Story
Nina was adopted 2 1/2 years ago from a rescue organization dedicated to saving puppies from kill shelters. She is both crate and house trained, with an affinity for people and other dogs. Her appetite is phenomenal. Mornings often find her at the dog park with her favorite dog walker. Her temperament is balanced—neither dominant, submissive, nor aggressive. While she once exhibited a growl and scratched incident with her sharp canine, it was an exception. She has a natural inclination toward chasing prey like squirrels, foxes, deer, and birds. During her puppy days, she managed to catch a large turkey, which, despite injuries, luckily survived. Nina is seeking a nurturing home with a fenced yard. Though she is great on a leash, off-leash she is a spirited sprinter who might chase prey for hours. While clever, she's not street-smart. Nina respond to sit, out, give the paw, treat and go for a walk. Nina excels as a guard dog. She can hear sounds as a cyborg and barks to alert you.

Story
This pretty puppy is 4 month old Malibu. She is a sweet, shy and smart girl. Malibu came to us with her 3 littermates. They must have been treated poorly and are learning to trust people. Malibu is looking for an experienced home. Although she is a puppy older teen kids are recommended. She will do well with another young dog in the family and a fenced yard. She is eager to be loved and ready to learn. She will do wonderful with a family that has the time and energy to raise and train a pup from scratch. Come over to the VAO and meet the Barbie puppies today!

Story
Pickles or Skye as we’ve come to call her is a sweet puppy she’s 7 months old, we did a DNA test. She is Mountain/Black Mouth Cur with German Shepard. She is very high energy, loves to run and plays endlessly. We need to re-home her because our older dog who is 11 is going blind. He is unable to play with her the way she wants and because of that she’s become very ‘irritating’ to him. For fear of him biting her and hurting her out of self-defense or fear and the fact that my kids (2x <5yo) think they are playing is concerning. She would be great with slightly older kids and either another young energetic dog or being the single dog. Love this little girl to death but I have to look out for my kids and my ‘old man’.

Story
Kodiak! This handsome hunk is Kodiak. He was adopted from us as a puppy about a year and a half ago and while he was well loved some major family changes (through no fault of Kodiak's) made his family decide that they were not giving him the time and attention he needs. As sad and confused as Kodiak is at losing the only family he knows he is trying really hard to put on a brave face and is now looking towards to future. He is an energetic goofball and would love an active, adventurous family. Like hiking? So does Kodiak! How about games of fetch? Kodiak is your guy! Kodiak is housebroken and crate trained, although we would expect any dog might have a few accidents while they transition ot a new home and routine. Although Kodiak is very dog friendly he is also a (large) bundle of energy and may intimidate some dogs with his....exuberance. He did happily live with another dog since puppyhood. Although he lived with a very young child he is a 60 lb freight train at times and as such will accidentally knock over little ones and would do best with older kids or an adult home. Story
Her name is Talia, and she’s a 7-month-old Mountain Cur mix. She presently weighs 24 pounds and will grow to an adult size of 35-40 pounds.  If you look up her breed, you’ll find Talia’s characteristics reflect what her foster says.  She’s good with other dogs, kids, and also her cat.  Mountain Curs are also considered great companions and watch dogs.  This is a great breed!  And, of course, our Talia is the best of the best!  (posted 9/21/23, TN) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $375 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  October 3, 2023, 10:18 pm
