Story
Koko is located with our friends over at Black Dog Animal Rescue. Please visit www.bdar.org or call 307.514.4024 to learn more about adopting him! Meet Koko! This senior man is a true introvert and has us all a little perplexed. He has no desire to bond with people but is tolerant when forced to spend time with them. Will Koko give you cuddles? No. Will he want to spend time with you and your family on the couch? No. Does he even want to come inside the house? Not really. Would he enjoy being fed regularly? Yes. Would he like a comfy dog house in a nice yard or on some land he can roam? Absolutely! It’s not often that we recommend a dog be adopted as an outside dog but we do think he’d be happiest if that was the arrangement. He's a real lone wolf. He is very good on a leash though and we think he would enjoy daily walks - which might be a good way to develop a bond with him. Bonus points if the walks are in the snow - he LOVES snow! While Koko is not looking for anyone, he has to have someone to at least be kind to him and provide him the basics. So, we are looking for a home for Koko that understands his desire to do his own thing and maybe offer a head pat or two when Koko wants it. And, who knows, maybe as time goes on Koko will learn how nice it is to be a part of a family that wants to include him in their lives. But, until that day comes, he needs someone to love and accept him just the way he is. Don't we all? If Koko sounds like a dog you would be interested in caring for, apply to meet him today!

Story
Meet Gertrude! Gertrude is an adorable 5–6-year-old, 56-lb Shar-Pei/American Bulldog mix who is ready to find her forever family—a family that will appreciate her gentle heart, her calm nature, and all the love she has to give. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other relaxed, easygoing dogs and is currently thriving in a foster home with four mellow canine friends. Rambunctious or dominant dogs aren’t really her style, and she has not been evaluated with cats. Gertrude has been around children and does wonderfully, especially with older, dog-savvy kids who enjoy giving her attention. With her intuitive, people-focused personality, Gertrude may even have the potential to become an emotional support or therapy dog with a bit of training. She is incredibly attuned to human emotions and loves being close, especially when someone needs comfort. If you are looking for a loyal best friend, a laid-back snuggle buddy, and a daily source of smiles… Gertrude is your girl. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Gertrude has been diagnosed with dry eye, which requires lifelong daily eye drops. Fortunately, she’s extremely easy to medicate—and the drops are affordable (around $30/month). She knows they help her feel better! Story
Camilla is a gorgeous cream shar-pei mix and this girl landed in the shelter after being abandoned in an RV with other dogs. Cami has lived with other dogs, but we've found she would do best as an only dog or a with neutral or submissive male dogs. She is very good with people, and apparently has seen the world (or maybe US) by car/travel. Camilla is about 4 years old, is spayed and had entropion eyelid surgery and has all her vaccines and a microchip. She is about 45 pounds. She is fostering in the San Francisco area and we will post more as we learn it.December 1, 2025, 3:01 pm

Story
Meet Donette: Your Wrinkly Walking Companion! Looking for a leash-walking superstar with adorable rolls for days? Say hello to Donette, a charming shar-pei who's ready to trot into your heart! This spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated lady has mastered the art of the neighborhood stroll—though fair warning, she's got some serious prey drive when it comes to cats on the run! What Makes Donette Special: • __Perfect Leash Manners__ (after the initial excitement wears off!) • __Crate Trained Pro__ – sleeps like a dream and eats her meals politely in her den • __Gentle Treat Taker__ with zero food aggression • __Easy-Going for Grooming__ – ears, paws, tail? No problem! • __Dog-Friendly__ (with proper introductions) and currently living harmoniously with other pups. She much prefers the calmer dogs in the home and avoids the rambunctious puppish dogs (so annoying!) Donette's Dream Home: This sweet girl thrives in a calm, adult-only household where she can decompress and build confidence at her own pace. She's still learning that toys are fun and would love a patient family who understands that unpredictable movements and loud noises make her nervous (hence no small kids). Give her space around her head, and she'll reward you with loyalty and companionship! __Ideal Match:__ Adults or older kids only, no small children, cat-free home, patient dog lovers who appreciate a work-in-progress with tons of potential! She is probably a one person dog. Ready to give Donette the peaceful, loving home she deserves? She's waiting to meet you! She is fostering in Southern California (San Bernadino county).December 8, 2025, 7:58 pm

Story
Gordon found himself in a California shelter, and he was such a good boy that Pei People couldn't wait to rescue him! Gordon is about 36 pounds (very small), is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. Shelter aged him at 6 years old, but foster thinks more like 4 years old. (so far, he's not telling us!) Gordon is even good in a crate (he sleeps there at night). He took a week or two to learn the dog door and potty training, but now is a pro and no accidents in the house. He would love a yard...really enjoys being outside. He also likes toys and balls. He is good with other dogs and is ready for a new home! He is fostering in Manteca, California area.December 16, 2025, 10:07 pm

Story
Sade is a high energy German Shepherd, Boxer mix. She gets along with other dogs but needs to be supervised at first because she can be a bit annoying to other dogs with her play style. She gets along with cats, horses, donkeys, and smaller animals like chickens with supervision. She has not been to the vet in a year. She has some issues gaining weight which may be caused by eating a battery before we adopted her. We are rehoming her because we are not giving her the time she needs and deserves.
