Story
Nia, a 5 year old Shih Tzu, is an amazing and loving dog! She’s extremely quiet and does not bark. She loves lay around and cuddle. She also loves her alone time too! I am looking for a new home because I am the caretaker for my mother with severe dementia and I am unable to devote the necessary time to Nia.

Story
We are rehoming our Shih Tzu Maltese (Malshi) puppy. She has received her first round of shots and comes with paperwork, training pads, and a toy. Rehoming fee: $900. Reasonable offers will be considered, but please do not inquire if your budget is below $750. She is very social, affectionate, and loves to be held. She enjoys being around people and thrives on attention, so we are looking for a home that can provide her with the time, care, and companionship she deserves. She is doing well and listens well for her age but will still need continued training and consistency as she grows. A lot of time, effort, and care has gone into raising her. We have done our best to give her a loving, spacious environment and want to ensure she goes to a responsible and caring home. Additional photos and videos are available upon request.

Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Lenox aka Bubba is a 7yo 18lb Shih Tzu. He’s small dog, cat and kids 8+ friendly. He’s house and crate trained. He’s good in a secure fenced in yard along with going for harness leashed walks, but gets excited when he sees other dog so needs work on training if taking walks. He needs to have time to warm up and not have people right in his personal space. He needs to be allowed to come to you then can be a cuddly lap dog who also likes to play with squeaky toys. He loves having a person to himself and getting tons of belly rubs. Lenox foster requires a home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, people respectful of his personal space when he wants it, no kids under 8yo around him since he doesn’t like his personal space invaded, a person to himself, along with leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Lenox as all dogs should have at least 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Lenox is neutered, vaccinated, hw negative and microchipped. Currently in Rutledge, PA. If your home meets the needed requirements and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Story
Diamond’s a 3yo 13lb Shih Tzu. He’s dog and kid friendly. He’s house, pee pad and crate trained. He loves running around his fosters secure fenced in yard with another dog and likes going for a harness leashed walk at least once a day. He loves playing with toys with another dog, being with his people to get tons of belly rubs and give kisses. He’s smart, gentle, playful, and enjoys car rides. He can be a barker, chew on things so will need chew toys over other dog items to keep him busy. He also can be a digger so needs to be watched when in the yard. He could use some work on training some of these things, which being food and treat motivated could help with this. Diamond’s foster requires a home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, a secure fenced in yard, another playful dog a harnessed leashed walk at least once a day, plenty of chew toys along with giving leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements.
