Story
Our poor 2 year old female, Honey has been through a lot. We rescued her from a house with 30-40 cats of all different ages fending for themselves, with 2 litter boxes and only a few bowls of water and food. We found her as this calm little baby, but we knew her calm was because she was giving up. We brought her immediately to our vet and nursed her back to full health. She was separated from our 2 male cats for the month, because of ear mites and other problems that we’d addressed with vet. After that month the three cats mended and bonded so well, and she was the missing link to our family we didn’t know we needed. Then our son was born, and the trauma of her past came back, as we introduced an unpredictable small human (she’d never met kids) into the home. At first, she seemed well. After 6 months, we realize his presence brought out her past. Skittish, hides for days, won’t come out to eat. Will pee where she’s hiding, from fear of coming out. We’ve tried everything, help :( <\3

Story
Janet and Jazzi are sweet and loving 4-5 year old sisters. While they need a little time to adjust to a new situation, once they know you, their personalities blossom. Playing, snuggling, chatting and following you around is what you can expect. They love to snuggle together especially on the bed with a heating pad. In the foster home there are two Golden Retriever dogs that Janet and Jazzi have seen through a gate. Neither seemed stressed when they sniffed through a gate, so they should be comfortable with a calm, cat friendly dog. There is also a toddler in the foster home. Janet and Jazzi like her when she’s quiet, but tend to keep their distance if she gets too loud for them. Janet loves to greet you with a little meow every time you walk in the room. She always runs right up for pets and if you’re sitting down, will go nose to nose with you for a boop. Friskies treats are her favorite thing. Once she hears the bag crinkle, she comes running from wherever she is. Her foster will place them in different spots on the cat tree for Janet to find. Janet enjoys playing with all different kinds of toys and watching birds out the window. At nighttime, she will snuggle up in bed with you and make sure you know she’s there with plenty of nose boops. She loves her sister, Jazzi, and they must go home together. All cats & kittens are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, fixed, and tested FeLV/FIV negative. Adoption fee is a minimum $85 per cat donation to Feral Fixers. Discounted adoption fee if two cats are adopted together, $150 for a pair. A brief screening questionnaire and contract apply! If you are interested in meeting and adopting one of our cats please email: gotfriendlies@gmail.com Our cats and kittens are in private foster homes and need a completed questionnaire before an appointment can be made to meet them. Story
Lotsa Meows has lotsa love to share! He’s a handsome brown tabby boy with a unique mix of swirls and stripes, and a stunningly handsome face. He is friendly and loves to play and make new friends. He runs to see his foster parents when they come home from work, and likes to enjoy the company of the household. He is 100% pure joy, and will love and adore you every minute of the day. When it’s time to sleep, Lotsa likes to snuggle up with his foster mom and snore (yes, he snores!) softly and peacefully. Lotsa enjoys a good meal and is not picky about food. He likes to chase little mouse toys and bat at the string on a wand toy. Lotsa also loves his little sister, Lollie, and together they chase and wrestle, and then settle in for a nap. They have a favorite napping spot on a blue chair, and he is a good big brother who sleeps on the outside, protecting her while she snoozes. She hides behind him when they have visited the vet, and he takes good care of his little sister. They would like to find a home together! They both enjoyed making friends with the resident cats in their foster home, and were loving, playful and affectionate from the beginning. They both learned how to use the One Fast Cat Wheel, and the Litter Robot in their foster home. They are smart cookies, and will be a delightful addition to a lucky family! All cats & kittens are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, fixed, and FeLV/FIV tested. Adoption fee is a minimum $110 per kitten donation to Feral Fixers. Discounted adoption fee if two kittens are adopted together, $175 for a pair. A brief screening questionnaire and contract apply! Story
