Jax is a Mountain Cur/ Australian Cattle Dog and Rat Terrier mix, which means he is driven and craves attention. He has an eagerness to please that we don’t see in many dogs, making him a fantastic dog for someone who enjoys the outdoors, such as hiking, walking, camping or just a leisure walk around the neighborhood. Jax would also excel at agility or a similar activity, he is a quick and agile guy. Jax can be a bit possessive of his person and his toys so he needs a person who while give him clear direction and corrections. He responds very well to verbal commands, he knows what is expected, but he likes to push those boundaries sometimes, he is still young after all. Jax is totally house and crate trained. He walks well on a leash and knows several commands such as sit, down, shake, drop it and stay. If Jax sounds like he would be a good fit for your life, he would love to meet you! If possible, a heartworm test will be done, and if negative, the dog will be started on heartworm prevention. All animals receive flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped.All animals can go home the same day as adoption. We will need your photo ID, and you will sign some documents. Adopters will also receive a copy of the animal's medical history to date. We do not do an application process. All adoptions are first-come, first-served. We do not offer holds.In most cases, we do not require that adopters bring all their family members and dogs to a meet-and-greet. But we do highly encourage it. We are happy to introduce the new dog to your dog(s) at the shelter. No appointment necessary.We do offer home trials for dogs over 6 months old for about a week. You will not need to pay the adoption fee (spay-neuter deposit) ahead of time, but if you decide to adopt, you will need to return to the shelter to complete the paperwork and pay the adoption deposit. If you do not wish to complete the adoption, you can bring the dog back at any time during normal business hours during your home trial period. We do not allow after hours drop off.
