Hi, I’m Hobbes and I want to share my story. I was in a home before I was surrendered to Texas CARES. It was my one and only home and I was the star of the house, that is, until my family had a baby. After that, it seems I was set aside. The wonderful people at Texas CARES took me into their rescue but that is not where my story ends. You see, I am a very special boy and have had some pretty big ups and downs. In my foster home, I was having such a time using my litter box and no one could seem to figure out why I was going outside of it. They took me to the vet, where they ran tests and more tests. That wasn’t fun, because I am not a huge fan of going into the carrier (I told foster mom all about it on the ride) but I knew it was for my own good. My foster mom, along with the medical team, tried several different things. My food was changed, my foster mom used extra litter boxes, but I still would go outside the box. There was even a time where I heard talk of euthanasia. I’m not sure what that is but it sure didn’t sound good! I know my foster mom was so frustrated and really wanted to help me, but it was tough. Finally, foster mom and the medical team, along with the vets, started me on some different antibiotics and some medicine to help with my mental state. This seemed to be what was needed for me because I now use the litter box each and every time I need to go! So, you see, it took a little time, but I am finally ready to seek out a forever home. I will have to be on my special food, which helps prevent crystals in my urine, and I may have to be on my mental meds long term, but I take them like a champ. In fact, I don’t even think it’s medicine because it looks and tastes like a chicken treat. I enjoy my prescription food as well! I do get along with dogs and I have met my foster mom's cats but honestly, I’d probably prefer just to have my very own human to myself. I won’t be going up to the adoption center, so if you’d like to meet me and have a chat, my foster family will make arrangements for you to meet me! Nestor and Tilly are a bonded duo with a snowshoe background, though not pure-bred. They are easy keepers, being well past the kitten stage, and great companions. Meet Crystal! Crystal is a one of a kind beauty born in late 2024. She came to us when one of our fosters went to an apartment complex to rescue a mama cat and her kittens. Crystal came out of nowhere and started following our foster around. She was extremely friendly and wanted to be rescued too. We got her in a crate and in the vehicle minutes before a torrential thunderstorm hit. She was very hungry and scared but warmed up quickly once she knew she was safe. Crystal loves lapses and to be petted. Her tail will get poofy when she receives loving pets and head scritches. Her beautiful fur coat is 1/4 tortoiseshell and 3/4 siamese giving her an exotic look. She loves cats of all ages but is unsure about dogs. She has perfect litter box manners. You must submit an application to be considered for adoption. Meet Ruthie Siamese sweetie born 2011. Ruthie and her sister Sally’s mom died and dad had to move to an assisted living facility. These girls were loved and cared for but now are in need of forever homes to live out their golden years. Ruthie enjoys snuggling in boxes and taking long naps. She just wants to be near you and get head scratches. Ruthie is a picky eater. The only thing that is on her menu of choice is TUNA flavored wet food. She loves climbing and jumping and is great at opening cabinets and taking a nap inside. She loves some chicken and lamb snacks. When you take pictures she wants to be front and center of the camera. She is very calm and will even let you trim her nails with zero complaints. She is just looking for her Furrever snuggle Buddy!! Ruthie would prefer to be an only pet or with her sister Sally (also a total sweetheart). She prefers a quiet, calm home. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and litter box trained. Meet Clover! DOB: September 2025. Don’t let these blue eyes fool you. Clover is a petite little ball of fire!  She’s very active and loves to play with her toys! She also loves to run and jump and climb all over the house! Her future owner will need patience and time to teach her “house manners” but she’s just a typical feisty little kitten. On the flip side, she can be the sweetest little cuddle bug when she’s ready to take a nap. She has excellent litter manners, is vetted, loves her food, and is very attentive to her foster family.You must submit an application to be considered for adoption.
