Meet Anthony: Professional Goofball, Champion Snuggler & Very Good Boy
Anthony is a handsome Shar Pei mix born on January 27, 2026, and currently weighing in at about 50 pounds of puppy enthusiasm. He’s still growing into his paws—and, occasionally, forgetting that he is no longer a tiny baby.
Anthony had a pretty rough beginning. He was injured by his mother as a young puppy and had to be separated from her at just five weeks old. He also dealt with seizures and food allergies early in life. But this resilient boy has come a LONG way!
Today, Anthony is happy, active, and healthy. His medical conditions are well controlled with medication and a special diet, and he has been seizure-free for many months. His difficult start certainly hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for life—or people—or dogs—or basically anything fun.
Anthony is, in technical terms, a goofy, goofy boy. His best feature is definitely his ears. Sometimes they move together, sometimes they don’t, but they let you know how he is feeling. He also loves to tilt his head when he hears something interesting.
He LOVES people and other dogs and approaches life with the enthusiasm of someone who has just discovered that every day might contain snacks, walks, friends, and belly rubs. He’s affectionate, playful, and an excellent snuggler once he’s finished being ridiculous.
Anthony currently lives with two large dogs and teenage children, so he’s already accustomed to sharing his home with both canine and human companions. He would be great in a home with another dog who enjoys having a playful buddy. But another dog definitely isn’t a requirement! Anthony would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only canine child, soaking up every last bit of human attention for himself. Honestly, he sees advantages to both arrangements.
Cats are an unknown. Anthony has not been tested with cats, so we simply don’t know yet how he would feel about having a feline roommate.
Because Anthony is still a puppy, he’s a little mouthy when he gets excited and hasn’t quite figured out that a 50-pound puppy shouldn’t necessarily behave like a 10-pound puppy. For that reason, a home with older children would probably be the best fit. His current teenage housemates can confirm that living with Anthony means occasionally being enthusiastically reminded that he is, in fact, still a puppy.
Anthony is currently in training, knows basic commands, and is making progress with potty training. While he continues working on this important life skill, he would do best in a home where he won’t routinely be left alone for long periods of time. A family that can give him plenty of opportunities to get outside—and continue reinforcing all the good things he’s learning—would be ideal.
And when you’re home? Anthony is VERY willing to supervise whatever you’re doing. From the couch. Preferably touching you.
