstairs for his safety, cuddled in his xpen with a bed and blankets. He seeks his foster mom out when she is in the living room and falls asleep quickly on her lap with a few other pups. If you are looking for a calm, easy-going love-bug, this boy is the one for you! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

These pups are in Mukwonago, Wisconsin too!

About this Dog: Name: Bass Breed: Bichon Approximate Age:  4 1/2 yr Gender:  male Weight:  10 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Why in Rescue:  Breeder Surrender Requirements:  Patient adopter, Fenced yard preferred Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  If clicking on the link doesn't work, just copy/paste into a browser to get to the application.  Bass came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use him for breeding.  He is a shy boy and a little scared of people right now.  He is okay with being handled although scared. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.
