Story
Jake is a 2-3 year old, 20lb Schnauzer/Poodle mix (maybe? we don't actually know his breeds, it's all a guess).  Jake was found as a stray and dumped a shelter in Kansas.  He was with a couple other dogs when he was found but was the least terrified out of all of them.  The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could bring him into our foster program and help him come out of his shell and learn how to be a dog.  He has now been with us for a couple months and is ready to find his forever family!  When he was first found he was super matted and had a thick, dirty coat so he was completely shaved down.  His fur is starting to grow out again.  He has super soft, fluffy fur, and seems to be mostly non-shedding, but we cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic since we don't know his background.  He will need regular grooming appointments though to keep him looking handsome and feeling great.   Jake has really started to blossom and learn all that life has to offer as a loved and cherished dog.  He seems to be a dog who picks one human to really bond with.  He follows his foster dad around the house everywhere and loves to snuggle with him.  He would do great in a lower key home with a human or humans who will be patient with him and let him learn to trust them at his own pace.  We know he will bond with his forever human the same way he has with his foster dad, he just needs to be given the time to do so.  He does well with cats and we will require he goes to a home with another dog so he can continue to learn from the behaviors of a confident dog.  Jake does great on a leash and is learning to loves walks around the neighborhood, romping around the backyard with the other dogs, and snuggling up with the other dogs and his foster dad during down time.   If you are interested in giving Jake a forever home, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2433456##

Highlights: - Requires a confident dog already established in the home. -Requires a secure yard. Meet Arabella – The Chatty, Charming Schnauzer with a Big Personality! Say hello to Arabella, a 7-year-old Miniature Schnauzer weighing 10 pounds of personality and charm! This little lady may be small, but she’s got a big voice and an even bigger heart. Arabella loves to “talk” — whether she’s saying hello, asking for treats, or letting you know she’s ready to play! She’s very food motivated, especially when it comes to chicken, though she’s still learning to take treats gently from your hand. Arabella enjoys stuffed toys, running around the yard, and spending time with her doggie friends — she thrives in the company of others. She may bark at people entering the yard, but it’s just her way of being part of the action. While she can be a little nervous at first, Arabella does wonderfully with gentle handling and loves being held once she feels comfortable. With patience, routine, and a few tasty snacks, she’s sure to blossom even more. If you’re looking for a spunky, talkative, and affectionate companion who will keep you smiling (and laughing!) every day, Arabella is your girl! ---------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
###### HIGHLIGHT: - Requires another confident dog already established in the home Meet Howard – quiet, watchful, and learning to trust Howard is a 10.5-pound Miniature Schnauzer who is still very early in his journey toward feeling safe in a human world. He’s a deeply nervous little guy who prefers to keep his distance, quietly observing everything from afar. Though he’s not ready to approach people just yet, he watches closely—and those watchful eyes are full of curiosity. At this stage, Howard is learning that people bring good things, like tossed treats and gentle, predictable routines. He’s also beginning to tolerate being picked up with a towel—an important first step in helping him feel more comfortable with gentle handling. He remains very cautious, but there’s potential for progress in the right environment. Howard requires another confident dog already established in the home to help him feel safe and provide guidance as he slowly navigates this new life. He’ll do best in a calm, experienced household where he can take his time and be allowed to observe and settle at his own pace. He’s not ready for physical affection, but he is ready for someone who understands that trust takes time—and who will be there patiently, quietly cheering him on with every small step forward. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. #### Meet Malachi! Malachi is a 3-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who is learning to come out of his shell. He can be a little nervous at first, but with patience and kindness he’s making great progress in building confidence with handling and happily taking treats. Once he feels comfortable, Malachi’s playful personality shines through—he absolutely loves his toys and enjoys keeping himself busy with them. Malachi would do best with an adopter who can give him the time, understanding, and encouragement he needs to continue gaining confidence. With love and support, this sweet boy will blossom into a wonderful companion. He will need a calm, patient home with another confident dog to help guide him and model what trust looks like. With continued encouragement and consistent care, he has the potential to take those next brave steps toward connection. ----- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet.
