Story
Now that she’s settled into her foster home, life for 1-year-old Nyra couldn’t be nicer! At a fit 40 pounds, the sleek black beauty, so sweet and so calm, thrives on her foster mom’s attention, snuggling and cuddling with her, and often climbing onto her lap to say “hi” and get hugs during the day. Not only does she enjoy engaging with the three resident teens, she especially enjoys romping and running around inside and out in the yard with her two larger doggy foster friends. At ease when encountering new people, Nyra, who loves going for 30 - 45 minute walks once a day with both of her canine companions, likes jerky treats, dental bones, dog biscuits, and most dog toys. Motivated by food and love, she currently knows “sit,” “leave it” and “no,” is crate-trained and almost fully leash and house-trained. Now all Nyra needs is a nurturing home, perhaps with a confident canine already there, and adopters who will complete her training, including her commands, and keep her both adored and active fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Introducing Allison, a delightful and affectionate dog who’s eager to become part of your family!  Allison adores cuddles and pets, and she’ll snuggle up for as long as you’ll let her. She’s a big fan of bones and toys, though she tends to pull all the stuffing out of the soft ones—she loves playtime!   Allison gets along wonderfully with our senior dog and is eager to make friends with everyone she meets, both human and canine. She walks well on a leash and seems housebroken, making her an excellent companion for your daily adventures.   While she’s still working on curbing her excitement-induced jumping and mouthing, her boundless puppy energy and playful spirit more than make up for it. If you’re ready for a fun-loving friend to bring joy and laughter into your life, Allison is the perfect match! Staff notes - Allison is a gentle, affectionate soul who is just the perfect companion for someone looking for a friendly and loyal dog. She is a curious and playful girl who loves to explore, and she is also a social butterfly who loves to make new friends - both human and canine! Allison is a gentle soul who seeks affection and loves to be around people. She loves to play with other dogs and enjoys her social time with them. Allison is a total goofball who loves to make her humans smile. She would be the perfect addition to any family who is looking for a sweet, loving, and playful companion. Come meet Allison today and see for yourself just how wonderful she is! Allison was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2173341##

Story
Biggie is the sweetest little boy, he is super quick to learn and eager to make new friends. He does great at the dog park and has never gotten into any scuffles with humans or dogs. He has attended 3 puppy classes and has picked up well on the tricks and methods taught. It would be awesome if Biggie could have a backyard as I live in an apartment right now and he loves nothing more than sun bathing in the grass. He does well with kids too so a family with small children would be no problem at all. I just want him to find a home that ready to take on a puppy and give this sweet boy the time and space he needs.
