Story
Rocky won't ask you to take him to any parties. He is a shy, submissive loner who surprisingly doesn't like to be alone. He weighs 13 pounds and is a couch potato. He enjoys running, tugging, toys, walks, and chase. He wants to lead while on a leash. He's a good guard dog who is protective of his home. He is cautious, submissive, and jumpy around children as young as six but because of his fears and timidity he'll need to live with kids at least 15 years old so he isn't afraid. He is afraid of dogs and cats and didn't want either coming anywhere near his toys so he cannot live with a cat. He barks at dogs he meets during walks and plays rough with them at the dog park. You should consider bringing your dog to meet him as he might be happier being an only pet. He is house trained and spent his days either crated (where he feels safe) or in a room in his foster's home. In his originally home, he had free roam of the house and used a doggie dog to let himself out. His family gave him up because they moved to another country. He knows the come and no commands. He got into trouble for chewing, jumping, barking, and running away. He'll need time to warm up to you so please be patient. His foster said it took two weeks. If will be worth your while because then he will show affection and follow you everywhere. Please offer lovable Rocky the home and family he needs. (tw 5/1/2024)

Story
Hi, I'm Wilcrest. If you're a Houstonian, you may conclude how I got my name. I am sweet and shy at first but I'm friendly with cats, small dogs, and children. I love the safety of the my kennel and I even know where to go potty- outside! I am learning to walk on a leash and know that with practice, it'll be a perfect trip! I'm not too keen on being alone and will let you know. In order to be safe and secure, I need another pup in my forever home to help me come out of my shell. If you're looking for a companion to accompany you through life, I just might be your girl!

Story
Meet Rupert, the short legged, long body pup that's butt wiggles for days! He is about a year old and full of life. He is ready to make someone laugh until it hurts!  Rupert enjoys long car rides and walks on the beach or the nearest trail. Dog play social groups are so much fun! He hasn't really met a dog he didn't like! Kids are awesome and a plus in Rupert's book, they are more friends to play and snuggle with! Cats, are scary and would prefer a home/yard with out them. If you're looking for a best friend, Rupert is the pup for you! Rupert is still young with Jack Russell energy and will need some basic leash skills and a place to burn his energy.   If you are interested in Rupert, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to SCP for review!   The adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.   Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!May 7, 2024, 11:24 am
