Story

Bodie is a sweet, energetic pug with a big personality. He gets so excited when he gets attention that he can't help but tell you all about it. He's playful, curious, loves being around other dogs, and is already starting to discover just how nice it is to have people looking out for him. He loves playing with toys and bones and will jump on the couch for a nice nap. He loves walks and does well on a leash and dog parks are amazingly fun. He is potty trained to a dog door now as well. We estimate Bodie is 4-6 years old. He came to us from Oakland Animal Services after being found as a stray, and while we don't know much about his past, we suspect he hasn't had much positive human interaction. Some of his teeth are unusually short, which our vet believes may be from chewing on a cage or enclosure. He's also a little jumpy, fearful at the vet so may need some sedation for vet appointments which isn't uncommon. Bodie has learned that humans are much nicer than those he knew in the past. He will let you pet him, carry him and touch his face which scared him at first. At our recent Oakland pug meetup, he did wonderfully mingling with dozens of pugs, and we loved seeing how much confidence he gained simply from being around friendly people and dogs. While he was fine around children at the park and at another adoption event, we would recommend older kids since we don't know his past traumas. This sweet guy has come a long way from living in a cage to being in a loving foster home and will continue to flourish in his forever home we are sure. It's hard to know what Bodie experienced before rescue, but some of his behaviors suggest that life may not have always been kind to him. He can be anxious about what's happening around him, and all of this sudden attention, affection, new people, and new experiences are a lot to process. We think there's a very sweet, loving dog underneath that uncertainty, and he just needs time to realize that this good life isn't going anywhere. Bodie is looking for someone who will meet him where he is and give him the patience and stability to build trust at his own pace. He's high energy and would likely love having another confident, friendly dog in the home to show him the ropes. We'd especially love a home where his people are around most of the time or can bring him along for adventures. Coco is an approximately 3-4-year-old pug looking for an experienced adopter who can provide a calm, predictable home and is prepared to manage her lifelong medical needs. She requires seizure medication throughout the day, a consistent daily routine, and a family committed to continuing her care. She's still working on potty training and does best with regular schedules for meals, bedtime, waking up, and trips outside. Coco has been through quite a bit medically since coming into our care earlier this year. She was found as a stray and rescued by a Good Samaritan who reached out to us when Coco began experiencing seizures and they realized they couldn't take on her medical needs long-term. Once in our care, Coco was diagnosed with heartworm disease. We treated her, and six months later, we're thrilled to share that she's officially heartworm negative! Her seizures are now controlled with medication given throughout the day, and we've learned more about her triggers to help keep her comfortable. She also had an eye that was nonvisual and prone to recurring infections, so we made the decision to have it removed. Despite everything she's been through, Coco is a sweet, gentle girl. She enjoys playing with other dogs, has a calm demeanor, and loves nothing more than finding a sunny spot to relax. Coco needs more than a loving home. She needs an adopter who understands the responsibility of managing a chronic medical condition, can maintain her medication schedule and routine, and is committed to providing her care for life. At 7 years old, Furious is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves kids, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is happiest when he can curl up in your lap for maximum snuggles. He has no problem putting his entire body on you to get as close as possible! Furious came to us as an owner surrender when his family realized their long work hours made it difficult to provide the care and attention he deserved. They wanted him to have the opportunity to find a home where he could enjoy more companionship. When we received him, we discovered that Furious has significant vision loss, with some remaining peripheral vision, which our vet later confirmed. He navigates his surroundings well, settles into new environments quickly, and enjoys toys when someone joins in to help him play. He's crate trained and potty trained, too! He was also diagnosed with bilateral ear infections and ruptured eardrums, which have left him with limited hearing. Despite these challenges, he navigates his world remarkably well. He will need patience and time to adjust to a new home and routine, along with a family willing to accommodate his sensory limitations. Furious is headed to Pug Hotel, our senior pug and hospice sanctuary partner in Ukiah, CA, where he can stay as long as he needs while we search for his perfect match. He's an incredibly loving boy who deserves a home that will appreciate his gentle nature, give him time to settle in, and provide all the comfort, companionship, and lap time he could ever want. Story

In early October, we shared our rescue mission to bring Patron back from a Southern California shelter after his previous adopter left him there without contacting us. Patron had already experienced so much before coming into our care last summer, and unfortunately, he found himself homeless once again. Since then, he's been decompressing in a loving foster home, where he's had time to settle in and feel safe. We also got him back to our vet for updated vaccines and a checkup. Patron is 7 years old, although you'd never guess it from his looks or personality! We have his original medical records, including his actual birthdate, to confirm it. Patron is a cuddly, affectionate, playful guy who gets along well with other dogs. He's house-trained, enjoys walks and trips to the dog park, and is equally happy playing or curling up for a nap. He's an easy pug to fall in love with, and once he feels comfortable with you, he'll love you wholeheartedly. One thing potential adopters should know is that Patron experiences fear and anxiety in unfamiliar situations, particularly at the vet. He will need to be sedated for veterinary visits moving forward to help make those experiences less stressful for him. We don't know what he's experienced over the past year and a half, but it's clear that some situations are frightening for him. In a familiar environment, with people he trusts, he settles in beautifully. We're looking for a home that understands rescue dogs need time to adjust and is willing to give Patron the patience, consistency, and commitment he deserves. Ideally, his family will have someone home for most of the day, enjoy including him in their daily activities, and give him the companionship he's been missing. He doesn't need a perfect home, just one that will embrace him as he is and never give up on him. Patron originally came to us as an owner surrender through a partner rescue. After multiple disruptions and another unexpected loss of stability, we want so much more for him. His foster parents are completely in love with him, and we know his forever family is going to feel just as lucky to have him. Cash is a happy, sweet-natured guy estimated to be around 6 years old. Lovingly named for his one-eyed status, Solo is a handsome middle-aged pug who came to us from the shelter as a stray. Solo is a sweet, easygoing guy who enjoys being near his people and hanging out with his foster pug siblings. He's not especially snuggly, but he likes having his people around and is always happy to entertain himself with his favorite rope toys and stuffies. He's doing great with potty training, is comfortable in his kennel, and is doing well overall in his foster home. He enjoys affection and is getting sweeter and sweeter every day. Solo is looking for a home where he can settle in, enjoy his toys, be close to his people, and continue learning at his own pace. His eye is pretty blind, and our vet thinks he can see shadows.
