Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Sadie is a comical, quirky, and spunky girl. She came from a neglect case in rural Kentucky, where she and other dogs were found abandoned and starving in an outdoor pen. Sadie is fortunate to be alive! Sadie is spunky when she is outside. Inside the house, she loves to curl up in a blanket on your bed or be cozy in a dog bed. Sadie loves bully sticks and will work them down as a beloved pastime. Sadie is well-behaved in the house, housebroken, and quiet. When she sees something out the window, she may alert vocally though! She is approximately 8.5 years old and weighs about 41 lbs. When outside, Sadie loves to zip around and explore. She does need a 6-foot fence as she can climb over a 4-foot fence. Sadie loves to go to the dog park and her favorite activity is to bark at other dogs in hopes that they will run so she can chase them.  Sadie is also a squirrel enthusiast so she will tree them and bark, both  in the yard and at the dog park, so sometimes she does need to be re-directed. Sadie loves to chase and bark at other dogs. She does not harm them, though she likes to dominate them like this to get them to play her game.   Sadie zips around like a racehorse at times and is agile and free. She goes from zero to 40 in about 3 seconds. Sadie is a joy to watch at the dog park, just keep walking (taking the lead) and that refocuses her energy! Sadie does have a little random incontinence (likely due to her age) and is on a medicine called Proin. She takes half a tab twice a day and it seems to help her greatly.  Sadie is a bit of an alpha, but can easily live with other dogs, and does mingle with all kinds of dogs at a dog park. Sadie is good with other dogs, older kids, but no cats for Sadie. This senior gal is very lovey-dovey, and loves to be pet, pampered, and smooched. She has a soft, yet also spunky nature and exudes sweet southern charm. Sadie is definitely one of a kind! Story
Hi! My name is Calvin, and I am from Arkansas! From his foster: Calvin is the textbook definition of a gentle giant. He's a big boy with an even bigger heart. From his crinkly forehead to his cow-print belly, there is an endless amount of things to love about Calvin. He loves playing outside - he enjoyed sunning himself in the unseasonably warm weather, and LOVED romping around in the snow from our recent snow storm! Speaking of being outside, his potty training is going great. He's had very few accidents, and often walks to the door as a signal that he needs to go! After watching bunnies and chewing sticks, Calvin is always good for a big snuggle. His preferred sleeping position is belly-up in someone's arms, like a big furry baby in white socks. He's currently living with five kids, two resident cats, and one of his littermates and is a kind soul to all!

Story
Meet Piper, a sweet little survivor with a bright spirit and a spunky personality. Like her brother Cole, Piper came from humble beginnings. Her mom bravely cared for her puppies outside, sheltering them under a shed during bitter cold weather until a kind Good Samaritan brought them to safety. Because of that second chance, Piper is now thriving and ready to find a family of her own. While she shares her brother’s sweet nature, Piper is the most outgoing of the litter. She’s confident, curious, and always ready to be part of whatever is happening around her. She loves to follow her person from room to room, just to make sure you don’t forget about her. And once you scoop her up, she melts right in for some snuggles. Piper is still a young puppy, so she’ll need basic training and continued potty training as she grows. With her friendly personality and eagerness to connect, she has all the makings of a wonderful, well-rounded companion. She enjoys playtime, loves attention, and balances her puppy energy with plenty of sweetness. Piper would thrive in a home ready to guide her, love her, and include her as part of the family. In return, she’ll offer devotion, cuddles, and the joyful presence only a happy, outgoing puppy can bring. Piper is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*

Story
Meet Cole, a sweet little guy that loves to give sad puppy eyes to get what he wants! It’s clear that he’s simply happy to be safe, warm, and surrounded by people. He greets everyone with a friendly hello, soaking up attention and affection like he’s been waiting his whole life for it. Cole’s story started out a little rough. His mom gave birth and cared for her puppies outside, eventually taking shelter under a shed during very cold weather. She did everything she could to keep them alive and protected. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan found the little family and brought them inside to safety until rescue could step in. As a young puppy, Cole is still learning the basics. He’ll need continued potty training and all the normal puppy lessons—manners, routines, and guidance to help him grow into a well-rounded adult dog. The good news is that he’s eager to please and has a naturally gentle temperament that will make training a rewarding experience. He does well with everyone he meets and has a calm, sweet nature. He tolerates being in his crate and is learning that it can be a safe, cozy place to rest. Like any puppy, he enjoys playing with toys and exploring his surroundings, but he isn’t overly wild—his personality leans more toward tender and affectionate than rowdy. Cole is ready for a forever home that will be patient, consistent, and excited to help him learn. In return, he’ll offer a lifetime of loyalty, sweetness, and the quiet joy that comes from watching a once-chilly little survivor grow into a beloved family companion. Cole is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon.
