Story
Meet Penny! She is a very sweet dog who loves to run and play with her dog friends! She also loves dog toys and will even play ball by herself. She takes a bit to warm up to people. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She just prefers dogs over people. She will need to be in a home with a pack of dogs so she can live her best life! She does well with kids, cats, chickens, and (of course) dogs. She doesn't chase cats or chickens. She is house trained and doesn't chew things up. When first meeting people, she is a little skittish. It is important to let her set the pace. She will need someone with patience who understands that she is more of a pack dog than a people dog.November 4, 2024, 3:23 pm

Story
I adopted Nate from the humane society when I was in college, about 12.5 years ago. He was just two months old at the time and has always lived with me since as his primary owner. Sometime when he was a few years old, he was mistreated by apartment maintenance personnel that changed his temperament towards new people. Although not aggressive, he is skeptical of new faces in his home environment and takes time to warm up to people. He has never acted aggressively towards our children, but I would never forgive myself if something were to happen. For that reason he has transitioned to being an outdoor dog, but I believe that is very hard on him in his old age and in this weather. I am hoping to find a loving home for him where he can have regular companionship again and comfort. I would love to meet up with you either in your home or at a dog park for you to meet Nate and see if it would be a good fit for you. Thank you!

Story
"Courtesy Post" This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  "MEET RIVER" He was born at Clayton County Humane Society to mom Kelly who is also still up for adoption. River has been completely vetted which includes microchipping, neutering, ALL current and up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm tested, heartworm and flea prevention and completed deworming. River was a live birth to mom Kelly on 02/06/2022 along with 7 siblings. River and his brother Jasper that is also still available for adoption had the chance at a forever home as puppies but were unfortunately returned after 6 months as a lifestyle change occurred and they could no longer care for River and Jasper. With River and Jasper size they are usually overlooked due to medium to larger size dogs being picked last for adoption. 3 years have went by already with living in shelter life. They do get the opportunity to go on routine scenic dog walks and adventures and have outside free time. River would do well as a only dog as he can be quiet timid and shy but is very friendly to people. He can bark at children as he is just timid and needs some quality time to develop and blossom outside of chaos that can arise from shelter living. He is very active and would make a great companion to someone who loves to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have a big back yard for him to run he would greatly enjoy that too!! River and Jasper deserve a true chance at a forever home and someone who has patience in understanding that decompression and a trusting bond is viable for them to open up and show all of their personality. They love treat time and always welcome us with a wagging tail and great disposition. I encourage quality one on one time to be spent so that you can see all the potential that they have!! Let's give River and Jasper a FOREVER home ! River is in good health and ready to be adopted into his forever loving home Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $250 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  December 30, 2025, 6:56 pm

Story
Tyson – ID 15913 – Kennel 825 Catahoula Leopard Dog mix – black and brown – male - Arrived Dec 26 Approx. 1 year old – 78 lb (estimated adult weight 80–90 lb) Will be neutered prior to adoption – up to date on vaccines – heartworm negative Tyson is a big-hearted, high-energy young dog who is bursting with enthusiasm and personality. At just about a year old, he’s still very much a puppy at heart — curious, excited, and eager to be involved in everything happening around him. He takes treats well and clearly enjoys engaging with people. Tyson walked fairly well on leash to the outdoor kennel and will continue to improve with practice and guidance. Right now, he’s still learning how to slow down and focus, but with consistency and positive training, he has all the potential to become a wonderful companion. Because of his size and energy level, Tyson would thrive in a home without small children. He would do best as the only dog in the home, allowing him to feel secure, relaxed, and fully bonded to his people. Tyson is still working on his house-training skills, and with patience, routine, and encouragement, he’s sure to make progress. Tyson is looking for a confident, committed adopter who can help him channel his energy into exercise, structure, and companionship. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
