Story
Sweet Pecas has so much love to give, she is just feeling a little nervous with her recent transition to the shelter and is looking forward to settling into a quiet home. Pecas prefers a hands off approach while she gets to know new people and her surroundings, and will likely benefit from a canine buddy in her new home to help show her the ropes. Once comfortable, Pecas loves romping with her friends, playing with toys, and lounging on the couch for movie nights! At this time, for her comfort, Pecas is recommended to go to a family with older children. Story
Hi there!  Mortimer here, checking in after arriving in Colorado! Im between 1 and 2 years old (no one ever told me my real birthday so the nice doctor at the vet's office took a guess) and the rescue people asked me to tell you a little bit about myself. I love tug of war!  I figured i would start with that since its really important that my new home like to play that with me.  I also like to play with other dogs, but can get a little scared if they are super loud and in my face at first.  I am "crate-trained" whatever that means, and enjoy these things called "leash walks" where i get to go out and smell and see new things.  My foster parents say that i have decent leash "manners". I've seen a cat a few times, and wasn't overly interested in it, but i have never lived with one, so I don't know how i would feel about that. I ended up in Colorado after someone dumped me in a very rural part of new Mexico.  A nice lady there found me and gave me food and water and shelter which was very nice, but she couldn't keep me so she found some nice people in Colorado to help me find a new forever home!  If i sound like the kind of dog you would like to hang out with fill out the application below and be sure to mention my name! Story
Dixie and Latigo come to us after their human dad passed and Dixie started escaping the yard on a regular basis. Their human mom recognized that she could not keep them safe and asked us to help. We of course said YES! Things they will need in their new home – a yard with a 6 foot fence. Normally we don’t require fences, but for these two a 6 foot fence is an absolute MUST. They will still try to get over it, but won’t be able to. They are still learning the finer points of being inside dogs, but are doing really well so far! Dixie is definitely the leader with these two – she’s first to try new things and Latigo will follow her. They are also learning about leash manners – and so far are doing really well!

Story
Meet Chevy! Chevy was picked up as a stray in southern Colorado, and after his stray hold was up the shelter contacted us to help. Chevy came in pretty beat up – he had several fly strikes on his muzzle and ears when he was found and was also very underweight. Upon arriving at the shelter, he vomited up several plastic bags, a clear sign he had been surviving on garbage for quite some time. Chevy was adopted and became Asher, unfortunately his adopters had some health issues that meant they could no longer take care of him so he came back to us! His favorite game is race car laps in a yard, so his next home will require a fenced yard. He attaches quickly to his people and wants to protect them, so a family who can help him learn that he doesn’t need to is a must. He also adores cats, so a home with a dog friendly kitty would be an added bonus! He is a champion snuggler who is perfectly happy to hang out with you (on or off the couch) while you binge the latest show. He will help you keep your counters clean of all things edible and check the trash for any wrappers that might have a tidbit on them, so a its important to be mindful of these things. he hasn’t lived with kids but has gotten along with kids that he met out and about.

Story
Babs is an absolute sweetheart at 18 months young. She came in after her owner decided her energy no longer matched his own. She is a pretty active girl that needs someone to continue to work on training with her. Her current foster mama says she is very sweet little tornado 🌪 💜. She weighs in around 110 lbs and still needs to be spayed and have her gastropexy before she is ready to be adopted out. However, she is available to meet. She does have some resource guarding we are working through when it comes to food, and she is still learning how to be polite on a leash.

Story
Meet Bruno, a gentle giant and a 4-year-old St. Bernard weighing in at exactly 100 pounds. Bruno is a friendly and sociable dog who gets along with most other dogs, although he particularly enjoys the company of female dogs. His love for people knows no bounds, and he has a special affection for children, though he should be placed in a home without small children or small dogs due to his tendency to resource guard his food. When it comes to mealtime, Bruno prefers his own space and should be fed separately from other animals to avoid any issues. It's important to note that he cannot be adopted into a home with cats. Bruno is up to date on all his vaccines, and if you decide to make him a part of your family, the rescue organization will cover the cost of his neutering. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will bring joy and warmth to your home, Bruno might just be the perfect match for you. Adopt Bruno and give him the forever home he deserves!
