Story
In a few months, I’ll be leaving for the Air Force, and because of that, I need to find a new home for my dog. I’ve had her since I was 18, and she’s now 13 years old. She’s been with me through pretty much every major part of my life. She’s loyal, calm, and easygoing, but surprisingly energetic for her age. She still loves long walks, being outside, and staying close to her people. At 13, she still has a lot of life and personality in her. This isn’t an easy decision for me at all, but I want to do what’s best for her. She deserves a stable home where she can enjoy her senior years comfortably. I’m looking for someone patient and caring who will treat her like family.

Story
This is Buddy’s story (in his words) I was born into a backyard where fighting was normal. They call it backyard breeding, but that doesn’t explain the blood, the screaming, or the nights when dogs didn’t make it back inside. The fights happened when it was dark. Sometimes you fought harder and lived. Sometimes you didn’t. The ones who didn’t were dragged away like they never existed. I chose to fight. That’s why my legs are scarred. That’s why my ears look the way they do. That’s why my body tells my story before I ever get a chance to. I’m not just marked on the outside. I carry it inside too. People hesitate when they see me. I know why. My breed. My scars. The way I look like I’ve lived too hard for too long. I’ve never had a real home. I think those only happen in dreams or movies. But I don’t hate people. I love them. I wag my tail. I lean in for pets. I get excited when someone says my name. Maybe I shouldn’t trust humans, but I do anyway. Someone once promised me a new life. They said rescue would be different. That I’d be safe. They were half right. I don’t fight anymore. I have a bed. I get food on time. I’m warm. I live in boarding. I will probably die in boarding. But here’s the thing. Life is better than it was. The people here love me. They tell me I’m a good dog. They send me toys. They dress me in costumes. They call me the mascot. I get snacks and sunbathing and hugs that last longer than a second. I grew a lump on my leg. They said it was a lipoma. It didn’t bother me… until it did. Until it burst. Until the bleeding wouldn’t stop. I was scared when they took me to the hospital. Hospitals haven’t always been kind places for dogs like me. But this time was different. Someone showed up for me. They didn’t walk away. They didn’t say I wasn’t worth it. They didn’t count my scars and decide no. They said yes.

Story
💔 Five Years Is Far Too Long 💔 Meet Pippi. Pippi is an 8-year-old, 47-pound sweetheart who has spent an unbelievable amount of her life waiting for someone to choose her. She has been in boarding since February 7, 2021. That's more than five years of watching other dogs leave while she stays behind. Despite everything, Pippi hasn't given up. She is a graduate of our Canine Good Citizen program and is one of the most well-trained dogs in our rescue. She knows sit, place, leave it, shake, and drop it. She loves her people, loves her toys, and absolutely lights up when a ball comes out. Pippi is fully house-trained and would thrive in a home where she can finally be part of a family. She adores her people and does well with male dogs, but she needs a home without female dogs or cats. Like many dogs who have spent years in a kennel environment, Pippi can get excited when she sees squirrels, cats, or bikes on walks. She has worked extensively with trainers and continues to make progress. What she really needs now is a chance to practice all those skills in a home of her own. Think about it. Since 2021, Pippi has watched seasons change, holidays come and go, puppies grow up, and hundreds of other dogs find families. Through it all, she has waited. And waited. And waited. We know her person is out there. ✔️ Canine Good Citizen Graduate ✔️ House-Trained ✔️ Loves People ✔️ Does Well With Male Dogs ✔️ Loves Toys and Fetch ✔️ Ready for a Real Home ❌ No Female Dogs ❌ No Cats Pippi has done everything we've asked of her. She has learned, grown, trained, and waited patiently. Now it's our turn to help her find what she's been missing for far too long: a family. If you can't adopt, please consider fostering. Even a temporary home would mean more to Pippi than you can imagine. 📧 adopt@dallasdogrrr.org Let's make sure Pippi doesn't spend another year waiting. ❤️
