Story
She was nervous neglected and matted when the shelter took her in mid Dec. Thanks to their volunteer foster home that took care of her. She did well with them and their small dog. Very sweet. Took some time for her to relax and trust. She is now shaved down and had her vet care. At first groomer she was fearful and nipped. Weeks later 2nd groomer was able to shave her down. Good on leash for walks. Her previous wonderful foster home could not keep her due to her move. She is now with our experienced and adult foster home for TLC. ð&#194&#159&#194&#146&#194&#156 More info and new photos to come. She is already doing fine with their two dogs. ð&#194&#159&#194&#152&#194&#141ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¶ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¶ See more adorable photos of Aimee on our Facebook! 3/11/26: Aimee is a sweet playful and affectionate little girl. Story
Meet Bear 🐻 Bear is a handsome, medium-energy guy who brings the perfect balance of companionship and independence. He’s leash trained and already knows “sit,” which makes him a wonderful walking buddy and a great foundation for continued training. Bear is food motivated, so he’s eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement — bring the treats and he’ll bring the focus! Bear can be dog selective and prefers slow, thoughtful introductions to new canine friends. He may do best as the only dog in the home or with a compatible match. He also has some resource guarding tendencies, so he’ll thrive with a confident, experienced owner who can provide clear structure and boundaries. Because of this, he’s best suited for a home with dog-savvy teens 13+ who understand how to respectfully interact with him. With the right guidance, Bear is a loyal, smart companion who will bond deeply with his people. If you’re looking for a trainable, devoted dog who will appreciate your leadership and return it with love, Bear might be your perfect match.

Story
Abby has been part of our family for about two years. We decided to adopt her at two months old when we found out she was going to the dog pound unfortunately due to landlord issues we have been obligated to try to find a good loving home for her. Abby is good around kids and typically get along with other dogs she does have an urge to jump on people due to her play for nature.

Story
(I'm being fostered in the East Bay)Goofy Walden, with his lanky frame and wise brown eyes, is a happy pup. Walden is energetic, yet he knows when it's time to settle down. He's super treat motivated, which makes training a breeze. He is also potty trained and great in the car! Walden loves long walks and is improving his leash manners each day; he is a little barky when he sees other dogs on walks but can usually be redirected pretty easily. When he gets excited, he can be a little vocal (aka barky) but his foster family notes that he is doing better each day at maintaining a calm attitude. The cutest thing about Walden is that you can often find him snoozing on his back in the most uncomfortable positions. Another cute thing is that he loves to gently rest his front paws on you and gaze into your eyes while you're standing when he wants some affection. It takes a little time for Walden to warm up to new people, but once you're in, he gives great eye contact, loves snuggling, and will follow you around eager to see what the gang is up to next. There are dogs of all sizes in Walden's foster home and he does great with the whole crew, although he can get a little rambunctious during play. Walden would make a great addition to a person or family looking for a playful pup who can meet new people at his own speed and join in on all of life's adventures. Story
This sweet little dog is looking for a loving new home. He weighs about 15 lb, is 4 years old, and is a neutered male. A DNA test shows he is a Poodle–Chihuahua mix. I adopted him from a shelter in February 2024, and he has been my wonderful companion for the past two years. Before I adopted him he unfortunately lost his right eye, but his big, bright left eye is incredibly expressive and adorable, giving him a unique charm. He has an amazing temperament — gentle, friendly, and very well-behaved. He travels great (car rides and even flights) and stays calm and quiet. He is also fully house-trained and waits patiently to go outside. Everyone who meets him says he is an “angel dog.” Sadly, I will soon be leaving the United States and cannot bring him with me. I hope to find him a loving and responsible home where he will continue to be cherished as part of the family.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650 Alf is a 1–2 year old Miniature Poodle-Shih Tzu mix weighing around 20 lbs, with a low-shedding (but not 100% non-shedding) coat and a huge, joyful personality. From the moment he arrived in foster care, Alf made it clear that he loves people and life itself. He greets the world like an old friend and brings a lot of humor, affection, and enthusiasm wherever he goes.   Alf thrives on a predictable daily routine. His day starts around 7:30am, when he comes out of his crate and heads straight to the backyard. He eats breakfast at 8am and then heads out for a walk. Depending on the day, that walk might be a quick neighborhood loop or a full-on adventure. Alf is equally happy with a short stroll or a six-mile hike. When he’s not outside with his people, he relaxes at home with access to a doggy door, happily moving between the house and yard. Dinner is at 7:30pm, and by 9pm he heads to his crate for the night, something he’s doing more and more voluntarily as he grows comfortable with it.   