She is a calm and contented girl who enjoys the simple pleasures in life, like basking in the sun in her bed. Although she takes her time warming up, she has never been aggressive or hissed. Once she trusts you, she will ask for pets on her terms and climb into your lap, where she will stay as long as you keep petting her. She is starting to show interest in toys and loves playing with wand-type toys and fishing poles. Murietta came from a hoarder’s house. The house was so crowded with stuff and other cats that Murietta was forced to find a place to call her own - the rafters. It’s been years since Murietta was rescued from that hoarder’s house but the horrors she lived through are fresh in her head. Years later, she still prefers the rafters. She likes to be up high. Her tower is her security. Murietta doesn’t live completely in her castle in the clouds. When she does venture down to earth, she loves to curl up with her friend Scrappy. Scrappy is very similar in purrsonality to Murietta. He hasn’t been convinced that he needs to interact with humans. Both Murietta and Scrappy are sweet cats. There’s not a bad bone in their bodies. They just prefer cats to humans. Their adopter needs to appreciate their preferences. Murietta is very bonded to her friend Scrappy. She must be adopted with him. Snowball came to us as a surrender when his owner moved and he couldn't go along. Born October 2024, Snowball is a sweet affectionate boy who gets along with other cats but also would be ok if he was the only animal in the house. Snowball would dearly love the opportunity to go Home for the Holidays. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes.
