Story
Penny came to the shelter as a stray, but it didn’t take long for her to win over the hearts of staff and volunteers alike. She is incredibly sweet, friendly, and affectionate. Penny loves getting pets, cuddling on the couch, and spending time close to her people. She also enjoys going for walks and seems like the kind of dog who would happily join you on adventures. Penny is about one year old and weighs around 35 pounds, making her a smaller, manageable size. She is not yet spayed but will be prior to adoption. While she resembles a Plott Hound, her exact mix is unknown. She has a medium-length coat and an adorable, distinctive curly tail. She will need some potty training, but Penny is very eager to please and treat-motivated, so she should pick it up quickly. Penny is currently perfecting sit, down, and paw. She has a submissive personality with both people and dogs, often making herself small to appear non-threatening. We have also caught her play bowing with other dogs between kennels. Because of this, we believe she would do well with other dogs and children, though meet-and-greets are always recommended. With some structure and basic training, Penny has all the qualities to be an amazing companion. She is affectionate, playful, smart, and loyal. Most importantly, she is ready to find a loving home of her own. Fun tidbit: She wiggles her butt when she gets excited!

Story
Gloria is 5.5 years old, 50 lbs "Fantastic Fido: The Outdoorsy, Foodie, and Social Canine Sensation!" Woof woof! I'm an adventure-loving, farm-ready pup that's always on the move. My name? Well, let's just say I'm known as Gloria When it comes to the great outdoors, count me in! I'm a natural-born explorer, always sniffing out new scents, chasing butterflies, and investigating every nook and cranny . With my keen senses and hunting instincts, I'm always on the lookout for exciting things to discover and investigate. Who needs TV when you've got the great outdoors, right? Speaking of food, I'm a bit of a connoisseur. . I've got a discerning palate and a preference for home-cooked meals. Real chicken, beef, or fish? Now we're talking! There's nothing like a delicious, homemade feast to satisfy my hunger and keep me fueled for my adventures. But my foster mom now has me eating high quality dogfood as well, so I'm not as picky as I used to be. And let's talk treats! I'm not one to easily fall for just any treat. It's got to be the good stuff - real meaty goodness! Chicken, beef, or fish treats? Yes, please! I'll wag my tail and give you my best "puppy eyes" for those tasty morsels. One of my many talents is getting along famously with other dogs. I'm a social butterfly, always ready to make new furry friends and have a blast playing together. I've got great doggy manners and know how to play nice with others. After all, life's more fun when you've got a pack to run with! With my boundless energy and athleticism, I'm always up for some action. I love to run, jump, and play to my heart's content. Staying cooped up inside a house is just not my style. I need wide open spaces to stretch my legs and let my adventurous spirit soar. I've been known to give my paw-rents a run for their money when they try to keep me indoors - I'm just too full of life and excitement to sit still for long! But don't worry, I've got some good manners too. I know when it's time to do my business and I'm always cooperative when my paw-rents need to take me outside to pee. I've got a bladder of steel and can "hold it" like a champ! So, there you have it - the "Fantastic Fido"! I'm a fun loving, treat-demanding, adventure-seeking pup who's always ready for some outdoor fun. If you need a furry companion to join you on your outdoor adventures, look no further. I'm your girl! Woof woof!

Story
Barney is the kind of dog that makes people stop mid-sentence and say, “Now that is a Bloodhound.” Born May 20, 2025, he’s still very much a baby at heart—even if that baby already weighs 75 pounds and is expected to grow well past 100 as he matures. Big, goofy, gentle, and full of personality, Barney is as sweet as he is stunning.   He has the perfect mix of playful energy and laidback charm. One minute he’s romping around the house with his tiny Parsons Russell Terrier girlfriend like a clumsy, oversized puppy playing hide and seek, and the next he’s sprawled across the floor looking completely content with life. Watching the two of them wrestle and chase each other is pure comedy and proof that best friends don’t have to come in matching sizes.   Barney is fully house trained and has wonderful manners in the home. He gets along beautifully with other dogs and is perfectly comfortable with cats. His long ears are still growing into him, his rich crimson coat shines, and he is healthy, strong, and thriving. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations.   Despite his future “small pony” size, Barney believes he belongs as close to his person as possible. Lap dog may not be realistic, but resting his big hound head on your shoulder absolutely is. He wants to be wherever you are and would happily ride shotgun for every errand, road trip, or adventure you can dream up.   Because of his size and hound instincts, Barney will need a fenced yard or plenty of safe space where he can stretch those long legs and explore. More than anything, he wants a person to call his own—a sidekick for life. Bring Barney home and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without a Bloodhound.   Ready to go now. Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 19, 2026, 12:14 pm
