Meet Buster – The Underdog Who Just Needs His Person
Pit Bull Mix | Neutered Male | Medium-Large | Healthy & Fully Vetted
Buster’s story is one of resilience. Once on a shelter euthanasia list due to severe skin issues and stress-driven behavior, he was rescued and enrolled in nearly a year of professional board and train. With patience and structure, he’s become a healthier, happier, and more balanced dog — and now he’s ready for a home that truly understands him.
The Buster You’ll Come to Know (If You Earn His Trust):
Once Buster lets you in, he’s not just a survivor — he’s a total goofball.
• He LOVES to fetch and will happily chase a ball
• His absolute favorite thing in the world? Sprinklers and hoses! ?
• Loves to roll on his back and melt into belly rubs and booty scratches
• Will do a silly trust fall into your arms once he knows you’re safe
• He’s happy, playful, and so full of life — but only when he feels secure
Behavior & Training:
Buster is trained, but still needs a very structured and experienced home.
+ Crate-trained
+ House-trained
+ Knows basic commands, including sit and shake before meals
+ Food motivated and thrives on routine
+ Must be fed separately — he has resource guarding with food and should eat away from other pets and people
+ Extremely gentle when taking treats
Boundaries & Needs:
• Slow to trust — especially with strangers and men
• Bite history (from being crowded at an adoption event and officer not following the warning)
• Cannot live in a high-traffic home
• No young kids
• May do well with calm, respectful dogs
• Shows gentle interest in cats, but needs a slow, controlled intro and ongoing monitoring
• Needs an adopter who will respect his space and never force interaction
His Ideal Home:
• Adult-only, low-visitor household
• Calm, structured, and free of chaos
• Experience with behaviorally complex dogs required
• Fenced yard ideal for hose play and decompression
• Possibly a home with a calm, neutral dog, but must feed separately (slow introductions)
• A human who understands that dogs like Buster don’t need to be perfect — they need to be safe
Buster’s Journey So Far:
• Rescued off the euth list after shelter stress took a toll
• Healed from skin infections and gained healthy weight
• Trained for nearly a year in a structured program
• Learned trust, boundaries, and how to be part of a routine
• Still growing, still learning — still worthy of love
In His Words (If He Could Speak):
“Please don’t rush me. I’ve been through a lot, and I need to know I’m safe before I let go. But once I trust you — I’ll make you laugh, bring you the hose, and roll over for all the belly rubs you’ll give me. I don’t want the world — I just want one person who gets me.”
*Serious, experienced adopters only. Buster is a dog who’s been failed before. He deserves someone who won’t fail him again.
