My brother Gerald and I grew up together after arriving at Animal Ark as tiny kittens. We were adopted in January 2024, and for a while, we truly believed we had found our forever home. But life changed for our family, and suddenly there wasn’t enough time for us anymore. Losing our home has been confusing and sad, but through it all, Phoebe and I have leaned on each other the way we always have. We’re safe, we’re together, and we’re hoping—really hoping—that someone out there is ready to love a pair of young cats who already love each other deeply. My previous family described me as friendly, affectionate, and sweet-natured. I was cautious and reserved with the children in our home. We don’t have experience with dogs or other cats, so any new introductions should be slow and patient. But with kindness and time, we’ll settle in and show you who we really are. After losing his beloved person, he's taking things one day at a time and learning to trust again. He may be shy at first, but with patience, soft scratches, and a good brushing, his affectionate personality begins to shine. Sam is looking for a calm home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished once more.   From Sam: My world suddenly changed when my person passed away. Since then, this nice lady has given me a safe place where I can grieve, decompress, and learn to trust new people again.  I've met the other cats that live here. They seem okay. Well... except for the orange one. He gets a little cranky with the lady sometimes. There is also a really big cat here. At least I think it's a cat. It smells me a lot, but I don't mind it.  I enjoy having cozy places to curl up and sleep. The lady has given me lots of options, but my favorite spot is in the cat tower where I can keep an eye on everything while staying comfortable.  There are plenty of toys around, although I haven't felt much like playing yet. Maybe someday.  I prefer scratches over pets. My favorite spot is right above my tail. If you bring out a brush, you've pretty much won me over. I could spend hours stretched out getting brushed. T he lady tried putting me on her lap once. I quickly informed her that wasn't part of my current life plan. I hopped right down, but I stayed nearby so she could keep brushing me.  I think I would do best in a quieter home. Sudden movements and lots of activity can still startle me. I'm looking for someone who will let me adjust at my own pace and understand that trust takes time.  The lady says I have my days and nights mixed up. I'm not sure what she means. I simply prefer working the night shift. While she and the really big cat sleep, I patrol my room and make sure everything stays exactly where it belongs.   If you're patient, gentle, and willing to let me be myself, I think we might become very good friends. Svetlana is playful, loving, and completely adorable. She’s a true snugglebug who loves curling up with her person, happily making biscuits while soaking up affection. When she’s not cuddling, she’s busy entertaining herself with life’s simple joys—folded socks, strings, and boxes are her favorite toys. She has a hilarious “hunter” streak and proudly stalks dish towels from the kitchen, delivering her prizes straight to her chosen human like a gift of love. Svetlana is very curious about the outdoors and would love to explore, but she’s kept safely inside since she lives on a busy street and her people love her far too much to take any chances. Svetlana does have a skin condition that she takes medication for, and she handles it like a champ. With her care routine, she’s comfortable and happy. Sweet, silly, and full of personality, Svetlana has a way of stealing hearts the moment you meet her.
