Story
This little lady is special and needs a special family. Skunk is 11 years old and she has poor eyesight. She loves being held and kisses once she trusts you.. You have to move slowly so you don’t scare her. The perfect family would be an older couple or a family without small children and other dogs. Skunk might do ok with another senior dog. I haven’t put a harness and leash on her yet. I had to take it slow with her. ##2595335##

Story
HIGHLIGHTS: - Requires another confident dog already established in the home Meet Echo – A Shy Heart with a Playful Spirit Echo is a 12.5-pound Miniature Schnauzer with a gentle soul and a playful spark that shines brightest around other dogs. Though shy at first and hesitant with people, Echo lights up in the company of canine companions—running, playing, and gaining confidence through their guidance. She’ll need a calm, patient home with another confident dog already established to help her continue learning the ropes. Echo is still figuring out how to trust people, but she’s showing wonderful potential with each small step forward. With steady encouragement and the support of a furry friend, Echo is sure to continue blossoming into a sweet and joyful companion. --------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Showboat is a 4-year-old, 12.5-pound female Miniature Schnauzer with a big personality and an undeniable love for toys. While she’s still not comfortable being around people, her playful side shines the moment a toy comes into view. She absolutely lights up for playtime—chasing balls, chewing on bones, and romping around with her kennel mates. Showboat is food motivated, and treats are another great way to engage her and build positive associations. That joyful, playful energy is helping her build confidence, and each day she’s learning a little more about the world outside her comfort zone. Showboat has been making progress with handling, but it remains a thoughtful process that requires an adopter who is confident, gentle, and patient. She relies heavily on her canine companions to help her learn that people aren’t so bad, and she requires a confident, established dog in the home to guide her and help her feel safe. She will also need a securely fenced yard, where she can explore and play safely while continuing to build trust at her own pace. Showboat needs an experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs and is committed to patience, consistency, and gentle encouragement. A quiet, low-traffic home is essential—one that will allow her to be herself without pressure, while still supporting her progress through calm routines and positive reinforcement. Because of her sensitivity and need for careful, thoughtful introductions, a second meet-and-greet may be needed prior to adoption to ensure the best possible match for both her and her future family. With time, understanding, and the right environment, Showboat has the potential to continue growing in confidence and letting more of her joyful, playful personality shine through. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Litter was transferred to Colorado Puppy Rescue from Furever Friends of Grant County (Kansas). Per partner notes, the puppies originated from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma involving 13 dogs total in the home. CPR took 12 dogs from the situation, with 1 dog placed elsewhere. Puppies are approximately 8 months old, estimated 20-30 lbs, and arrived fixed and up to date on vaccines. From the foster: Dash is a very sweet boy, perfectly medium sized, and surprisingly soft. He loves our 8 year old daughter and is very tolerant of our 6 month old pup who desperately wants to play with him, he just has no interest in reciprocating. He is more of a people lover and wants cuddles and pets. He is hesitant and nervous in new environments, but has come a long way at our house in just a couple days. I tried to take him on a walk but so far isn't a fan of being on a leash. I'm sure he'd warm up to it once he feels safe, but I didn't want to force it. He does really enjoy hanging out in our backyard though. So far I haven't heard any barks, just some whimpers. He also knows to go potty outside and has only had accidents at night - so I will start putting him in his crate at night. He should thrive in a stable, safe environment where he can feel the comfort of his people. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Lilly is quickly improving on potty training and walking on a leash. She does great in a crate and has been thriving in a home with small children. Puppies are approximately 8 months old, estimated 20-30 lbs, and arrived fixed and up to date on vaccines. From the foster: Chitchat has come a long way since leaving deplorable conditions to foster with us. From a pup who was afraid to have us touch her, she now feels comfortable approaching people. It is a joy to see her tail wag upon greeting one of us. Chitchat enjoys laying beside her foster parents and soaks up every ounce of love we can give her. This cutie is working on her potty training. She sleeps through the night in her crate in our bedroom. Her confidence grows with quiet and slow introduction to the world around her. Chitchat will enjoy having someone at home with her the majority of time. She does best in a quiet environment. Chitchat would do well as an only dog or with a mature dog that is indifferent to her being there. Chitchat has a lot of love to give the family that has the patience to love and help her reach her full potential. Could that be you? www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
