Hi! My name is Maggie and I am looking for a forever home. Whoever said small dogs don't end up in the shelter, well I'm proof they do as I was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to one, and let me tell you they are pretty scary places. Unfortunately, when no one came to claim me and my stray hold was up, I was getting passed over as I surely didn't look (or smell) my best as my coat was all matted from being on my own for so long. Fortunately, BCAA heard about me and said they would help me ... yeah! The vet thinks I'm only about 18mos old and weigh just a tad under 13lbs. The first thing I got upon arriving at my foster's was a groom where I had to be mostly all shaved down, but boy do I feel and look so much better! With that out of the way, my personality has really come out and my foster parents says I'm just a super happy little girl. I have gotten along with the other small dogs I have met although I really prefer the most to be with you. I have done really well in my crate without any accidents and which I have shared with my friend Molly without any issues and we love to wrestle and play; we also eat side by side with no problem as we both love our food so finish about the same time. I was a little hesitant at first about that thing called a leash but with a little practice I'm getting much better as it means I get to be with you. This little man came in to the shelter as an owner surrender due to a change in the living situation. He was a bit of a spicy guy when he first came in but has adjusted well to shelter life. He takes a little while to warm up to new people but once you`re his friend you`re in! It`s unknown how he will be with other animals, the former owner has never introduced him to any. He is crate trained and housebroken, walks well on leash. He is not a fan of grooming so you would need to find a good groomer willing to work with Kingston.Sir Kingston has been adopted out once but returned when it was discovered he does not like men. No matter how hard the adopters tried it just wasn`t going to work out. If you know this breed you know how stubborn they can be. Kingston needs a single woman with a quiet life to share with him. He walks good on leash and loves to strut around. He is housebroken and crate trained. If you had seen Buttacup when he came in to the shelter you wouldn`t recognize him. Upon arrival Butta had to be medically shaved down because he was incased in dirty matted hair. He did have a little run in with the officer who captured him and had to go on to a bite quarantine, but that bite was absolutely attributed to fear and horrible pain from his matted coat. His quarantine is over and this happy go lucky man is ready to live his best life! We cannot adopt him to a home with kids because he does have a bite history now, but he is sweet. He seems open to meeting like size dogs unsure about bigger dogs, but we can try a meet and greet if you already have a dog, Cats are unknown. Obviously, his coat will need maintenance so his future home should be prepared for that. He loves treats, seems housebroken and walks nicely on leash. Kiwi was born 5/30/25. She is sweet and sassy, a perfect little girl! She is friendly and social with everyone. She likes playing with her toys. She is great with older children. Diamond’s a 3yo 13lb Shih Tzu. He’s dog and kid friendly. He’s house, pee pad and crate trained. He loves running around his fosters secure fenced in yard with another dog and likes going for a harness leashed walk at least once a day. He loves playing with toys with another dog, being with his people to get tons of belly rubs and give kisses. He’s smart, gentle, playful, and enjoys car rides. He can be a barker, chew on things so will need chew toys over other dog items to keep him busy. He also can be a digger so needs to be watched when in the yard. He could use some work on training some of these things, which being food and treat motivated could help with this. Diamond’s foster requires a home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, a secure fenced in yard, another playful dog a harnessed leashed walk at least once a day, plenty of chew toys along with giving leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Diamond as all dogs should have at least 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Diamond’s neutered, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped.
