Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen. He was 78 and I was a puppy :( I had to be around really big dogs. By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself. My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy. To say it was a mess was an understatement :( My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me. She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me. She took my leash and we went for a walk. I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be. She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard. Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen. Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs. The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day. I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!! Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE! I'm even OK with female humans!!! Life is GREAT!! PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone. Its not fair. She may be under 4 pounds but has a sweet personality. She enjoys her naps and quiet time as long as all of her other needs are met. This little lady is strong willed thanks to her breed mixes, but she sure is beautiful with so many great qualities to offer. Zoey is house trained, leash trained but would do best with a fenced yard, loves car rides, loves other small dogs, and loves her duty of patrol and alert dog of any suspicious looking things happening outside her home. Nothing gets past her and there is no missing her unique alert barks either. Zoey takes time to warm up to a new place and new people, but once she does, she is attached! She would be okay with kids visiting, but not living with them full time as that was part of the reason she was surrendered. Zoey doesn't enjoy the vet, or grooming so a little sedative before these stressful events is key to keeping her calm and cool. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lenny is an adorable, toothless, 10 year old 10 pound boy that is tiny despite his weight. He was a breeding stud his entire life and never saw a vet before coming to us. Unfortunately he lived in pain until his teeth fell out. He also suffered from Lyme disease that he is finishing treatment for and is feeling fantastic already. His knee caps are also fused out if place so he takes supplements to help. Lenny is sweet, loves other dogs, loves people, loves food, and is enjoying his new freedom from living in a home of filth. Lenny does need another dog in the home. Lenny is leash trained, enjoys car rides, and he is a gentlemen for grooming and vetting. We see so much improvement with Lenny since he first arrived. He is acting like a puppy again now that he is feeling better. He is getting better about potty habits since his neuter, but belly bands will be needed until he's fully trained to mark things. Even though Lenny has some minor health thinks, he is truly a wonderful little guy who deserves a life of love. Now all he needs is his forever family! We got Kona as a sweet pup, from a family friend who raised Pomskys. 4 years old this spring. She absolutely ADORES being outside/going for runs or hikes. Anything that involves running and moving, she’s obsessed with. She knows some cute tricks and will show off for a good treat! She tends to be a picky eater (aka typical husky behavior;) and she is extremely loyal. She chose me as her person, so she feels the need to stick close by my side. She’s typically good with strangers, she’s never bitten or shown aggression. She’s a sweetheart and will cuddle at times, but mostly prefers to snuggle up in her cozy bed. She is amazing with my 10 month old son, licks his hands and lays belly up beside him allowing him to yank and pull on her fur. Having grown up with him caused them to become best friends!! Sadly because of my baby’s needs we are needing to rehome her. Looking for someone who is willing to exercise her and give her the time she deserves.
