Story
Meet Penny! She is a very sweet dog who loves to run and play with her dog friends! She also loves dog toys and will even play ball by herself. She takes a bit to warm up to people. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She just prefers dogs over people. She will need to be in a home with a pack of dogs so she can live her best life! She does well with kids, cats, chickens, and (of course) dogs. She doesn't chase cats or chickens. She is house trained and doesn't chew things up. When first meeting people, she is a little skittish. It is important to let her set the pace. She will need someone with patience who understands that she is more of a pack dog than a people dog.November 4, 2024, 3:23 pm

Story
The decision to re-home our Honey is a very difficult one, I have to do what is best for her, my family, and I. This decision is based on my being overwhelmed. I have experienced personal health issues. My sister became ill with cancer, so I am caring for her child. I also care for my grandchild most of the week. I also care for my son's senior German Shepherd. Honey deserves better. She will surely thrive. She has a great temperament. Very calm and sweet. She loves to go on hikes and camping. She was born on: Superbowl Sunday, February 12, 2023 From 7:40pm to 10:50pm Born #5 out of 6 puppies Her and her twin brother were born after mom took a one and a half hour break from delivering. Mom: Great Pyrenees and Maremma Sheepdog Dad: African Rhodesian Ridgeback She is about 90-100 pounds. She is food-driven. Loves to run in the yard.

Story
I adopted Nate from the humane society when I was in college, about 12.5 years ago. He was just two months old at the time and has always lived with me since as his primary owner. Sometime when he was a few years old, he was mistreated by apartment maintenance personal that changed his temperament towards new people. That said, he has never bitten anyone. In recent years my family has grown and my wife and I are uncomfortable having him around our young babies. He has never acted aggressively towards them, but I would never forgive myself if something were to happen. For that reason he has transitioned to being an outdoor dog, but I believe that is very hard on him in his old age and in this weather. I am hoping to find a loving home for him where he can have regular companionship again and comfort.

Story
"Courtesy Post" This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  "MEET RIVER" He was born at Clayton County Humane Society to mom Kelly who is also still up for adoption. River has been completely vetted which includes microchipping, neutering, ALL current and up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm tested, heartworm and flea prevention and completed deworming. River was a live birth to mom Kelly on 02/06/2022 along with 7 siblings. River and his brother Jasper that is also still available for adoption had the chance at a forever home as puppies but were unfortunately returned after 6 months as a lifestyle change occurred and they could no longer care for River and Jasper. With River and Jasper size they are usually overlooked due to medium to larger size dogs being picked last for adoption. 3 years have went by already with living in shelter life. They do get the opportunity to go on routine scenic dog walks and adventures and have outside free time. River would do well as a only dog as he can be quiet timid and shy but is very friendly to people. He can bark at children as he is just timid and needs some quality time to develop and blossom outside of chaos that can arise from shelter living. He is very active and would make a great companion to someone who loves to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have a big back yard for him to run he would greatly enjoy that too!! River and Jasper deserve a true chance at a forever home and someone who has patience in understanding that decompression and a trusting bond is viable for them to open up and show all of their personality. They love treat time and always welcome us with a wagging tail and great disposition. I encourage quality one on one time to be spent so that you can see all the potential that they have!! Let's give River and Jasper a FOREVER home ! River is in good health and ready to be adopted into his forever loving home Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $250 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  November 24, 2025, 8:32 pm

Story
Meet Shorty -- a very sweet boy with a big heart! Shorty is a happy, loving little guy who just wants to be close to his people. This adorable 1.5-year-old Catahoula Leopard/Beagle mix, weighing about 44 lbs, was saved at the very last moment from Polk County Shelter. He&#39s a truly special boy with striking heterochromia--one warm brown eye and one beautiful blue--that make him unforgettable. At first, Shorty was scared and unsure, but once he realized he was safe, his personality blossomed. Now he&#39s full of love, kisses, and tail wags! He&#39s still a bit shy, when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and shows his affectionate side in no time. Shorty adores other dogs and loves running around the house with his canine friends--he fits right into the pack! He&#39s also cat-friendly and doesn&#39t bother them at all. He&#39d be happiest in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company. Shorty is crate-trained, potty-trained, and learning his leash manners like a champ. He has a low to medium energy level and enjoys a mix of playtime and snuggles. While he&#39s a bit nervous getting into the car, he absolutely loves the ride once it&#39s underway. And don&#39t let his short legs fool you--this little guy can really move! Shorty is the perfect blend of gentle, loyal, and fun--a wonderful companion ready to bring joy to his forever family. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Story
Meet Peep, a happy and smart girl looking for her forever family! Peep is a Black Mouth Cur/Mix, and is estimated to have been born in July of 2024. She is a medium-sized girl, and will likely weigh around 55lbs when fully mature. This deserving girl was picked up as a stray and taken to an overcrowded animal shelter. She ended up on the euthanasia list due to space before BarkVille Dog Rescue stepped in to save her. Peep absolutely loves other dogs, and would love to live in a house with another playful and fun-loving pup! She can be shy with men, but warms up quickly and is easily won over! Peep is warm and friendly with kids. She is an energetic girl, but is very intelligent - she already knows multiple commands and is a quick learner! Peep will be an excellent and loving companion for a family or person looking to add an active girl to their household! She would love a fenced yard, although this is not a requirement for her. She would thrive with regular exercise/play time, and an owner who will continue to work on her basic obedience and leash skills. Peep is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you&#39re interested in adopting this sweet girl, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications.
