Story
Harvey resembles a ripe peach. He is sweet, fuzzy, orange, and sort of round. He is a great companion: quiet, charming, and handsome. He has one wonky ear that points sideways, while the other points up. Harvey is an excellent car buddy, settling himself down quietly to watch the world go by. He is happy to snooze on a dog bed while his human works, watches TV, or sleeps. During meals, he stands quietly, not begging but just hoping for a lucky piece of chicken to fall. He would probably benefit from losing a couple of pounds, so if you're looking for a diet buddy, he's a solid pick. Harvey gets along with other dogs. He is curious about cats but not aggressive. He may have the mistaken impression that they could be playmates, but the cats in his foster home may have disabused him of that notion by now. Harvey likes receiving pets and scratches and will respond with gentle kisses. He is potty pad trained and accepting of wearing belly bands when needed. He is good about going potty when taken outside. If his human is home a lot and paying attention, he likely wouldn't need the potty pads much. He enjoys slow walks or sniffaris around the backyard (except in the rain). Harvey has an enlarged heart and a heart murmur which will require ongoing medication and periodic vet visits. He has a bit of a related cough, for which he also takes a medication, which seems to help. Harvey has cataracts that render him essentially blind. He does not let that stop him from getting around. He wanders confidently around the house and in the yard. He is very good about following a voice to get around and also enjoys exploring on his own. He can go up a small number of stairs, but would prefer to have help going down. He does not love being picked up but will tolerate it for reasonable periods of time if it helps him get where he needs to go. Harvey is a delight to have around. If you're looking for a quiet, orange shadow, come meet him soon! Harvey is approx 9 years old and 13 lbs. fostered in Falls Church, VA please apply at mirishaven.org

Story
Meet Brady! Brady is the kind of dog who forms a deep partnership with his person: observant, loyal, and quietly affectionate. Brady’s life changed when his mom’s dementia progressed and he suddenly found himself in a new house with new people. At first he was unsure, but once he realized meals were predictable, hands were gentle, and no one expected him to be anything other than himself, he settled in and let his personality blossom. Brady is a thoughtful little companion who bonds deeply to his person. He will follow you from room to room like a polite, fluffy assistant. If you vanish, he’ll climb the steps to check on you, ears forward and businesslike, making sure his world is still intact. He loves slow approaches, long massages and gentle head scratches, but he is sensitive about his back and hind legs and doesn’t appreciate being picked up abruptly. He communicates clearly when something makes him uncomfortable and does best with humans who listen. His favorite activities are calm walks, sniffing around the yard, and spending quiet time near his people. He’s housetrained, will also use pee pads, rides well in the car, and can stay home alone without anxiety. He gets along well with other dogs, ignores the cat, and prefers a peaceful environment over chaos. Older, respectful children are fine; unpredictable handling is not his style. Brady thrives on routine. He believes strongly in schedules and will politely, then persistently, notify you when it’s time for meals or potty breaks. He would be happiest in a quieter home, ideally with a fenced yard, where life is steady and predictable. He isn’t interested in rough play or constant activity; he wants companionship and consistency. Medically, Brady takes medication for a heart murmur and easts a prescription urinary diet to keep his liver healthy. His murmur will need continued monitoring. He still needs a dental, so he'll need to be rechecked in a few months to confirm whether he is cleared for the necessary anesthesia. Brady lost his lifelong home through no fault of his own. Now he’s ready for a calm place where he can attach himself to someone again - permanently. Apply today to meet him! Brady is approximately 13 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Baltimore, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org
