Story
Tommy is a healthy, gorgeous and sweet, four-year-old, 11.7-pound, male, golden-eyed, orange and white tabby cat looking for a loving guardian. Tommy has tested positive for feline leukemia (FeLV) so he can only live with cats who also carry the virus, or with dogs! He is actually living at a doggie daycare and is absolutely fine with dogs. Tommy is well-behaved in the home and great with his litter box. With those he loves, Tommy is quite sweet and snuggly. He loves ipad games and hanging out with his favorite people. He’s also very talkative and engaging. His ear tip acknowledges that he was TNR’d (trapped, neutered and released). Tommy is vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and microchipped. FeLV is a type of virus that can spread via saliva, feces, urine and milk. Some cats are born with the virus; it can also spread through cat colonies. To meet and possibly adopt Tommy, please fill out an adoption application https://friendsofpetraits.com/cat-adoption-application/ After the application is complete, please contact friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to schedule an appointment to meet him. His adoption fee of $175 has been sponsored by the Friends of Petraits Rescue. He is being fostered in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

Story
Oscar is an orange and white striped Tabby. This little guy was found and brought to our local animal care and control in early September 2024. His birthday is guesstimated to be around September 1st. He and his littermates: Ashley, Billy, Bob, Blue, Fox, Jeff, and Smoke joined our rescue on September 27, 2024. Oscar is currently living in a home with other cats and dogs. Oscar spends his day playing hide and seek. He is a quiet cat. He is litter box trained and not very needy. His favorite time of the day is meal-time. Adoption Process Caring Animal Rescue Inc believes that every animal deserves a good home, but we also believe that not every animal is right for every home. We take the time to learn about an animal's behavior and match it with the lifestyle of potential adopters. All applicants must submit an online adoption application. You must provide verifiable vet references, verifiable address match, and character references. If you list that you are the owner of a home, we will verify property records. If you list that you are a tenant, we will verify that pets are allowed on your lease agreement with your tenant. By applying to adopt, you are agreeing that we have permission to contact your vet, landlord, and character references. If you do not agree with our screening process, please do not apply. Applicants must agree to our screening processes before a meet and greet, and at-home visit is scheduled. All existing animals within the home must be up to date with vaccinations and spayed/ neutered. All kittens under 9 months old will be adopted in pairs unless there is an existing cat in the home. Completing our application does not guarantee that you will be matched with one of our animals. We are under no obligation to disclose our reason(s) for our decision. Please note: Our adoption fees will vary. Our Adoption Process: 1. Please apply here: https://www.caringanimalrescueinc.com/adoption-form We require applications to be completed in their entirety. Any application with questions not answered fully will not be considered complete and will not be processed. 2. Please note that we are volunteers. We do not have any paid staff. All applications are processed outside of our normal non-rescue jobs. An application does not guarantee approval of adoption. Our decision is based on what is the best fit for our dogs and cats. We will call your character references, landlord if applicable, as well as your vet and any other necessary calls needed to approve or deny an application. 3. Phone or email interview. We will notify you if your application is approved. 4. Meet and greet - we will only schedule meet and greets for those who have passed steps 1-3. We ask that you come to our facility for the initial meet and greet. If you have children, roommates, or other dogs, they must also be present. 5. Home visit/ Pet meet and greet - we want to make sure that all humans and pets are a good match! Due to the requirement of home visits, we are currently adopting only 25 miles or less of our location. The distance is at our discretion, as we must factor in gas and round-trip travel time. We are not currently adopting out-of-state. We have chosen a small radius near our facility to provide support to our adopted animals and their new families. Caring Animal Rescue Inc. does not have any paid staff. All monies, adoption fees, donations, etc., go directly to paying for the shelter and care of the animals in our rescue. If all goes well at the home visit, the pet can stay, and we will move on to step 6. 6. Adoption Finalization - sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee - we accept cash, checks, Venmo, or PayPal. Please note that there is an additional processing fee for PayPal and Venmo. What does your adoption fee cover? Dogs: Age-appropriate vaccinations such as Rabies ( must be 3-4 months of age determined by our vet), DA2PP, and Bordetella. Spay/ Neuter Heartworm Snap Test for dogs 6 months and older. Microchip Deworming Flea/Tick, HW meds, and antibiotics (if needed) while in our care. Cats Age-appropriate vaccinations such as Rabies ( must be 3-4 months of age, determined by our vet) and FVRCP vaccinations. Story
Beauty DOB: 6/3/25 Beauty is a bonded pair with her brother Sterling — they must be adopted together, and the adoption fee covers both cats. This beautiful girl is so perfectly named. Beauty is currently living her best life in her foster home, and while she is a more reserved kitten who takes time to build trust, she is VERY sweet and special — and absolutely worth the wait. She loves hiding spots when she needs a little space, and perches up high on the cat tree to survey her kingdom and soak up a sunny spot. Bird watching is one of her favorite pastimes. Beauty loves roughhousing and chasing her brother Sterling, and the two of them together are pure joy to watch. She has a sweet morning routine — rubbing against her foster mom’s legs while she brushes her teeth, just to remind her that it’s wet food time. She enjoys laser pointers, scratching posts, bells, feathers, and cat wands. She may take a while to feel fully at home, but once she does, she will sneak into bed with you at night and make herself right at home beside you. One more thing that makes her extra special: Beauty doesn’t meow — she squeaks! She gets along with other cats and is looking for a patient, loving home alongside her brother Sterling.
