Hi, I’m Hobbes and I want to share my story. I was in a home before I was surrendered to Texas CARES. It was my one and only home and I was the star of the house, that is, until my family had a baby. After that, it seems I was set aside. The wonderful people at Texas CARES took me into their rescue but that is not where my story ends. You see, I am a very special boy and have had some pretty big ups and downs. In my foster home, I was having such a time using my litter box and no one could seem to figure out why I was going outside of it. They took me to the vet, where they ran tests and more tests. That wasn’t fun, because I am not a huge fan of going into the carrier (I told foster mom all about it on the ride) but I knew it was for my own good. My foster mom, along with the medical team, tried several different things. My food was changed, my foster mom used extra litter boxes, but I still would go outside the box. There was even a time where I heard talk of euthanasia. I’m not sure what that is but it sure didn’t sound good! I know my foster mom was so frustrated and really wanted to help me, but it was tough. Finally, foster mom and the medical team, along with the vets, started me on some different antibiotics and some medicine to help with my mental state. This seemed to be what was needed for me because I now use the litter box each and every time I need to go! So, you see, it took a little time, but I am finally ready to seek out a forever home. I will have to be on my special food, which helps prevent crystals in my urine, and I may have to be on my mental meds long term, but I take them like a champ. In fact, I don’t even think it’s medicine because it looks and tastes like a chicken treat. I enjoy my prescription food as well! I do get along with dogs and I have met my foster mom's cats but honestly, I’d probably prefer just to have my very own human to myself. I won’t be going up to the adoption center, so if you’d like to meet me and have a chat, my foster family will make arrangements for you to meet me! I really hope you will take a chance on me because I am a really wonderful boy and I am ready to be your best friend! Medical: Special Diet - He is now on CD Urinary food both dry and wet. Fluoxetine - Compounded Treat Chews - ordered monthly and delivered to his home.

Toast is a very sweet and sensitive 10yo. He doesn't love much hustle and bustle, and his ideal home would be laid back and lowkey. Once he is comfortable in his space, he is super affectionate with people and almost puppy-like in his behavior! He will trot up to almost anyone to greet them, rub up against their legs, and even settle in their lap. He can sometimes show his affection through something we have branded "love bites" - they are ultimately gentle, and you can usually see them coming and tell him no. Toast is considered a senior cat, but it doesn't show at all in his health or behavior. He is lively, outgoing, and even plays with kittens. Toast also does well with low energy dogs. In terms of challenges, Toast struggles to handle stress and will need a lot of patience when acclimating to a new environment and people. When dealing with a lot of change, he can sometimes lose his appetite or have an accident outside the litterbox - but he does tackle these with a bit of time.

Meet Cotton! 💙🐾 If you're looking for a cat with movie-star looks and a delightfully quirky personality, Cotton may be your perfect match. This handsome Snowshoe boy has striking blue eyes, an adorable cross-eyed gaze, and a story of resilience. Cotton was found injured outdoors with severe damage to his tail that ultimately required a partial tail amputation. Thankfully, he's healed beautifully and is doing great! Cotton is a very nice cat, but he's still figuring out this whole indoor-cat thing. After spending much of his life outdoors, his social skills can be a little... awkward. He loves attention and wants to interact with his people, but sometimes gets so excited that he may give a gentle nip to ask for more pets or engagement. It's never aggressive or mean-spirited—Cotton is just a little socially awkward and still learning better ways to communicate. Because of this, Cotton is looking for an experienced, patient adopter who understands that building trust and confidence takes time. The more comfortable he becomes, the more his sweet personality shines through. Cotton does well with polite, respectful cats who don't invade his space. Older children who can understand and respect his boundaries may be a good fit. We aren't sure how he feels about dogs. What Cotton needs most is a calm home, patient guidance, and someone willing to let him settle in at his own pace. In return, you'll get a truly unique cat with tons of personality, a heart of gold, and a second chance at the life he deserves. If you have a soft spot for the quirky ones, Cotton is waiting to meet you. 💕

Sky and Storm are a pair of beautiful lynx-point Siamese brothers that have a lot of love to give. They love their springs and fishing rod toys. They'll chase just about anything you throw for them. They want to be part of the action in your home. They are a bonded pair and would prefer to be adopted together. Sky will sleep at your feet and give you middle of the night wake-up pats on your face. Sky especially loves giving kisses. Sky loves to sprawl out at your feet to request belly rubs; it's not a trap. He's very outgoing and more likely to try to get on high furniture. He'll definitely stand in front of your computer while you're working if you let him. They've spent the last year and a half with a family that had dogs and realized they really don't love being around dogs. They are good with kids that can interpret cat signals.

Sky and Storm are a pair of beautiful lynx-point Siamese brothers that have a lot of love to give. They love their springs and fishing rod toys. They'll chase just about anything you throw for them. Storm is the chill half of the pair that may take longer to warm up to you but really wants to be quietly near you. He likes to nibble your hands when you give him pets. His belly is 100% a trap. They've spent the last year and a half with a family that had dogs and realized they really don't love being around dogs. They are good with kids that can interpret cat signals.

Meet Charlie! This very handsome guy sports a quirky mustache and a touch of Siamese crossed eyes. Which gives him the best of all features. Add to that is an amazing personality. Loves to be close to people and returns the affection with loud purrs. Would do well with other dogs or cats. He definitely is the whole package for a new home!
