Story
Purple the pomsky/pug mix came to Angel's Retreat from a puppy mill. She is 14 weeks old and ready for her new home! This girl loves to run and play, but also is an amazing cuddle bug. She has more personality than any dog we have ever met, and will keep you laughing! She loves other dogs and all people, but can be spicy to other dogs when it comes to sharing her toys! Adopters should be prepared for all puppyhood entails including house training and basic obedience. Each pups adoption fee is sponsored! She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchiped. Please go to www.angelsretreat.org to apply!

Story
Alia is an absolute charmer, everyone who meets her loves her. She is a Sweet and spunky 10-year-old Pug, who came to the rescue as a stray. Her round head, and wrinkled brow, go well with her soft and cuddly fur coat. She requires minimal maintenance but does shed. Alia did have all but 4 teeth removed, she will require soft food for the rest of her life. Alia thrives on human companionship; she loves nothing more than a good cuddle and we are happy to oblige as we don't think she has much in the past. She loves her humans and is like Velcro to her foster there are no hiding spaces from her. She does well on a leash and loves to go for car rides. Alia is no different than other pugs, in that they do not do well in warm, humid or colder temperatures, as they have such short nasal passages. They tend to experience breathing problems. It is important that Alia receives daily opportunities for moderate exercise, such as walks or play sessions in the yard to keep her fit and not get over weight. While Alia has become very confident in our home, she still is fearful of loud noises. Alia is content with a familiar routine, so she knows what to expect. She does well with her 3 other foster fur siblings and children. However, we do feel that she will need time to decompress and needs slow introductions to other dogs when she goes to her furever home. A laid back dog or her as an only dog would be an ideal setting. Alia is potty trained, but doesn't ask to go outside, If she is taken out on a regular basis, she will go to the bathroom outside. Alia will go into a crate, but she is not happy if she can still see you, and she doesn't hesitate to let you know its not where she wants to be. Alia is UTD on vaccines, chipped, spayed and ready to find her furever home. Please visit www.zoeshouserescue.com to apply

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 25, 2023, 5:39 pm

Story
MEET SAMMIE! This wonderful pocket Pug/Cocker Spaniel mix is named Sammie! Sammie joined the rescue due to her former family needing to relocate with a family member who was highly allergic to dogs. Sammie fit right into her foster home as if she's always lived there. We have no doubt this well-rounded girl will jump right into the role of being your best friend! Sammie is 14 years old and her birthday is August 14 (we don't usually know a precise birthday!). She is currently living with other dogs and cats and gets along with them wonderfully! She has lived with young children in the past and is sweet and gentle in her interactions. She loves to snuggle up on the couch with her canine buds and mostly just likes to chill with them but you'll occasionally see her bounce around to play with them or drag a stuffed toy to chew on. Her favorite "toy" is any good stick she can find in the yard. Sammie has come to adoption events with the rescue and loved meeting new people and is very go-with-the-flow! She twirls around and does a little dance when she's extra excited! Sammie is completely deaf though it doesn't impact her daily life (except for maybe making naps even more peaceful; her favorite spot is on the top of a couch cushion). She has a complete veterinary workup and besides having some seasonal allergies around this time of the year which makes her lick/chew on her paws occasionally, she's in great shape! She does occasionally need her anal glands expressed so they don't bug her and she is allergic to chicken-based food. Sammie is crate trained and doing great with housebreaking though may need some time to adjust to your home and schedule. Sammie is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped! Interested in adopting her? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
