MEET PEPPER! This sweet, low-key girl is named Pepper! Pepper joined City of Elderly Love after being surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter along with 8 other small dogs. Their owner was no longer equipped to care for so many dogs but fortunately, all of them found placement with rescues; two of which joined ours! Pepper is somewhere around 12 years old and appears to be a Shih Tzu mix; around 14 lbs. Despite not wanting to play much, Pepper is an A+ snuggler and loves attention. She'll happily nap in your lap if you let her. She is blind but once she knows you're there, she'll ask for pets and give you tiny kisses whenever possible. Pepper loves to go for (slow) walks, is a great eater, loves to explore her foster family's backyard, and to lay in the sun. She'll even do a little dance when she's able to go outside during nice weather! So while she's a low-key gal, she has her own sweet and quirky personality once she's comfortable in her surroundings. She's currently living with other dogs and cats and gets along with them well! Pepper is blind due to age-related cataracts and lifelong chronic dry eye (KCS) so receives daily over the counter lubricating eye drops. She also doesn't hear well (or at all) but has no problem letting you know what she'd like. Pepper is housebroken and great about letting you know that she needs to go out. Because little dogs have little bladders, she does need to go out every few hours. She's great about using pee pads in her crate or pen while you're at work or if you need to be away from the house for a while. Pepper prefers to sleep in the same room as her people so she knows they're nearby. She has been diagnosed with mild chronic kidney disease, not uncommon for aging dogs which doesn't require further treatment at this time but should be . Overall, this sweet, easy going girl would be great for any family looking to spoil a special little senior dog in her sunset years. She'll happily repay you with cheek kisses! Pepper is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting her? Story
Sully is being fostered in PA. Due to his age, he will not be placed in a home with young children, however he is great with people. This little man is Sully and he will need a very special adopter. Sully is at least 15 years old and has some health issues but is so go-with-the-flow and is trusting and finds comfort in any gentle person that it was decided he deserved to have the chance at finding his perfect home for whatever time he has left so he can have 1:1 cuddles for the rest of his time. Sully is gentle, quiet, loves to sleep and enjoys meal time and cuddles. He needs to be carried outside to go potty because he just doesn't look for the door, and is fairly predictable with his schedule and gives his foster mom plenty of signs to get him outside after standing up from a nap. He also wears a belly band very well, if needed. Sully has kidney disease and, therefore, cannot be put under anesthesia to have a dental or his eyes removed but, fortunately, although his teeth are not the best, they are not the worst the vet has seen by any means. If Sully didn't have kidney issues he could have his eyes removed but his issues are managed well with long-term antibiotic drops 2-3 times per day. He is currently on the eye drops and a very inexpensive medicine to help take the stress of his kidneys. The best family for Sully will consist of someone who is home a lot to give him tons of attention and who can carry him outside to potty (he weighs about 15 pounds and is very good when being carried). They will also be comfortable giving him his eye drops that he takes very well and will understand that he will need more vet checks than a younger dog. Sully is very excited to find a forever home and he hopes your home is the one for him! Transport is available to his new home but a home that can be reached from central PA in one day would be best for this senior boy. Please ask if you are unsure about the distance. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Kimora’s a 10yo 10lb Shih Tzu mix. She’s dog and kid friendly. She’s housebroken when kept on a schedule and her people are alert to her signs. She is left in an Xpen with pee pads when foster goes out since she is blind. She is used to a fenced in yard which makes it easier since she is blind. She likes cuddling next to her people on the sofa and loves getting pets especially enjoys getting her head and ears rubbed. She will follow her person around the house then other times she will go off on her own, climb up soft steps onto the sofa, curl up and sleep. She will bark if she wants to get down. Kimora MUST have people who understand caring for a blind dog. If your home DOES NOT fit this please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone not a fit. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Kimora is almost completely blind. She does see some light and reacts if you put your hand towards her face. She’s spayed, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped. Currently fostered in Feasterville, PA. If your home fits the bio and MUST haves and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Meet Cora, the delightful 7-year-old Shih Tzu on the hunt for her forever home—and she comes with a condition: she requires a furry companion! Cora is a social butterfly who thrives in the company of other dogs, making her the perfect addition to a multi-pup household. With her friendly demeanor, she's already formed a strong bond with her foster parent, and she's eager to extend that love to her new family. While she's still mastering leash manners and potty training, Cora's enthusiasm for learning knows no bounds, and she'll flourish with a patient owner by her side. A fenced yard would be a bonus for her spirited adventures. If you're ready to welcome Cora and her furry friend into your home, submit your application today! Story
Meet Darla! This stunning little girl is Darla and she is a shih tzu, who is approximately 6 years old . A former breeding momma, Darla will need her new family to understand she is still learning all this new world has to offer.  In foster care Darla has met dogs of all shapes and sizes with ease . She is learning to walk on a leash and is completely house trained with pee pads and potty time outside . For her safety a fenced in yard will be required for her to explore and play safely with any family with children.  She will also need another dog her size to show her the ropes and to bond with as she really does like having a fur friend to cuddle with during the day and at night. She is up to date on vaccines, chipped, and is spayed. Please apply today if you believe Darla would make your family complete. https://peytonsplaceanimalrescue.org/adoption-application/ ##2036112##

Story
Aren’t you over all that nonsense of puppyhood? Good, ‘cause so is Leo. Ready for a lil’ companion to spend your days with? Yup, so is Leo. Got errands to run? No problem, Leo is fab is in the car and he wouldn’t mind if you hit a drive-throu for some nuggies. Leo is nothing short of old man perfection. He is a Shih Tzu and Bichon mix (but looks mostly Shih Tzu) and was born in early 2012. Sure, he’s got those geriatric lumps and bumps, but he’s the perfect Netflix-n-chill man. We would prefer him to go to a home where he would be the only animal so he could be spoiled rotten like the king he deserves to be. He doesn’t have much experience with younger children but could probably live with teenagers. Apply today to make Leo your new napping buddy. https://www.hart2heartanimalrescue.com/forms/form?formid=6527 .
