Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fostering is a very important part of rescue because it allows more animals to be saved. There is a capacity on how many dogs Peace Love & Poms Rescue can have at one time and sadly we can’t save every dog that needs our help. Every foster home that welcomes a foster dog, opens a space at the rescue so that another dog can be saved.  Fostering also provides an in-home experience, which makes the dog that much more adaptable.  Fostering is extremely rewarding and you are helping to save innocent lives. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2024, 4:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Steely is searching for his perfect home! This 7(we think) year old 14-pound boy is healthy, but he does have quirks. Not much is known about his background, but we know his history since March 2023. He was sent to a Pittsburgh shelter for emergency boarding. After 2 months with nobody coming back to get him or return calls, he was abandoned in the shelter. That’s when we were contacted. Shelter life was not good to him, and he was starting to act out and become aggressive to the staff and other dogs. Steely is easily excitable so we started medication to help him level out. After a month with his foster family, he has started to calm down, not be so reactive, and learn how to be a loved house dog. He needs a patient parent who will help build his confidence and not force anything on him. He does not like surprise sudden movements towards him, which has caused him to lash out. He responds well to praise and high value treats, but it has taken him time to warm up to new people and settle into a new environment. Steely is house trained to go on the pee pads, crate trained at night, rides well in a car, loves his chewies, and eats very well. He is great on a leash and will walk by your side. Despite his anxiety, he is good with grooming and tolerates vet visits. He does not like large dogs! He does OK with other dogs his size and smaller, but we think he will be best suited as the only dog in the house. He loves to have all of the attention on him, and will sit in your lap for pets. He can get a little nippy if he feels like you're not paying enough attention. Because of this, Steely cannot go to a home with children and would do best in a home that will continue to work with him and help him be the best boy he can be. Once Steely settles in, recognizes you, and trusts you, he will be your constant companion. To adopt Steely, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2024, 4:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.WallE is a big beautiful 20 pound, 5 year old Pomeranian looking for his perfect home. He is highly trained, loyal, and sweet as can be, BUT that's only with his people. You see WallE wasn't well socialized so new things cause him anxiety that make him bark to warn people he is scared. A home wothout children is a must. We have put WallE on anxiety meds and worked with him on new things and he has improved greatly, but he will need continued work, patience and understanding in his new home. He would love to be an only dog, and it would be best for him to have a home as an only pet. WallE prefers women, but does accept men after some time to adjust. WallE is leash trained, crate trained, house trained, rides well in a car, and healthy. Now all he needs is his happily ever after! To adopt WallE, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2024, 4:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sable is a beautiful 14 year old 12 pound senior girl looking for her happily ever after! She was a loyal companion all her life, but a new girlfriend demanded she be gone, but that's okay because the poor girl desperately needed vet care. Sable is hearing impaired but responds to whistles and finds you with bumps or vibration. She gets excited when she finds you to get her scratches and play. She is also vision impaired, but it doesn't slow her down one bit because she quickly learns the layout of new places. She even does a few steps to get in and out of the yard. Sable is house trained to use pee pads or go outside, accepts a harness and leash, and prefers a home with other dogs. She isn't a fan of grooming so she gets a little sedative pill before any spa days. Sable may be a senior but she is healthy, spry, smart, and playful just looking for a loving family! To adopt Sable, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, urinalysis, spay, dental, enucleation, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2024, 4:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kodi is one gorgeous 10 pound, 3 year old Pomeranian looking for his perfect home. You see Kodi hasn't had a good life, there is a history of abuse, being forced to live outside, and then being abandoned so our handsome guy has some baggage. We developed a plan specific to his needs and he has THRIVED with just a little bit of work, patience, and taking our ques from him. This plan MUST BE FOLLOWED WITHOUT QUESTION BY ANY POTENTIAL ADOPTER! With that being said, and excuse us if it comes of wrong, but if you feel you know it all about accommodating a dog with a trauma history, there is no need to apply because we will not risk this poor guy being failed ever again. He needs an adopter that understands each dog has different accommodation needs and different approaches to training, but with that being said, if you listen to and follow the plan, Kodi will be purely perfect for an adult only home, and would love some friendly younger small dog playmates too!. Kodi is leash trained, but will need a fenced yard as strangers applying devices in the first few weeks of adjustment isn't ideal for him while he is learning to trust. He is treat motivated, loves toys, and would enjoy an active lifestyle to keep him happy and healthy. He is pretty well house trained with a regular potty schedule. He is crate trained, but only a plastic carrier crate can be used for him, and crate training MUST continue for him to be successful in a new home. He will need a decompression area just for him in his new home that he will use for the first 3 to 7 days then be used as an escape area for when his area of access is expanded. Kodi does well with other dogs, but cannot live with another strong willed dog, we are talking a dog that runs the show and doesn't back down, because Kodi will butt heads with that dog. Besides that type of personality, he has done awesome with every other type of dog in his foster home. Kodi rides well in a car, does well with a patience, force free groomer, and is truly a remarkable boy! The only problem he will need continued work on is vet visits as he does require a little sedative and muzzle for vetting. He also gets daily gabapentin to curb his mild anxiety which has helped him blossom here in rescue. This medication will need to be continued by any potential adopter with no exceptions. We understand it sounds like a lot, but our plan is super easy to follow, we will be available as a support system and will offer a foster situation for Kodi. He can be picky about people he allows in his circle, but if you are a good person that doesn't get overwhelmed he accepts you immediately as a friend. He will make the right family a perfect addition! To adopt Kodi, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pogo is a stunning black and tan Pomsky who has found himself in several homes in his short life. In one home he did have a shock collar used which left him with a wound on his neck that has long since healed. He is 3 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Pogo takes time to adjust to a new home and new people so you must have patience during the transition phase. He will also need a spot that is his safety zone whether a crate or room that is designated for him to use when he gets scared or overwhelmed. This provides a healthy way for him to leave situations and calm himself. This boy is smart and HIGHLY ENERGETIC! Pogo does require a fenced yard as he needs a space to burn off his energy. He would be perfect for competitive agility or lure coursing because he is fast, healthy, and agile. Pogo needs a very active home that will fulfill his physical and mental needs. This boy is also HILARIOUS! He is so quirky, fun, and is sure to make you laugh everyday. Pogo is great with other playful dogs too; he plays just right with the super small furkids and the big furkids like him. He also loves to get the other dogs to chase him, that is his happiest time when he is in the lead with dogs on his heals. The downside to Pogo is he has a lack of impulse control so he likes to get into things (this is a work in progress), but a quick squeak of a ball and toss, he will drop what he is doing to fetch. He is also reactive to new people which is all vocal, but it can be scary for the person so he will need continued socialization and positive reinforcement to overcome his fear. In fact, once he bonds to his human he listens well and focuses on them which makes for a great time being out and about without him having issues. He is great for grooming with a little calming medication and the same for vet visits. He does enjoy car rides, and he has learned how to use a crate properly too. So if you are looking for a wild child, who needs a little help broadening his horizon then Pogo is the boy for you! We have sure enjoyed having him here in rescue, but it is time for him to find his forever home... To adopt Pogo, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), bloodwork, fecal, microchip, neuter, and all the love and laughs you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 19, 2024, 4:34 pm
