Howdy Doody Northeastern people, I’m a very handsome 1-1/2-year-old, 45 lb male Shar Pei mix, now named Freedom, for a very good reason! I was living in Atascosa, Texas, and being abused by my owner. Frequently, the neighbors would see me being beaten, and one day, when the opportunity presented itself, one of the neighbors took me. Not only was I finally safe, but my owners didn’t even care. They never asked about me or looked for me, so a few weeks later, I was taken in by 4 Little Paws Rescue and sent to a foster home. I am now vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, happy, and healthy, and although I am missing some teeth and still have some scars from a dog who attacked me, I am a very grateful boy, and am dreaming of a loving forever home! It turns out I am the sweetest, nicest, friendliest dog, and I love everyone… all humans, other dogs, and kitty cats. My foster mom says I wake up every morning in a happy mood, greeting her with my goofy smile with hardly any teeth and lots of wagging and body wiggles. Yes, I am a dog who smiles when feeling happy or getting treats, and I also love to share kisses. What can I say?.. My heart is full of love, and I am very affectionate. I am also very nicely behaved, housebroken, and I know how to use a doggy door. I’m not really into dog toys, but I am into playtime with my dog friends, running zoomies, chasing tennis balls, going for walks, and rides in the car. Meet Leo- 8 year old Sharpei mix His dad gave him to Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society in a parking lot because his grandson had allergies and could not bring him back home. He just had him groomed but just could not bring him home. Leo was very loved by his family but they could not keep him. Heartbreaking as his dad keeps in touch to see how he is- he just did not realize you can not just give a dog away in a parking lot- it is so dangerous- he just did not know. So glad we were there on another dog surrender meet when Leo and his dad drove up. He is neutered, UTD on all; housetrained, great on leash, gets along with dogs, loves to play. Oakley and his sister Fern were rescued from Gangneung Shelter in South Korea during Operation Noel in December 2024. While Fern found her forever home last spring, Oakley stayed behind to continue growing and building confidence with the help of our team in Korea. Over the past year, he’s matured beautifully and is now ready for his next chapter. Since arriving in NYC, Oakley has hit the ground running. He stepped off the plane curious and confident, immediately exploring his surroundings with enthusiasm. In foster care, he’s settling in wonderfully. He loves his walks and happily bounces along the sidewalks, taking everything in. At home, Oakley is equally content playing with his toys or curling up for a well earned nap, depending on the vibe. RUSS is a gorgeous fully vetted male who looks to have some Shar pei and maybe Husky in him - look at those forehead wrinkles! He's a little unsure about the change in his circumstances right now, but he's going through decompression quiet low stimulation time which should help him relax and acclimate. We did get him fully vetted, and his foster is just getting to know him a bit, and says he's a sweet boy who is doing well with other dogs and likes attention. He's vet estimated at 4 years old or so, and came in at 54 lbs there. We'll report back with more pics and info as soon as we get them from his foster. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes.
