Story
Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they are adopted. ALL of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Our adoption application can be found at haydudeequine.org Pepper - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! I have an amazing tiger striped pattern in my coat and amber colored eyes!! My hairytage is Mountain Cur, and the beautiful swirling pattern of my coat is a genetic characteristic. My personality is sweet, sweet, sweet and I am very human oriented. I love giving and getting kisses and spending time with my hooman..Also, for a medium sized dog, I am a great snuggler!! I will wrap myself around my Foster Mum and delight in the attention!! I will stay there snuggling for as long as she has time! I walk well on leash and know how to sit and stay. I have great focus and pay attention really well. I am a people pleaser and will try to do whatever it takes to make my hooman happy!! At 2 years young and 50 pounds, I is fully growed...I could stand to gain a couple of more pounds, dependent on snack intake!! YUMMY!! I get on well with most all other doggies, unless they are aggressive toward me. I LOVE hoomans, don't know about cats since Foster Mum doesn't have any of the strange smelling little critters!! Mountain Curs are an American original dog and were bred as an all around help mate for the early settlers. The Mountain Cur is intelligent and courageous. The breed is known for it's athletic, svelte, agile, and muscular, medium-sized build. I will make a great action adventure type companion for those hikes in the wilderness and then a snuggle by the fireplace. If you are looking for a "dog of a different color", then look no further!! I am your gal!!

Story
TAFFY is a stunning young mixed breed girl looking for a home. Isn't her brindle coat gorgeous? Our best guess at breed is a mountain cur mix due to her brindle coat, but there are a number of other possibilities for that coat -- boxer, whippet, Plott hound to name a few. Taffy has a sweet, good natured personality. She's currently around 8 months old and 28 pounds. If she's not fully grown, she's very nearly so. She has an absolutely darling personality with a wonderful, friendly disposition. She's dog friendly and fine with cats. Taffy is a medium energy pup best suited to an active home where she gets regular exercise -- a home with a yard and a doggy playmate or with a runner/walker. When playtime is over, Taffy is very affectionate and loves human attention. She's still a puppy so she will need some training but she's already housebroken and good in her crate. Taffy is food motivated and intelligent so we think she'll be fun to train. If you'd like to meet Taffy, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter, or you can meet Taffy at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-3 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 9, 2023, 2:10 pm

Story
Meet Cherry 🍒 2 year old, Mixed breed, 30lbs, female Cherry came to us a few months ago after she was abandoned in a parking lot with cardboard box full of newborn pups. Luckily a Good Samaritan picked her up and got her to safety. She had 8 beautiful pups and she was such a good mommy. Now it’s her turn to find a forever home! She is on the submissive side and good with other dogs. She is house trained, although we do think she has never lived indoors with a family. We are working on her confidence and she will need a patient home. Cherry is very sweet and loves her belly rubbed. We believe she may be a Mountain Cur mix. Cherry is now current on vaccines, heart worm tested negative, spay, and microchipped. We are accepting applications at https://form.jotform.com/secondhandpaws/app

Story
Are you looking for a dog who can do it all? Then I'm your pup - I love snuggling AND being active! My name is Neda. I was born in rescue and have loved being spoiled by my foster family for the last 4 months. I love everyone! My human foster family, my canine foster siblings, and even my cat friends! I do a great job of leaving the cats alone. I really love kids and I cuddle with my 9 year old foster sibling all the time. I'm an adventurous and playful girl but I just really like to be with my people. I know how to sit, sit before my food bowl is put down, and take treats gently. I'm working on stay and walking on a leash. I love to play outside and chew on all the sticks I can find. When it's time to settle down I really love to cuddle. I will come up to you and ask to get on your lap if you let me. I can keep you company while you watch Netflix or even play video games. I am a very sweet and smart girl that is looking for my perfect family. Adopt me today! Neda is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee is $250.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   June 9, 2023, 2:24 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Gabe! I’m a sweet little 8 month old, 40 pound guy. I found myself in a rural shelter and it totally stunk!  I am so ready for a home and couch to call my own! I am a laid back, easy going, quiet, and sweet boy. I am a little shy at first but will give lots of kisses with some bribery (my preferred method of tender is Kraft singles). I am housebroken, I love my crate, and I get along with everybody! I would love a dog, cat, or kid friend, but I am also very open to living as a full time dink (Dual Income No Kids ). I make the funniest faces and will keep you laughing all day because that’s just the kinda guy I am! If you’re looking for a quiet, sweet, and easy dog, I’m the one for you! Adoption fee is $250. He is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Holden - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Did you know that Holden's are known to be affectionate, practical, sensible and courageous by nature? We are also known to have a magnetic personality that draws people in close being both gentle and graceful. I've got most of that down except maybe the graceful part but I'm hoping to have that too once I grow into these paws!! LOL At 5 months I'm at that perfect age where I'm like a sponge, ready to soak up...everything! And with my gorgeous tiger striped coat we will have all the heads turning!! Did you also know that at 30ish lbs (50-55lbs fully grown) I will be a great size to share in all your adventures. I'd make a great jogging pawtner, hiking/camping cohort and/or a river excursion companion. You want to do it, I'd be game to try it out too! And the bestest part is when we're done having all our fun we get to have cuddle time but don't worry, even at fully grown I'll always make sure you have room to sit too!! As with your typical puppy, I'm playful and curious about everything. I'll need daily exercise and playtime, but with that in I should do great in town with a yard, out on a farm or anywhere in between. This lil sponge is ready for my very own home, could I possibly have YOU as my family?!!

Story
Urgent! One of the puppies we adopted out last year needs a new home as the current owner can no longer keep him. Please SHARE to get this dog into a foster home or new adopted home. Meet Wafer! He is an 11 month old , 60 lb English pointer mix. He loves games. He loves to play ball and he’s learned to toss his toy tire in the air and catch it. He is very nice to dogs. He is a fast runner and loves the outdoors! He can sit and lay down, he’s a really fast learner. They have a fenced in backyard and he does well with that. Wafer is potty trained and does go straight to the kennel when you ask him. He is good with kids but being a younger dog can be a bit hyper for the little kids. He does like to try to jump on people for love but after being told no he will stop. We do have a cat, but she is old and stays hidden they have interacted a couple times. Also, he is friendly with and around his food. For questions, please reach out to Christina via text at 513-739-1363 To fill out an adoption application visit https://www.shelteredpaws.com/adoption
