Story
We are courtesy posting for Mera's foster, she is under Ash tree Ranch Rescue so you can go to their site or email us and we'll put you in touch.
Mera never imagined her family would dump her at a California shelter. She was scared, confused, and heartbroken. 💜 Shelters can be overwhelming, and before she knew it, she was placed on the euthanasia list. Can you believe they were going to end her life? Thankfully, Ash Tree Ranch Rescue saved her just in time.
She is about 5 years old and a true Rottweiler through and through. She's a big, beautiful girl at about 105 pounds.
Mera hates to brag, but she's pretty amazing on a leash. She doesn't pull, and she couldn't care less if dogs bark at her from behind fences. She thinks they're a little immature. She prefers a nice, leisurely pace, which is why her foster family sometimes calls her "Mera Turtle."
Even though she's calm, she's still young and healthy, so she needs daily exercise. Her foster mom says getting her "wiggles" out helps her make better choices—and she's right!
No one really taught Mera manners before, so she's making up for lost time. She's learning boundaries and lots of commands, including "leave it" (especially for those tempting bunnies), "park it" (go to her bed or kennel), and "drop it." Her foster parents are patient and consistent, and she's proving that she's smart and eager to learn.
Mera absolutely loves her kennel. It's her safe place, and she sleeps peacefully through the night... although her loud snoring might give her away!
She's also learning that blankets belong on the dog beds—not in her mouth—and that socks, counters, bathroom trash cans, and toilet water are all off-limits now. Let's just say she's left some embarrassing habits behind!
The good news? Mera loves treats, loves learning, and genuinely wants to please her people. She'll need a family that continues her training with patience, consistency, and kindness, but she promises she's worth every bit of the effort.
She also enjoys being pampered. Her foster mom brushes her, cleans her ears, and trims her nails, and she happily cooperates because a beautiful girl has standards! Once she trusts someone, she'll roll over for belly rubs and gently place her paw in their hand. Holding hands is one of her favorite things.
Right now, she gets along well with her 10-year-old male Rottweiler foster brother. She hasn't met enough other dogs or children yet to know how she'll do with them, so she'll continue learning together. Cats are definitely not her thing.
Mera is looking for a family that will give her daily exercise, loving guidance, and the structure she's never had before. Her foster family says she's a diamond in the rough, and they're right. Every single day she shines a little brighter.
If someone is willing to invest their heart in her, she promises to repay them with unwavering loyalty, companionship, and all the love a rescued Rottweiler can give.
Could you be the family she's been waiting for? Mera is fostered in Colorado. ATRRi can arrange transport to approved adopters most anywhere in the United States and some parts of Canada, at the adopter's expense.
