Story
Missy is a 1 year old girl who has been in a rural shelter for months before we were able to rescue her and get her to a foster home. She is learning so much like house and crate training. She has puppy like energy with other dogs and likes to romp around in the yard. She is a sweet, happy girl who is ready for her second chance at life. She weighs about 35 pounds. bcaaofnj.org to applyInterested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
Luna is  a 6 year old 50ish lb beautiful brindle girl.  She came back to us when her adopter’s housing situation changed.  Luna hasn’t lived with other dogs before and we’re told she can be dog selective, so we’re looking for a f home where she can be the only dog for now. She’s happy to pass by others on walks, we just don’t know yet if she wants to share space with them. Luna is not a fan of the crate so someone who is home more often than not who can give her time to acclimate to a new environment is ideal. Her biggest joy is hanging on the couch by your side. Luna  has a moderate energy level and walks pretty well with a harness. She is housebroken,  She’s very loving and attentive to her person, once she's comfortable with them.. Although she hasn't lived with them, she is fine with kids.   Email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com for more info or an application. Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com is the right one for you! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 14, 2025, 7:14 pm

Story
ABOUT YOGI Looking for a smiley man? Come meet Yogi, he loves to show off his pearly whites - in the cutest way! Yogi is a 1-year-old mix breed with such a goofy, energetic personality. He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for him. He quickly rose to fame at HAP for his big smile whenever he greets a new friend. Yogi loves being with people and is a complete lover boy. He can get a little stressed in the kennel, but thrives outside of the shelter or in a home environment! He has participated in both our Doggy Day Out and Foster programs, where all of our volunteers love him. Here is what they had to say about him: "Yogi is the sweetest boy! He will do anything for a tasty treat, such as blueberries or freeze dried treats, but to Yogi, anything is food. As he is young, he is super high energy. He just wants to run and play, especially with stuffed toys that have squeakers inside. As a boy who loves his stuffies, he also likes to shred them sometimes. Despite all of his energy, Yogi will settle for nighttime. Around 10 pm, he will fall asleep, as long as he is near his person!" - Yogi's foster "I got to take out Yogi today! What a cuddle bug, he has endless love to give. If you meet him, get ready for SO MANY KISSES! We took a long walk and then a little rest at my apartment. He did awesome with other people and he gets very excitable when passing other dogs. He found some socks at my apartment and started tossing them in the air and running after them, adorable! Yogi gets very mouthy when he thinks it’s playtime. These are very playful behaviors and he’s easily redirectable, but probably would need some more training before going to a home with young kids. He could also use some training to reduce his jumping if that’s a concern for his future family. Despite these playful puppy behaviors, Yogi is an absolute gem! I would definitely adopt him if I could!" - Julia If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Alyssa is ready to begin her next chapter! This beautiful girl headed north and arrived in her New Jersey foster home on 1/10, where she has already started to blossom. At just about 40–42 pounds and around 1 year old, Alyssa is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Life in the shelter was overwhelming for Alyssa. Loud noises and constant activity left her shy, scared, and unsure — but behind her soft eyes is a trusting, loving soul who truly wants to connect. With each passing day in foster care, Alyssa is gaining confidence: she happily takes treats, leans in for gentle pets, and is learning that people can be kind. Alyssa is especially comforted by other dogs and does wonderfully with canine companions. Once she feels safe, she loves to cuddle on the couch and be part of the family. She’s not a dog who needs a yard or a fence — just a calm, patient home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. Alyssa at a glance: About 1 year old, ~40–42 lbs Spayed Housebroken & crate trained Walks beautifully on a leash Loves other dogs and gains confidence from them Best in a home without small children, as sudden noises and movements can frighten her Shy at first, but incredibly loving once she feels safe The ideal family for Alyssa will be patient, kind, and understanding — ready to show her that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. In return, Alyssa will reward you with quiet companionship, gentle affection, and a bond that grows deeper every day. If you’re looking for a truly special girl who just needs a second chance to shine, Alyssa may be the one you’ve been waiting for.  Alyssa is fixed and up to date on shots. Her  adoption fee is $450.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to wag-on-inn.com. To apply, click HERE or on our website, go to Adoptable Pets and Adoption Application. A Wag On Inn volunteer will be in touch soon!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 17, 2026, 7:52 am