Introducing Arica! Born in late April 2025, Arica is a beautiful, brown tabby girl with a playful spirit and a gentle heart. She loves chasing springs, balls, and crinkly toys, especially when her brother Arnie. Arica is the adventurous one of the bunch, always curious and exploring. She purrs when petted and has the sweetest little meows when she wants your attention. She needs a minute to get comfortable with new people and isn’t a fan of loud noises. However, once she feels comfortable, she is your best friend. She would thrive in a quieter home with school-aged children or older, and would love to be adopted with her brother, Arnie, her friend, Rosemary, or into a home with another friendly cat or kitten who enjoys running around and having lots of fun. Are you ready to add a little love and playfulness to your life? Arica is waiting for you! All cats & kittens are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, fixed, and FeLV/FIV tested. Story
Is your cat looking for a buddy?!? Then look no further, as I am your guy! My name is Hoagie and I am a very handsome longer fur 4 month old grey and white tabby boy. I am still building my courage in my interaction with the humans in my foster home, but I so desperately want to make friends with the other cats. I love to play with wand toys and recently learned to play fetch with my fish toy! The best way to earn my affection is through food and treats. I promise that once I am comfortable, I will not disappoint. My foster family has enjoyed my wonderful purr motor as I rolled around and showed my belly during petting sessions. It took me awhile to get comfortable enough to do this, but it will happen again for a lucky family in a quieter home with patience and understanding. Story
PittyPat is a super curious, sweet and playful tabby kitty girl. She loves to chase any toy and loves attention, walking behind her foster mom's head and rubbing against her fingers to be loved. She even tucks herself in under her foster mom's head like a pillow. Whether she is coming to get petted, to play, or to eat, PittyPat is constantly purring. She wears a collar to distinguish herself from her slightly lighter tabby sister, Pippa, but you won’t have trouble recognizing her, as she will be in the front trying to get the frilly toy or toy mouse! She and Pippa greet her foster mom at the door of the kitten room. PittyPat likes her siblings and the housecat, and would enjoy being adopted with her sister, Pippa, or into a home with a welcoming resident cat. She will do best in a quieter home, and will need time to adjust to any changes. She needs to learn to trust you before you will really see who she is. Once she gets to know you, she will want to be held, played with and talked to, and she will become your loyal and loving companion. All cats & kittens are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, fixed, and FeLV/FIV tested. Adoption fee is a minimum $110 per kitten donation to Feral Fixers. I enjoy a good petting session and plenty of attention—until I’ve had my fill. Then I’ll strut off, tail held high, ready for my next big adventure. If you’re looking for a bold, playful companion who will keep you smiling with his antics and charm, I’m your guy. Story
Hi! I’m Finch — a chatty, playful little guy who loves being held and carried around like the spoiled sweetheart I am. I’m a big fan of toy balls and tiny mice, and I have a special hobby: dropping my toys into the water bowl. I keep hoping they’ll swim… but they just float. Still fun, though! My siblings usually gather to watch me drop my toys in the bowl. It’s our bonding time! When I’m not splashing around to hunt my toys or playing around the house, you’ll find me stationed by a window keeping track of everything happening outside. I also love to playfully pester the others while looking completely innocent. It’s a talent. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, talkative companion with a big personality, I’d love to meet you!Almost Home adopts kittens under 6 months of age in pairs, as kittens that young are not fully socialized and need a same/similar-age playmate in order not to become a nuisance to family members—including other pets in the home. Adopting kittens in pairs allows them to complete the kitty socialization process, learn good kitty manners, and have a playmate so their humans can sleep at night. We consider adopting single kittens to applicants who have another young kitty under 1 year of age, provided the applicant’s kitten is up to date on all age-appropriate vetting.Almost Home`s Adoption Requirements:* Be at least 21 years of age* Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household* Have written approval from owner of residence* Have a valid government-issued photo ID with current address* Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Almost Home Foundation* Be ready to make a lifetime commitment* Live in the greater Chicagoland area (Illinois residents only)* Pass a veterinarian reference check for current and past petsIf you are interested in Finch & a sibling, please complete an online adoption application at https://almosthomefoundation.org/adopt/adopt-a-cat/ or email cats@almosthomefoundation.org.*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, checks, or Zelle for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