Personality-wise, Alf is an absolute goofball. He is friendly, outgoing, and confident with people, and showed zero shyness when meeting his foster family for the first time. He greeted everyone, an older resident dog, two kids, and adults, with openness and enthusiasm. Alf is affectionate and cuddly, loves kisses, and follows his people around with constant curiosity, eager to be part of whatever is happening. He enjoys playtime, especially tug-of-war, but he’s polite about it and won’t pester you to engage. You have to volunteer. He’s smart, learns quickly, and responds well to household rules. He’s energetic, inquisitive, and genuinely funny, with a personality that makes people smile without even trying. Alf can be a little sensitive at times, so it’s important his future family understands that. He may be vocal when he hears unfamiliar sounds like deliveries, squirrels, neighbor dogs, or anything that feels new or unexpected, but with calm redirection he settles fairly quickly. On leash, he can become overexcited or overwhelmed when he sees other animals, but he’s already made noticeable progress in a short amount of time and is very responsive to training. His behavior seems rooted in insecurity and uncertainty, not aggression, and with consistent guidance, reassurance, and positive reinforcement, Alf has excellent potential to continue gaining confidence.   In his foster home, Alf lives with a 12-year-old corgi mix and has had no conflicts at all. He learned quickly how to walk politely on a double leash, giving his canine companion space and adjusting his pace. Alf is also wonderful with children. He lives with a 9 and 4-year-old and handles their noise, movement, and excitement beautifully. He keeps a safe distance when needed but clearly wants to be included, and he tolerates petting, brushing, being picked up, and plenty of kid kisses with ease.   Alf is an energetic dog who is up for almost any activity whether it's walks, hikes, car rides, runs, or playtime. While he isn’t interested in balls, he loves tug-of-war and interactive engagement. When it’s time to settle, he’s happy to curl up in a lap during work time or while listening to bedtime stories.   He is housetrained and uses the doggy door well, though accidents can happen if access to the yard is closed. He initially found the crate frightening, but with patience and training, that has completely changed, and he now goes into his crate calmly at night with no issues. He shows his adaptability. Alf does not chew, dig, or destroy items, but he does bark occasionally at noises and passersby, which will benefit from continued training and confidence-building.   Alf’s ideal home is one where he is deeply loved and where his people are committed to helping him feel safe and secure in the world. He would do well with someone who has dog experience or is comfortable with training and behavior work. Whether with a single person or a family, with or without another dog, Alf will thrive with consistency, guidance, and affection.   What truly sets Alf apart is his heart. He may not be the flashiest dog at first glance, but he is incredibly charming, flexible, cheerful, and smart. He loves life intensely and wants nothing more than to share it with people who will love it alongside him. Alf is curious about everything, follows his humans everywhere, and happily sticks his nose into whatever is going on—because life is just too interesting to miss.March 7, 2026, 8:14 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Horseshoe and Wishbone are two of the “8 in a Crate,” 12–14 week old, 8 lb. Poodle mix puppies who have been fostered together as they’ve begun learning that the world can be safe and kind. Though they have Poodle in their mix, as evidenced by their curly coats, they do shed. What truly defines them, however, is their sweetness, friendliness, and enormous capacity for love.   These two little charmers greet people the way all puppies should—with wagging tails, bright eyes, and tiny kisses delivered with great enthusiasm. While they can be a little sensitive to sudden noises or big movements, their natural instinct is to connect with people and soak up affection. Pick them up and they melt right into you, happily accepting pets, cuddles, and the occasional smooch session.   They are also wonderfully social with other dogs and love meeting canine friends of all shapes and sizes. Big dogs, small dogs, fluffy dogs, scruffy dogs— they’re delighted to make new acquaintances. Their ideal homes will have a resident dog to show them the ropes, but they could be an option for a home that has prior experience with shy dogs and who is committed to continuing their training and socialization.   Horseshoe is usually the first to investigate something new and tends to be slightly more food-motivated - Stella and Chewy's treats are the way to his heart! Wishbone follows close behind with equal sweetness and affection, always happy to join in whatever adventure Horseshoe has already deemed safe. Both puppies are playful; they love tug toys, chew toys (they are very much in their teething phase), and gentle games with their people.   One thing their foster family has discovered is that these two are extremely good sports about dress-up. Sweaters? Fine. Little jackets? No problem. A silly costume or festive bandana? They will politely accept their modeling duties with patience and dignity— though they may request a cookie for their efforts. If you’ve ever dreamed of having a puppy who will tolerate your seasonal photo shoots, one of these two might be your perfect collaborators.   Their daily routine is already quite puppy-polished. They sleep through the night, eat free-choice, drink plenty of water, and are doing very well with potty training. They enjoy exploring outside and sniffing around the yard, but they naturally like to stay close to their people and check back in frequently.   What stands out most about Horseshoe and Wishbone is how deeply affectionate they are. They want to be near their people. They want reassurance, connection, and companionship. With a confident resident dog to guide them and a family committed to kindness and positive structure, each of these puppies will grow into a devoted, loving companion.   They may start out a little sensitive— but with wagging tails, puppy kisses, and a willingness to wear the occasional ridiculous outfit, they’re more than ready to charm their way into someone’s heart.March 11, 2026, 9:13 pm
