You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Smokey was an owner surrender due to a move.  He was born in October, 2025.  This guy is a vocal boy who likes to tell it like it is!  He is also a very friendly cat.  We will adopt him as an indoor only cat--that is all he has ever known.  He has been around other cats, dogs and kids!  Adoption fee is $100 with an approved application which is available at mchs.rescuegroups.org.  Smokey has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV; he is now neutered and current on shots/dewormings.  You must be 21 to adopt from MCHS and a pet carrier is required at the time of adoption.  We will make an appointment to meet Smokey after we receive and approve an adoption application.  Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN.  We are located off of I-90 via exit 180B to 218 SOUTH.  We are just past our local airport.  THANKS.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 23, 2026, 8:43 pm

Oliver or Olli is a great cat calm cuddler loves being held or just laying around with you. He is great with kids. Not good with large dogs

Originally got him as a gift for my little brother and he ended up proving a little too irresponsible. I’ve had him for about 6 months now and the only issue is that Jabari is a very social and playful guy. I work a lot and am not in a situation where I can even consider getting another cat. He needs a buddy or at the very least someone with the time to keep him entertained.

Meet Mello! Mello is a very talkative, loving boy with a personality as big as his voice! He may take a day or so to warm up, but once he does, he’s all in — following you from room to room as your loyal little shadow. He absolutely adores his people and thrives on companionship. This silly guy believes everything is a toy. If it wasn’t made for cats, that just makes it more interesting! His playful curiosity keeps life entertaining, and he’s always ready to turn everyday objects into his next adventure. Mello is extremely snuggly and has a special talent for slowly crawling up to settle right on your chest… or even your face if you’ll let him! That said, he does appreciate having his own space sometimes and enjoys lounging by the window, happily watching the world go by. He’s been very friendly with babies and has done well around little ones. However, loud or sudden noises can startle him — especially when tiny humans turn into tiny “raptors,” as they sometimes do! Because of this, a calmer home environment would suit him best. Mello would truly thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. He gets lonely and isn’t shy about expressing it — he is a very mouthy boy and will happily chat with you about his feelings. Anyone considering Mello should appreciate a vocal cat who loves to communicate. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate, entertaining companion who will keep you company and keep you laughing, Mello might just be your perfect match!
