Hi, I’m Hobbes and I want to share my story. I was in a home before I was surrendered to Texas CARES. It was my one and only home and I was the star of the house, that is, until my family had a baby. After that, it seems I was set aside. The wonderful people at Texas CARES took me into their rescue but that is not where my story ends. You see, I am a very special boy and have had some pretty big ups and downs. In my foster home, I was having such a time using my litter box and no one could seem to figure out why I was going outside of it. They took me to the vet, where they ran tests and more tests. That wasn’t fun, because I am not a huge fan of going into the carrier (I told foster mom all about it on the ride) but I knew it was for my own good. My foster mom, along with the medical team, tried several different things. My food was changed, my foster mom used extra litter boxes, but I still would go outside the box. There was even a time where I heard talk of euthanasia. I’m not sure what that is but it sure didn’t sound good! I know my foster mom was so frustrated and really wanted to help me, but it was tough. Finally, foster mom and the medical team, along with the vets, started me on some different antibiotics and some medicine to help with my mental state. This seemed to be what was needed for me because I now use the litter box each and every time I need to go! So, you see, it took a little time, but I am finally ready to seek out a forever home. I will have to be on my special food, which helps prevent crystals in my urine, and I may have to be on my mental meds long term, but I take them like a champ. In fact, I don’t even think it’s medicine because it looks and tastes like a chicken treat. I enjoy my prescription food as well! I do get along with dogs and I have met my foster mom's cats but honestly, I’d probably prefer just to have my very own human to myself. I won’t be going up to the adoption center, so if you’d like to meet me and have a chat, my foster family will make arrangements for you to meet me! I really hope you will take a chance on me because I am a really wonderful boy and I am ready to be your best friend! Medical: Special Diet - He is now on CD Urinary food both dry and wet. Fluoxetine - Compounded Treat Chews - ordered monthly and delivered to his home.

Hi, I’m Holly! I’m a 1-year-old Snowshoe mix with a sweet, affectionate personality and plenty of curiosity. I love exploring my surroundings, spending time with my people, and I’m good with dogs, cats, and kids. I can also do well as an indoor/outdoor kitty. I’m friendly, loving, and always interested in what’s going on around me. If you’re looking for a beautiful young companion who can fit right into the family, I’d love to meet you!

Toast is a very sweet and sensitive 10yo. He doesn't love much hustle and bustle, and his ideal home would be laid back and lowkey. Once he is comfortable in his space, he is super affectionate with people and almost puppy-like in his behavior! He will trot up to almost anyone to greet them, rub up against their legs, and even settle in their lap. He can sometimes show his affection through something we have branded "love bites" - they are ultimately gentle, and you can usually see them coming and tell him no. Toast is considered a senior cat, but it doesn't show at all in his health or behavior. He is lively, outgoing, and even plays with kittens. Toast also does well with low energy dogs. In terms of challenges, Toast struggles to handle stress and will need a lot of patience when acclimating to a new environment and people. When dealing with a lot of change, he can sometimes lose his appetite or have an accident outside the litterbox - but he does tackle these with a bit of time.

Meet Cotton! 💙🐾 If you're looking for a happy, sweet, slightly quirky guy who is ready to love and easy to love, Cotton may be your perfect match! This handsome Snowshoe boy has striking blue eyes, an adorable cross-eyed gaze, and a story of resilience. Cotton was found injured outdoors with severe damage to his tail that ultimately required a partial tail amputation. Thankfully, he's healed beautifully and is doing great! These days, Cotton is all about enjoying the good life. He absolutely LOVES other cats — especially kittens! He happily gets along with friendly cats of all ages and would love having feline friends in his forever home. He also loves his toys and is always ready for some fun. Cotton is a sweet, affectionate, quirky guy who has really come into his own. He's still a little unique in the way he communicates, but that's part of what makes Cotton, Cotton! He's full of personality and has so much love to give. He would do well with older children who understand how to respect a cat's boundaries and give him space when he needs it. Cotton has been through a lot, but you'd never know it from his happy-go-lucky personality.
