Story
Hi! My name is Midnight! I am a spunky 7 month old, female, Rottweiler/Pit mix. I weigh about 55 lbs and am almost full grown. My mama (a purebred rottweiler) gave birth to me while under the care of Mile High Canine Rescue. I am such a happy girl! Got kiddos? Sweet!! I LOVE them! Got other dogs? Oh yeah…playmates!!! I would really love a home with another dog, so if your dog needs a best pal to play with all the time…I am your girl!! At night, I enjoy relaxing with my peeps and watching a good TV show (Netflix bingeing anyone?) and then sleeping quietly in my foster mama’s bedroom. Did I also mention I am crate trained and housebroken? I even use a dog door. I do have a lot of energy, so a fenced yard is a must for me. I really love being here in Colorado (my mom was from Texas) and would really thrive being a part of a family that hikes, camps, runs or is otherwise active. I can totally keep up! I walk pretty darn well on my no-pull front harness too! I know a few basic commands and I am very food motivated so I am totally up to learn more. Gosh, I sound AWESOME! Oh…and you should check out my tail…it is super long…like I can’t believe how long it is! LOL! But better to happy tail wag with! Midnight is in foster in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/midnight/. Story
Handsome Billy! This kiddo is so ready to get out of the shelter and find his next home! He has enjoyed the company of some dogs in the past, but can get overwhelmed when pups have a rambunctious playstyle, so HSBV recommends a dog introduction at the shelter if entering a multi-dog home to ensure it's the right fit. Billy might also do best in a home with older or no children.

Story
Merida is a playful, sweet girl who wants to please her people. She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, great in the car and on a leash.  She is good with both male and female larger dogs. She would do best with another dog friend to help her gain confidence, but it's not necessary.  It's clear that someone was very heavy-handed when handling her in the past. So she takes a few minutes to get used to new people but is okay with a quiet approach and quiet hands when first meeting.  Merida is working to let go of her past trauma and is learning that not all people will hurt her. She is doing great and is already a different dog than when she arrived.  Merida will be a great companion for someone with experience working with protection dog breeds. Experience with Rottweilers would be best.  Unfortunately, Merida's prey drive is too high for cats or small dogs. She is learning that small children exist, so she would only be best with older children for now.  Merida would benefit from continued obedience training. Not because she needs it but because she appreciates clear and gentle direction and will excel at anything once she knows what is expected of her.  Merida is a gentle soul and deserves a loving home where she can be her best self. Her adoption fee is $250 Put in an application at www.eapl.com Staff Notes from her sending shelter: Merida is an extremely affectionate girl! She loves snuggling with people, and had a great time in the yard! She has a beautiful smile, and will surely steal your heart! She is good on leash, and sits perfectly! She is quite the little love bug!    October 4, 2023, 6:26 pm

Story
**Mollie is a board and train dog through Brighter Days.  Please read all about this before applying to adopt** Mollie is a 2 year old Rottie mix Mollie was surrendered to Brighter Days Dog Resue because her previous owners had never taken the time to train her properly.  Becuase of this she was surrendered to Brighter Days to find a family who actually has the time and dedication a 4-legged companion needs.  When an adult dog comes to us lacking any sort of training we immediately get them into our board and train program.  One of the main reasons dogs get euthanized in an overcrowded shelter is due to lack of training.  When we started Brighter Days we made a commitment that we would make sure every single Brighter Days Dog would be set up for a life time of success, which includes training.  Our trainer works so hard to get these dogs to be wonderful, stable, balanced, obedient, great dogs.  To make sure their hard work is not lost over time due to owners who don't continue the training, we require each one of our adopters who is adopting a board and train dog to take our trainers classes in longmont.  It is an eight week course that is usually $300, but for Brighter Days adopters it is free! Here is what our Trainer has to say about Mollie: Mollie is a high energy, hilarious, sweet and affectionate dog. Mollie will need daily exercise, so an active home is best for her, a home that enjoys walking, running, hiking, etc. Also she needs a house with a big yard and a fully enclosed with a 6 foot privacy fence. She is an awesome dog and will be perfect for the right, active family.  We are going to require Molly goes to a home without other dogs, cats, and kids just to make sure she is set up for success.   If you are inerested in adopting Mollie please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##1403699##
