They found me wandering around Calumet City. Just out there. Alone. I am a tiny girl and the world is big. Bigger when you cannot see it very well. We think I am blind. Or close to it. What I know for sure is that I navigate with my heart. The shelter was not the place for a girl like me. Too loud. Too fast. Too much. The rescue stepped in because no one wanted me trying to survive like that. I am not a high-maintenance diva. I am a calm, docile, snuggly little lady. I move slowly. I listen carefully. I memorize the shape of a room. Once I learn it, I am good. I will toddle around like I own the place. What I really want is a person. Someone patient. Someone steady. Someone kind. Someone who does not mind being my eyes. I will follow your voice. I will lean into your legs. I will curl into you like I have known you forever. I am the kind of dog who bonds deep. Not flashy. Lola was brought from Kentucky by Mobile- Mutt Rescue after giving birth to 9 puppies 5 years ago. She loves meeting new people more than new dogs. Lola loves her doggie snacks and frequent walks. She's primarily been housed with seniors, but should do fine with children. Available in the next 7-10 days. Must be re-homed before July 1st.

I am Kano the Puggy Wow Wow! I know, I know that is not how you spell Chihuahua, but I think that I am a Wow Wow Pug! Or rather a “Chug” is the official name of my breed. I am only a little over 4 months old, and 10 pounds so based on those calculations, I should be under 25# when fully grown. Unless you feed me too much, that would be ok with me as I LOVE to eat!! I like to think of myself as a gourmet! I used to have some issues with my breathing and snorting but I recently had a “nose Job” and now my breathing is so great, and my energy is so much that I can now do zoomies around the yard! They also did some snip-snip in the nether regions so I can’t be a daddy puppy anymore but that is ok. If I can breathe better, it is a great trade off! I love kids, dogs, cats, people in general, and am learning to walk on a leash and be a proper little Chug. I am very smart and learn quickly. I taught myself the doggie door within a day of arriving at my foster home and am almost completely housetrained because I let myself in and out when I need to go. If you are looking for a sweet, energetic companion to go with you on walks or snuggle on the sofa at home, here I am! A kind foster found me while walking other dogs and made sure I was safe. People searched for my family for months, but no one came. Venus was rescued back in October. Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. She was very thin, every bone in her body was protruding and she had very infected abcesses all over her body from bite wounds. She had heartworms and has completed the full treatment. She has made a complete recovery and is ready to be a part of a family, something she has never had before! She does not get along with other dogs. Cats aren’t her thing either, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours? She is currently being fostered in Mississippi but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road!
