Story
About Me: Name: Tabitha/Tabby Breed (or best guess): Poodle/Shih Tzu Approximate Age: 9 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 11 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: loving family willing to keep up with her eye medications Why In Rescue: stray/lost dog Profile:   Tabitha came to us from Milwaukee Animal Control so we don't have any history or background on her.  She has seen a veterinarian several times for dry eye which is a chronic, life long condition and she will require medication for life.  When she has her eye drops daily she does very well.  She has one more appointment schedule with her eye doctor, and then she shouldn't need so many visits other than once or twice a year to get her prescription updated. She is a very smart girl and learns routines quickly.  She is sweet and lovable and loves to cuddle.  She is super excited when her foster family members come back home.  She is a playful girl who gets the zoomies and enjoys playing with toys.  For an older girl she has quite a bit of energy. She gets along well with the dogs she has met, including the foster sibling.  She loves walks.  She is pretty much potty trained, only having an accident when left alone and when the weather is bad and she doesn't get a good walk before being left home alone. She is shy at first, but warms up quickly.  She bonds well with her people and always wants to be around her person.  She seems to be quiet when left home.   If you are looking for a small, loving furry friend, can give belly rubs on demand, and have the ability to afford her eye drops and veterinary visits, apply for Tabitha.  She will quickly become your new best friend! If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS January 6, 2026, 1:30 pm

Story
Anyone looking for a dog that’s more like a cat? A dog that wants your comfortable house and daily food service, but wants absolutely nothing to do with you? A dog that excels at judging you from the corner and declaring with her eyes “don’t even think about approaching me”? A dog you forget is even there with you? Well let me introduce Blair! She is calm. She is quiet. She is crate and house trained. And She is absolutely terrified of humans. We don’t know Blair’s full story, but we do know whatever happened to her made her gut wrenchingly afraid of people. She must be kept on a tie out in a fenced in yard when outside or you can not get her back inside. She has to be cornered to be caught in the house and then carried outside to the tie out to get her outside. At her foster home she spends her days sitting in as far an opposite corner as she can get from her foster. She keeps a constant eye on her foster and bolts to another corner if she approaches at all. Blair will need a very special adopter. Someone who wants a project and who has the patience of a saint. Someone who is willing to spend months and even years just sitting with Blair and slowly slowly slowly helping her to learn all humans aren’t whatever it is she experienced for her first years of life. Helping her learn humans can be gentle, and kind, and patient, and become your best friend. But it truly may take years. She has been in her foster home for several months with only minuscule improvement. Things like she will now lay in a dog bed instead of next to it. She has started to occasionally come into the house on her own as long as the door is left open and her foster hides so Blair can’t see her. But even that is only sometimes, depending on Blair’s mood or the direction of the wind or who knows what!. Oddly Blair does seem to be less afraid of men and children. Blair also loves dogs and is good with cats and rabbits. She doesn’t appear to have any prey drive. And the best part about Blair is she has never shown even a hint of aggression, even in the midst of her fear. She is a gentle soul who now needs a hero. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. Story
I was rescued from a breeder who didnt want to spend money on our care when we didnt sell. Thankfully, our amazing friends at The Charlie Project stepped in and gave me a second chance! Now I'm safe, loved, and settling into my foster home while I wait for my forever family to find me! Right now, Im couch surfing with my foster momma, soaking up all the cuddles I can. Im still just a baby, so Im working hard on potty training and learning all the good puppy mannersbut what I lack in experience, I make up for in love and sweetness! Were looking for a forever family who will love and care for us for our whole lives. If youre interested, please apply at thecharlieprojectdogrescue.comwe do not respond to Petfinder emails. A few important notes: We only adopt to families living in Illinois, Wisconsin, or states that directly border either IL or WI. If you rent, please have your landlord contact us directly to confirm that dogs are allowed in your home. Our adoption fee is $800, which includes microchip, current vaccines and boosters, deworming, and spay/neuter at our rescue vet. If you prefer your own vet for the spay/neuter, we will reimburse $100 once you provide proof of completion. This must be done before 6 months of age, and youll sign a contract agreeing to this.
