This is a story that will tug at your heart. Hi. It’s me. Ava. Yes, I have the little squishy pug face. Yes, I am a middle aged lady. Yes, I am soft in every possible way. They found me wandering around Calumet City. Just out there. Alone. I am a tiny girl and the world is big. Bigger when you cannot see it very well. We think I am blind. Or close to it. What I know for sure is that I navigate with my heart. The shelter was not the place for a girl like me. Too loud. Too fast. Too much. The rescue stepped in because no one wanted me trying to survive like that. I am not a high-maintenance diva. I am a calm, docile, snuggly little lady. I move slowly. I listen carefully. I memorize the shape of a room. Once I learn it, I am good. I will toddle around like I own the place. What I really want is a person. Someone patient. Someone steady. Someone kind. Someone who does not mind being my eyes. I will follow your voice. I will lean into your legs. I will curl into you like I have known you forever. I am the kind of dog who bonds deep. Not flashy. Not chaotic. Just loyal. Devoted. Yours. If your home is quiet and your heart is open, I think we might fit together perfectly. I am probably fine with dogs, cats and kids, but since I want a quiet home, I am going to try to be your solo love bug for now. Is that okay? Come be my world. I promise I will make you mine. Update - 03/19/2026:She is an attention seeker. She hears a voice and she jumps up to find you. LOVES FOOD. she does not like it if you take too long to get her bowl ready. She has started doing a low grumbling bark when she thinks your taking too long. Loves to cuddle and be close to her people. Can this girl get any cuter?We can't imagine what she went through when she faced uncertainty and is blind. Our hearts broke. We had to keep her safe and give her a chance at finding a loving home. Through no fault of his own, he found himself owner surrendered to a shelter, but he's ready to leave that chapter behind and find the forever family he deserves. This gentle boy loves being close to his people and enjoys simply sharing your company. Gus is happiest when he's nearby. He's also fantastic with other dogs. Since arriving at the rescue, Gus has shown very little anxiety and has settled in nicely. Like many dogs, he'll benefit from a patient family who will give him a little time to adjust to his new surroundings.  We were told when being owner surrendered, the Gus is potty trained and does know how to use a bell to alert when needing to use the bathroom.  Gus is neutered, 4DX negative, microchipped, current on all vaccinations, and protected with ProHeart 12 and Bravecto.  His adoption fee is $400. 🐾 Meet Kano – The Puggy Wow Wow! 🐾 Hi there! My name is Kano, and yes... I know that's not how you spell Chihuahua. But I like to think I'm a Puggy Wow Wow! 😄 Technically, I'm what's called a "Chug"—a Pug/Chihuahua mix—but I think "Puggy Wow Wow" has a much nicer ring to it! I'm just 4 months old and weigh about 10 pounds, so I'll likely stay under 25 pounds when I'm all grown up... unless you keep sharing your snacks. (I won't complain—I consider myself quite the foodie!) Not long ago, I had a little makeover. I used to have trouble breathing because of my tiny nose, but I recently had surgery to help me breathe so much better. My rescue friends call it my "nose job," and let me tell you... I feel fantastic! Now I can run zoomies around the yard like a little rocket. While I was at the vet, I also got neutered, so I'm all set for my forever family. I'm a happy, social little guy who loves kids, other dogs, cats, and just about everyone I meet. I'm learning my leash manners, and my foster family says I'm incredibly smart. I figured out the doggy door in just one day and I'm almost completely house-trained because I know exactly when it's time to head outside. After a fun play session, my favorite place is curled up next to my people. Whether we're going for walks, exploring the neighborhood, or spending a quiet evening on the couch, I'm happiest just being with my family. I'm looking for someone who will laugh at my silly antics, spoil me with belly rubs, and love me forever. In return, I'll give you endless kisses, loyal companionship, and enough personality to keep you smiling every single day. ❤️ If you're looking for a sweet, funny, energetic best friend who's already overcome life's first challenges with a wagging tail, I just might be your perfect match.
