Story
🐾 Meet Lil Beet the Adventurer! Age: 10 Years | Size: Small (but mighty) | Breed: Pomeranian and long-haired chihuahua mix Beethoven (lil Beet) is a sweet, adventurous soul who is ready to find his true forever home. After coming to us as an owner surrender from an animal shelter in Southern Virginia, Beethoven has been coming out of his shell. He went from being wary of people to being affection-seeking, curious, and sweet. He does incredibly well off leash in my yard + on leash walking in bustling shopping centers and is potty trained to go outside (he gently howls when he has to go). He enjoys pets and boops/licks your hand for more, but does not like being carried; he prefers to do things on his own, e.g., jumping in the car. He is a low-maintenance dog who sleeps for most of the day—he's just happy to be around his person and/or another small dog friend. He enjoys sleeping under my desk while I work at the computer during the day. Beethoven’s Likes: • Car rides (He LOVES car rides) • Walks + sniffs • Treats • Fluffy blankets • Small dog friends • Being around his person • Classical, Jazz, and Justin Bieber music Beethoven’s Dislikes: • Being carried Ideal Home: Because Beethoven initially found the world a bit scary, he is looking for a patient, loving home who will take him on car rides and outdoor adventures. He does best with people who respect his personal space and give him the freedom to choose what he wants to do—he seems to warm up quite quickly with people who do so. I believe he would do best in a household with another small dog, someone who works at home, or someone who can take him to work because he enjoys being around other small dogs and/or his person! Lil Beet is an incredible dog looking for his forever person to give him the best golden years. Lil Beet has a likely collapsed trachea and cataracts (both common with older dogs). They don't seem to affect his day-to-day. He sometimes coughs when he pulls on his leash, but doesn't really cough when his harness isn't on—the shelter was also using a slip lead on him, so I think he's still recovering from that. Lil Beet's adoption application is located at the bottom of the page: https://threelittlebears.org/availabledogs-beethoven/ Check out @tlbrescue on Instagram for more content of little Beethoven!

Story
Meet Buster, a nine-year-old 17-pound Pomeranian, who was rehomed through no fault of his own. His owner, who was moving into a retirement home and couldn’t take him, was trying to rehome him in a shelter parking lot because the shelter was full. A volunteer saw this happening and stepped in to offer Buster a place in our rescue. This gorgeous little boy is very friendly with people and other dogs. Buster enjoys walks and exploring the fenced yard in his foster home. He also likes car rides and eagerly awaits the opportunity to hop in. But mostly, Buster enjoys hanging out with his people, gazing adoringly at them with his big brown eyes. Buster is an all-around good boy who will make a loyal and loving companion. Buster is UTD on vaccines and heartworm testing. He was recently neutered and received a full dental cleaning. Buster has a mild heart condition that is being well managed with inexpensive daily medication but is otherwise very healthy. This special boy deserves to have a forever home where he will always be loved and cared for.  Apply here: https://fs8.formsite.com/Caringhearts/form1/index

Story
Meet Stewart! Stewart's story began when he was found wandering as a stray. He wasn't microchipped or neutered, and despite efforts to locate his owner, no one came forward to claim him. Their loss is definitely someone else's gain because Stewart is an absolutely adorable little dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Since entering foster care, Stewart has acclimated beautifully to home life. He lives with his foster mom, Debbie, and her two resident dogs, and he integrated into the pack with ease. While he was a little annoying to the other dogs before being neutered, that behavior has already improved significantly. He gets along well with his canine housemates but isn't dependent on them for companionship, which means he'd be happy as either an only dog or in a home with another friendly pup. Stewart has also met the resident cat and done very well. He's curious but respectful and has shown no interest in chasing. Personality-wise, Stewart is a confident little guy with plenty of charm. Like many small dogs, he can have moments of frantic "little dog energy" before quickly settling down and returning to his calm, relaxed self. He's also an excellent watchdog. If he hears a noise outside or someone arrives at the door, he'll be the first to sound the alarm. Once he's made his announcement, though, he's usually happy to go back to whatever he was doing. Underneath that confident exterior is an incredibly sweet and cuddly dog. If you pick him up, he melts into your arms and becomes completely relaxed. His foster mom says this is when he's at his absolute cutest—like a little teddy bear who just wants to be held. Stewart has good house manners and is both crate-trained and housetrained. Like many unneutered male dogs, he marked when he first arrived, but since his neuter, that behavior has improved considerably. He reliably asks to go outside, sleeps quietly through the night in his crate, and has adapted well to household routines. He's also a pleasure to walk. Stewart does well on leash, whether walking with other dogs or on his own, and has shown no leash reactivity. He enjoys exploring the neighborhood and taking in all the sights and smells. When visitors arrive, Stewart may announce their presence with a few barks, but he warms up quickly and is more than happy to soak up attention from new people. His barking is generally focused on alerting his family to noises and activity around the home rather than any true concern about strangers. If you're looking for a confident, affectionate, entertaining little companion who can make you laugh one minute and cuddle up beside you the next, Stewart may be the perfect match. His foster mom gives his cuteness a perfect 10 out of 10, and we're inclined to agree. Stewart will be coming to  DC metro in early July. Apply today! BEED ESTIMATE: Pomeranian GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 10 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE:  longer coat that needs regular grooming.  ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Charlotte, NC     FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. July 14, 2026, 12:50 am
