Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet senior fluff ISO love and safety! POSTON NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Poston      Best Guess for Breed: Pomeranian mix   Best Guess for Age:  9 years as of February 2024     SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  14 lbs   Gets Along With:   Poston does well with other dogs. We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!   Special adoption considerations: Poston is a truly Lucky Dog. Although he has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Poston is Looking For:  Poston ended up in the shelter due to no fault of his own. He was confused but told us he's closed that chapter and is ready for his new one!   He is oh so eager to once again have his own humans and to love and be loved. Sure, he's a senior dog but he's got pep in that step and is eager to explore the world with his new family after he has recovered fully from heartworm treatment. Sniffy walks and snuggles are high on his wish list, along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. And daily grooming and regular professional grooming - that coat mats easily, and that's painful.    At the top of that list, though, is knowing he's safe and under his own roof and where he belongs. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is there a Poston-shaped spot in your lap and your life?  What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
This adorable guy is called Peetie and he is a senior Pom mix boy that lost his beloved mom of 8 years just recently.  She passed away suddenly.  Peetie had been a part of the Critter Cavalry Rescue about 8 years ago and we took him back in to keep him safe.  We updated all his vetting and did a much needed dental and bloodwork too!  This happy boy is always smiling and always wants to play.  He acts like a 4-5 year old dog instead of 10+ years.   He is not going anywhere for a long time we can tell you that.  He is great with other dogs, cats and all people he meets.  He is not so great on a leash but some one-on-one would get him whipped into shape fast.  Peetie is crate trained and loves to vocalize when he knows that people are nearby or even dogs.  All you have to do is say…HUSH PEETIE…and he hushes.  We think that an apartment is NOT the right place for this small 20 pound boy.  He is solid as a rock and his gorgeous red and blackish fur is just stunning.  He would adore you to brush him and give him some TLC every few days.  He sleeps in the bed with his foster mom and he greets new foster dogs with enthusiasm and excitement.  If you are looking for a medium energy boy that also knows how to cuddle and snuggle, then Peetie is the one for you!  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.February 29, 2024, 8:59 am

Story
Elvis is a loving, caring Pomeranian chi mix! He adores ALL people, children, and dogs. He spends most of his days napping and hanging out with family. He requires a small amount of exercise daily (three 5-10 minute walks). He walks well on the leash and does not pull at all. After his morning walk, he tends to sleep most of the day away! He has great house manners and listens very well. Currently, he knows commands in Spanish, including the basics (Sientate/Sit, Espera/Wait and Ven Aqui/come). He is extremely food motivated when it comes to training, so it will be easy to expand his vocabulary in English. Elvis does have mild separation anxiety, which leads to him having accidents if he is left home alone outside of the crate. Additionally, he may have the occasional accident overnight. He is 100% crate trained, so we would definitely recommend using a crate, so he won’t have any accidents. Elvis has a heart condition which requires him to take medicine daily. Additionally, he will need to go to the cardiologist every 6 months for a recheck echo. All in all, Elvis would be an excellent addition to any family looking for a super smart, low energy, friendly, and loyal dog. My Profile Age: 7 years Weight: 12 pounds Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Mostly Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Sientate/Sit, Espera/Wait & Ven Aqui/Come Activity level: Low Special needs: Yes, I need daily medication. Story
Stop, look, listen! Ransom is adorable! But he is only available to someone who has extensive experience with dogs who have Ransom's behavior issues. Yes, he's as soft as a stuffed toy and just as cute and is a very smart, affectionate little guy. But he's quirky. Originally aged at 12 years old by the shelter where he was turned in as a stray, we agree with our vet team that he’s more likely about 8 years old. Ransom loves to keep watch over the neighborhood as much as he loves being cuddled. He’ll use his paw to pull your hand to his face to stroke him. We initially thought he needed to be an only pet but since he was neutered, he is doing much better. We have taken things very slowly with him and the other dogs here. When he first met the other dogs, he was territorial and showed resource guarding towards humans. We have worked with him and he has made great progress. He learns quickly and really wants to please. He knows sit, wait, watch, and come, walks nicely on the leash and is perfectly crate and house trained. Ransom needs a very special adopter. Please read our Senior Moments post to learn about him: https://www.flfosenioranimals.org/post/ransom-notes FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD. Thank you for understanding.
