He will patiently wait until you’ve stopped loving him even after he’s had his fill. His sweet soul will shine through after one look into his gentle eyes. Tyler enjoys playing with his sister and chasing her in the yard. He plays nicely with children, too. He enjoys his naps after lengthy playtimes.Amber is a princess in every sense of the word! She loves being pampered and massaged. She’ll let you know that she wants some petting by nudging your hand. She loves bath time and considers it her personal spa time! Amber is a sweet and sassy girl who looks and acts more like a puppy. This quirky girl will perform for you to get more attention. She’s a smart and funny pup who will melt your heart!Both Tyler and Amber are 11 year old Shar Pei/German Shepherd mixes who are heart worm free, up to date on vaccinations, neutered/spayed and microchipped. Chulo has limited vision. He navigates the world through his other senses. He needs an environment where his people want to help him experience all the wonders of the world while always providing positive reinforcement. Our sweet sharpei mix arrived after his owners were arrested, knowing they had no other family to take him, he was surrendered to the shelter. Chulo was a give-away, this 1yr old, 50 pound mush, was just given away to the first person that said, Yes!. His owners only had him for 2 months, before he was given to the shelter. They didn't even know he was blind, when we went to get Chulo, a family member mentioned he continued bumping into walls, they said his eyes had crust in them. Chulo deserves a home that truly wants him, loves him and will provide the structure he needs to flourish regardless he can't see. He was lucky enough to go into a foster home upon arrival. It was in this home that he showed his true personality of being a total love-bug. He LOVES attention and loves to lay on the couch. He becomes extremely anxious in a crate, thrashing around, clearly unable to settle. Once they put him in a separate room he was fine. We don't know if in his previous home he was left alone crated for hours on end, but we do know, he feels lost when his people aren't near. Due to his inability to see the interaction with other dogs is hard, in his foster home he got into some fights with the resident dog; it was due to this - he had to be returned. Chulo's ideal forever home is an adult home only, with structure and new experiences. There are so many adventures for him to participate in. Meet Coco. This gorgeous girl is a Shar Pei mix, about 8yrs old and weighs roughly 45lbs. Coco likes people and everyone she meets falls in love with her. The staff at her current shelter adore her and say she is easy to manage. She is fine with other dogs in most situations, but she gets a little nervous if they invade her personal space. She is attracted to puppies and calm dogs. Coco is not a fan of felines. It is a weakness for her at present, but her trainer is working on it with her. She is interested in kids but due to her size, children over 13yrs would be best. Unlike many dogs, storms and fireworks do not bother Coco. She’s not necessarily a lap dog but she loves to be with her people – she likes car rides and naps, she loves to be brushed and she’s good in the bath. Coco loves water and is a good swimmer. She’s very agile and smart. Coco is house trained, crate trained and good on a leash. She is spayed and UTD on all. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Alfred (TX) is a male maybe Shar Pei mix with maybe some Can Corso rescued in Texas.  Our vet partners estimate his age as 5 years old at the time of intake in April 2023.   He is good with all people and dogs but no cats for this guy. Alfred would be wonderful in a home with just adults who can shower him with affection.  Alfred has a familiar story, homeless living on the streets and ignore by everyone that sees him.  That is until one of our volunteers spotted him.  He was sleeping in the dirt stressed worrying about finding his next meal.  He was in danger of being hit by a car or attacked by animals or other dogs.  Well that stress and fear is over, he is safe and learning that life is good.  All he needs now is to find his forever family and start that life we have been telling him about. Alfred i s a sweetheart who loves everybody and any dog he meets. He would do well with someone that is home often and an equal size companion to play with. He is completely house broken and puts himself to sleep in his crate. He is only crated when no one is home. He knows No and stop. He is working on basic commands like sit and such. He is extremely food motivated and should train quickly. He loves his toys and can play fetch for hours.. I’m Iggy Pop, a 2-year-old Shar Pei/ Terrier Mix weighing 50 pounds. Found as a stray by a kind “good sam”, I was in pretty rough shape. Thanks to my friends here at the MCSPCA, I’m back on my feet, ready to go on tour and find my forever home! Like a true punk rocker, I can get easily rowdy on my walks if I get bored or frustrated. In the meantime, while my adopters help with my leash walking skills, a yard for me to run around in would be a dream lifestyle for me! Need an autograph or a selfie? No problem! I’m never one to shy away from my fans, oops I mean people. One social dude, I love seeking attention and affection from everyone I meet…..especially my foster parents! Being in a home, giving me a break from shelter life has been invigorating! While I have free roam of the home, I generally spend most of my day napping in my bed or running in the fenced yard. I love toys, but will rip them apart, so it’s best to constantly have a backup for me. I don’t want to brag, but I’m also a smart guy with major stage presence. My fosters reported back that I know cues such as Sit, Down, Paw, Spin, Roll Over, Crawl, Stay, Come and Go to Bed. The possibilities are endless with what else I’m able to learn! Always wanted a pittie with a fun loving melody for life? The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-ins every day, starting at noon!
