Patty is a sweet female Pointer mix with a gorgeous black-and-white coat sprinkled with charming speckles. She weighs a petite 35 pounds and has a friendly, outgoing personality. Patty loves meeting new people and brings lots of fun, happy energy wherever she goes. Patty arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from a partner shelter in Oklahoma and tested positive for Heartworm. While that may sound scary, the staff believes the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Patty to complete treatment and recover is in a loving, forever home. If you choose to adopt Patty, our clinic staff will support you every step of the way—answering questions and guiding you through the process. Heartworm treatment typically takes about three months and includes some simple at-home care to keep Patty safe while she heals. A follow-up test is done six months after treatment begins. The good news? Heartworm treatment has a very high success rate, and the staff fully expects Patty to make a complete recovery! Plus, Heartworm is only transmitted between animals through mosquitoes—never through direct contact. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). I'm 53lbs, and I am seeking my forever home! Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Mia! This sweet, friendly Pointer/Boxer mix has a warm and loving personality. Mia enjoys being around people and is happy to greet just about anyone she meets, making her a joy to have by your side. She is house-trained and does well with other dogs and kids, making her a wonderful fit for an active but balanced home. Mia has a bit of extra energy and enthusiasm—especially when meeting new people—but she settles nicely and enjoys both playtime and quiet moments. When the day winds down, Mia truly loves to cuddle and soak up affection. She is looking for a home that will appreciate her loving nature and give her the chance to continue growing into a confident, happy companion. In return, she’ll offer loyalty, love, and plenty of sweet moments. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. An application is required to view our adoptable pets. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are not put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Billie is an adorable young mix, thought to be a Pointer/Aussie/Lab mix. She’s about 44 lbs, a bit on the lean side currently. And estimated at 4 years old. Billie joined us from a very horrible neglectful situation. She along with eight other dogs was rescued from a trailer, after the owner of the trailer was taken to a mental health facility. All dogs were starved; two were starved to death. Billie was one of the survivors, but barely so. She was skin and bones when joining our rescue program….and a look of hopelessness filled her eyes. During the last several weeks that Billie has been in her BAARK foster home, she has made notable progress, gaining weight, looking better, feeling more confident, and showing us some pep in her step! She’s even starting to play with other dogs. An ideal home and family for Billie is one who can understand her past and give her the time and space she needs to continue to build her confidence, and blossom into a loving, playful girl that she deserves to be. Good nutrition is very important given her past. Billie obviously is good with other dogs but the preferred home for Billie would be as an only dog, or with another calm friendly dog. She’d love a secure fenced yard where she could run, play, and exercise. She is scared of quick movements at this time, so smaller children would likely be overwhelming to her; older children should be fine.
