Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Ginger is an amazing dog and would make the perfect lone-pet...meaning, NO OTHER PETS! For the most part, she gets along with our other dog and xxxx@xxxx.x we had first. On occasion, however, she'll go after the other dog (German Shephard), and last night went after the cat. Which sadly, lands us here. So again, Ginger would make an absolute awesome lone-pet addition to a loving, caring home! NO OTHER PETS!! Ginger is a Designer Breed. She's half Pomeranian and half Shiba Inu. She's beautiful. She was a very expensive dog. She's 6 years old and weighs roughly 14 pounds. She is house-trained, immunizations are up-to-date, loves long walks, loves to nap, loves people...she's a lap-dog for sure! Ginger is crate trained, and spends time in her crate when we are going to be out of the house more than a couple hours, and sleeps in her crate at night. She does perfectly fine out of the crate, and the crate would not be necessary if she were a lone-pet, but that's completely up to you.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Phoenix is a beautiful, energetic 1 year old, 12 pound Pom looking for her happily ever after! This girl takes a few days to settle in, but then it's snuggles, playtime, and her being silly. Phoenix does need a fenced yard as she isn't confident on a leash yet. She is house trained, crate trained, good in a car, good at the vet, and good with grooming. She does tend to prefer and play best with other small female dogs, but warms up to the boys with time and proper supervision. This girl is sure to capture everyone's heart wherever she goes, and is all vetted in time for a forever home! To adopt Phoenix, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, spay, and all the love you can handle! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I am Beau, a cute, feisty 6-year-old, 10-pound Pomeranian looking for my next great adventure of a forever home. I get along with my furry foster friends but will appropriately correct other dogs if they make me uncomfortable. I could do well as an only dog getting everyone’s full attention or with other small furry friends. I am completely housetrained and will even give you a little sign if you forget. I definitely know when it's feeding time but generally sleep late in the morning, so breakfast time is negotiable. I am leash trained and like to lead the pack. Sometimes, I pull or get a little excited on the leash, but I do love a fenced yard. I like my rides in the car and adventures. I'm okay with grooming until you get to my nails. I might need a muzzle there. I'm also okay with at the vet with a little help (sedative medication). I attach quickly to my humans and look forward to doing the same with my furever family. I just need to feel secure and have boundaries set with a crate in order to thrive. I am alternately a cuddler and independent type, so the best of both worlds. Are you my future family? Am I your future companion? To adopt Beau, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, dental, and all the love you can handle! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Eddie is a 22lb, 14 year old Pomeranian and lab mix who is pretty spry for an old guy. Aside from being a professional napper, he loves a good trot through his foster mom's fenced backyard. Eddie is very quiet and only barks if he is unhappy with a visitor or situation, such as another dog getting into his personal space. For this reason Eddie would thrive in a home as an only dog. He takes some time to warm up, but given space, he will seek out your attention and lean into you for pets and belly rubs. Eddie is food driven and loves his treats after coming inside from going potty. While Eddie walks well on a leash and doesn't pull, a fenced yard is best since he doesn't love all other dogs. Eddie is vision impaired, but can see well enough to navigate furniture and steps. He also has a keen ear for plastic food wrappers. If you have a quiet, relaxed vibe in your home, Eddie would be a perfect companion for you. Eddie's coat is more like a lab and only requires regular brushing, as opposed to regular grooming like poms. He has had a recent dental, with only 6 remaining teeth, but he does well with eating small kibble. This senior boy is just looking for a comfy spot to reside for the rest of his days. To adopt Eddie, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org.
