AnnaBelle is an 8yo 12lb Shih Tzu. She’s dog and kid 12+ friendly. She’s housebroken and pee pad trained. She’s good in a secure fenced in yard along with going for harness leashed walks. She’s a sweet girl who likes being around her people and going for car rides. She wiggles on her back when happy/excited and will only give kisses once she's bonded with you. AnnaBelle MUST have a home with a secure fenced in yard, be walked a few times a day, no kids under 12yo, along with patience to allow her to warm up. If your home DOES NOT fit this please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone not a fit. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. AnnaBelle has dry eye and will need to use special eye drops for the rest of her life. Rocco is 10-12 years old and weighs 12 pounds. He's an equal opportunity lover of dogs, respectful kids and any human who will be his friend. He's an outdoor enthusiast who needs a fenced yard to safely enjoy his adventures. His favorite pastime? Being by your side! Since his beloved owner went into hospice care, Rocco thrives best with someone who’s home often. Rocco has some vision and hearing loss and may need a hand with stairs, but his spirit is unstoppable! Sometimes he barks for no reason but a little distraction does the trick. While we believe he’s housetrained, we use a "male wrap" (belly band) just in case. He’s not on any medication and his recent bloodwork and vet notes show he's doing fine for a senior! We are looking for a "Forever Foster" for Rocco. We'll supply everything Rocco needs for life – all you need to do is provide a loving home, just like you would your own pet. We’re looking for a family within a reasonable distance from Barnegat, NJ, so he can visit our vet in town. Story

Nolan is such a sweetheart of a dog! He is around 7-ish years old and he was found as a stray. His owner was located, but they never came for Nolan. It may be all for the best though, since he was so overgrown that he resembled more of a dust-mop than a dog. Poor Nolan! He got himself all cleaned up and he's feeling great! AND, we'd like to add, that he's a prince of a pup for a spa day too! Nolan is a sweet guy but he really does love peacefulness. He doesn't like to be startled as he may not hear all that well, and he tends to go in circles from time to time when he's a little stressed. He just loves to be petted and loved, and he really doesn't ask for much. He's perfect on a leash while out for a leisurely stroll and he sits and takes treats gently too. He can be a fussy eater, but he's put on some much-needed weight since his arrival. Nolan would do best in a more commotion-free home and he's just fine with other mild-mannered dogs too. Story

Fluffy is the most precious little ol' grandpa around! He's a 13 year old shihtzu that was turned in due to his owner becoming ill and unable to care for him any longer. The family tried to keep little Fluff, but they wanted a better life for him, and so do we! Fluffy may be older, but he doesn't let age-related issues slow him down! He's a little hearing-impaired, his eyes are somewhat cloudy, and his joints pop out and ache a little too, but Fluffy keeps up like a champ while out for a walk and he's happy to woof away for a treat! He's a perfect little gentleman that is so friendly and mild-mannered, and he loves everyone he meets. Fluffy grew up with dogs, cats, and kids too and is fine with everyone. He's puppy pad-trained and he really doesn't ask for much. Unfortunately, he's currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection, so he would love to continue with his meds in a home. He's available for foster or adoption. If you have other dogs, they will need to be up to date on the bordatella vaccine. Please give Fluffy the comfy home of his dreams! Story

Tori is being fostered in Florida. Tori is a very laid back 10# girl who is quiet and rarely barks. She loves to be outside with her nose facing the breeze and catching the scents in the air. She lives as an only dog - but is very tolerant of the other dogs in our building. The cat in the family is not fond of Tori but Tori does not mind the cat. Tori has a favorite green blanket where she naps and sleeps at night (and is a loud snorer!). She likes frequent walks on leash and is house trained. She enjoys being on your lap or next to you while you are watching tv. Little is known about Tori’s past except that she was taken from her elderly owner who could no longer care for her. Pictures here show her ungroomed condition when she entered the shelter and after being groomed. Tori’s right eye had been removed at some time in the past and she has no vision in her left eye. Pressure in that eye is normal and her medical vet noted a dilated pupil and asteroid hyalosis. She has an appointment to see an opthamologist next month. She often scratches the right side of her face but no reason has been found for this. Tori does not drink from her water bowl but does drink water added to her kibble and gets four small meals a day. On arrival at her foster home in Florida, Tori was treated for worms including tapeworms. This probably contributed to her anemia and she is on lixotinic for that. She had a 4DX test and it was all negative including heartworms. A dental cleaning has been done and four teeth were removed. A benign lesion was removed from her left thigh at that time also. Tori gets very anxious with car rides, but her vet has ordered Trazodone to help her with this. Due to her size a home without young children is recommended. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
