Story
Earl is a country boy who keeps it cool inside the house and out. He has a great attitude and is always smiling. If you're looking for a dog to cuddle with, Earl's your guy. And if you're looking for a dog to just hang out with, Earl is also your guy - that's right, folks, he's flexible. Earl has lived with older kids before and was a perfect gentleman with them. He has been living with other dogs in the shelter and gets along just fine with them, so we think he would do great with a brother or sister dog - although he wouldn't mind your undivided attention either! He enjoys fetch and playing with rope toys, and loves to go for a run once in a while, but he's happy to relax on the couch with you too. His greatest talent is his sniffer - this boy has a great nose and loves to put it to use! Earl really is the do-it-all dog. Whatever you're looking for, he's sure to have it. So come on down to the shelter and meet him today - he can't wait to get to know ya!

Story
Meet beautiful Kelly! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl on 4/4, and no one has come to reclaim her. Kelly needs a hero and quickly. She has found herself in an overcrowded shelter and she's petrified. She also has heartworms, which are treatable, but having medical needs is not ideal when the shelter is full. The volunteers describe her as sweet, but so very scared. She does know how to sit and lay down when asked. If you have a soft spot for the shy kids please don't delay and come meet Kelly. She really needs someone to step up for her. Kelly is approximately 6 years old, and she weighs 48 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and she will be spayed and microchipped upon adoption. Unfortunately, Kelly did test positive for heartworms, but with proper treatment and care she can go on to live a long and healthy life. Please speak with your vet about treatment options. Kelly is waiting in in run 27; her ID # is 655667. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. Story
Israel is an almost 4 year old Pointer mix. This sweet fella is more calm than the average pup and seems to just be a 'go with the flow' kind of guy. He walks well on a leash after initial energy out of his cage, and is overall a gentleman. While Israel is fairly reserved when in his cage, his wonderful personality really shines once he is out of it and in the park! He becomes so joyful – the type of joy that spreads to everyone around him! He enjoys playing with toys, frolicking with people, and giving goofy grins while getting petted. Clearly Israel will truly shine once in a home setting! He is smart and we believe he would catch onto commands quickly. We are unsure of his demeanor with other dogs and would suggest a meet-n-greet!   The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm. The Carroll County Animal Shelter will be closed the last Friday of every month for deep cleaning, staff training, and animal enrichment.April 24, 2024, 1:48 am

Story
A VERY SWEET FRIEND:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 39 lbs.   Hello, my name’s Suzie!  I was rescued from animal control by Mostly Mutts and couldn’t be more grateful! I’m ready to meet my new family and start the good life all doggies deserve! I got to participate in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met dogs recently at Mostly Mutts, and I had to learn how to play with them. Now that I have, I think I would like another dog in my new home. If you have a friendly doggie at home already, let’s meet!  / Cats unknown. / I recently met kids at Mostly Mutts (age 10+), and I liked them!  So, if you have kids around that age, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet girl with a good bit of energy.  You will fall in love with my fun and friendly nature.  I’m also quite affectionate and ready to give and accept all the love!  A nice volunteer recently took me on a hiking daytrip, and I loved it!  They say I did great on the trail and loved the woods, probably because I’m such a great explorer!  Speaking of exploring, my nose takes me many places and it may take me into the bathroom to chew on a tissue that was left out, so best to just keep those out of nose reach.  / My energy level is 7-9 so let’s be active together and have fun!   • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I expect to be a Mostly Mutts University graduate very soon!  So far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘leave it’, ‘place’, ‘drop it’, and ‘come’ commands and I also accept nice strangers without jumping and use proper door etiquette. I’m working hard to master my leash manners now. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though I do whine and bark for about 20 minutes when I first go in, so it’s probably best that I don’t live in an apartment/condo community where this may be disruptive. / I was having a few accidents on the shelter schedule, but my potty habits were great on the prison/foster program schedule.  My trainer has discovered that I need to go out first thing in the morning, before we do anything else, and this has helped me. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like to play and be active, so I am looking for a family member that matches my energy level and is ready for some fun and adventure with me! Toys and balls are super fun, I love a good game of fetch. Soaking up the love is great fun too, and I will give you a gentle nudge on the hand, as if to say ‘don’t stop the petting’! / In a home I visited for a few days, I got startled and gave a little growl when new folks walked in the room I was in, but once they came in I was totally friendly.  I can’t think of any other dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a home where my family will cherish me for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 24, 2024, 8:29 am
