Story
Tank is a nearly 7-month-old pup (born May 29, 2025) who already weighs 53 lbs—and he’s just getting started. We believe he’s a Shar Pei / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and he’s expected to grow into a big, handsome guy around 80–90 lbs. For his size, Tank is actually pretty calm, but don’t be fooled—he’s still very much a puppy. Tank was surrendered by his owners by no fault of his own. He’s super sweet, affectionate, and social, but he’s also strong and a little mouthy, which means he’ll need a home committed to ongoing training, structure, and consistency. With his future size, good manners will be essential. Tank does well with other dogs, can be cat tested, and would be best with older children, as he may be a bit too much for the littlest family members. If you’re ready to invest time in training a big puppy who has all the potential to become an amazing adult dog, Tank is ready to grow up with you. Apply at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Story
Mr Perriwinkle ACCT-A-238827 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Mr Perriwinkle must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by SATURDAY, December 27th at 10AM. Should Mr Perrywinkle's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Mr Perriwinkle came to ACCT as a stray, after being secured by our animal protection officers and local police. Mr Perriwinkle was originally enjoying his adventure with a female canine companion, who was able to be scooped up and taken to ACCT the night before. Unfortunately, this female dog tested positive for parvovirus, so we needed to be extra cautious with Mr Perriwinkle.  Mr Perriwinkle's owners initially wanted to reclaim the female dog, but ultimately decided not to reclaim either of them. Luckily, Mr Perriwinkle's companion found rescue placement, and not only did Mr Perriwinkle's parvo tests come back negative, but he also has the antibodies present to fend off the virus, likely from a previous vaccine.  Behavior Notes APO memo, 12/7 When PPD officers and I went into the yard, he initially walked up with hackles raised and gave warning barks, then retreated to the back of the yard where I was able to corner him and get him on the control pole. He fought the pole briefly, but after realizing he was okay, walked fine on it. 12/8 Per owners, lived with female dogs, good with kids. When [Mr Perriwinkle] saw owners he immediately became super loose and wiggly, licking them through kennel bars, whining, soliciting attention. 12/14 At the front of the kennel with soft eyes, tail low and still. Took treats, opened the kennel door and he backed up two steps. Used a treat in the leash to lure into it, once leashed pulled back two steps again when feeling leash pressure, with two more treats he came forward and out of kennel. Walked behind Pudge at a distance of 15 feet approx, unfazed. Once outside when within 10 feet he would stiffen, tail high and still, mouth closed, fixated gaze on Pudge, growling. Called him aWay verbally and with some mild leash pressure. Food motivated and stood still for a picture using a treat lure.Attempted another meet, tail lower than before, still tense and growling. Did not have them meet further or walk them together more due to extremely icy and cold conditions. Behavior Eval, 12/15 : Kennel Presentation: Laying down on the bed when I approached. Got up and was sitting facing the door. He had soft eyes, ears forward and wagging tail. Leash Skills: Avoidant of the leash, had to use a treat lure to leash up. He is grabby with treats as well. Walked right out once leash was on. Pulled mildly Sociability: Fairly social. Came over and put front legs on my legs and allowed all handling with a still body, ears forward and soft eyes. He's very food motivated but put his whole mouth on my hand when I offered a treat, recommending dropping it or tossing the treat. Play: was not interested in any toys. Dog Interaction: N/a Return to Kennel: Walked right back into the kennel unleashed without issue. 12/15 He was running from side to side in his kennel when I approached, and he greeted me with a very wiggly body and wagging tail. When I put my leash in, he backed up and did this the first three times I tried to leash. I ended up holding a Treat out through the leash and then looped him that way. He took the treat very gently. On leash he doesn’t pull too much and is very in tune with his handler. In the play yard he showed me sit and very calmly waited for treats. He can be quite snatchy when he takes them so make sure to get them with an open palm. Super sweet with taking pets and gently sits there getting love from you. He was pretty low energy in the play yard. Easily went back into the kennel for unleashing! Playgroup, 12/20 Mr. Perriwinkle had good gate greetings with soft eyes and a wagging tail. He was not steerable and liked his handler more than sniffing the dog. In the yard he was unsure and did some play bows. He was tolerant of the other dogs' rowdy behavior but once the other dog was on top of him, he made an appropriate correction. He did some more play once the dog calmed down. Medical Notes Mr Perriwinkle went through our protocol for exposure to parvovirus, to ensure there was no contamination, and so he could receive more individualized attention. He tested negative for parvo on 12/7, and on 12/8, when we also confirmed that Mr Perriwinkle has the appropriate titers.  Mr Perriwinkle was tested for parvo one more time, on 12/14, and was once again, negative. He came down with a URI on 12/16, but tested negative for pneumovirus. Mr Perriwinkle will finish his URI meds on 12/29.  Video Perriwinkle knows sit: https://youtu.be/4fZcKwJZgS8 He knows sit!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUKqy5dsL0k Petting Perriwinkle: https://youtu.be/PT4vmCgn48Q Dog Meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/v8QNmSN04S8?si=eR7LAVLpAG4a0KgC Playgroup 12/20: Buddy, Mr Perriwinkle https://youtu.be/xhIIzsaquDE Playgroup 12/20: Buddy, Mr Perriwinkle 2 https://youtu.be/XDGDbsiy6GY Playgroup 12/21: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcnvoGYrJkIY3BMiDSt1bWMWVGXAzTa_V - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
