Story
This is Ben! Ben is a 10-ish year old, Yorkie mix that weighs about 12 lbs. Ben is, ummm, well, he’s an a$$hole. Ben first joined MHCR a couple months ago as my foster and I was convinced I could fix him. He had been with another rescue and had moved between foster homes, trainers, and boarding. He had a laundry list of medical issues including a heart murmur, rotten teeth, cherry eye, to name a few. Surely after he’s feeling better with pearly whites he’ll love me, right? WRONG! Ok, maybe once he settles in after a few weeks he’ll come around, right? WRONG! The only time Ben is happy to see me is when I’m making him food or taking him for a walk or a ride. He LOVES walks and car rides. Lives for them. He adores my teenage kids and husband when they come home from school and work. He gets so excited to see them and he dances and twirls. It’s so dang cute you just want to bend right over and squish his adorable face. DON’T! You must resist the urge. Ben doesn’t want to be touched. He’ll allow you to leash him and for the first few weeks it’s advised that he drags one around hooked to his harness. Once every couple of days I can scratch him on the head, especially in the morning when he’s excited to go outside. I get ONE chance. If I flinch, he nails me. Ben is crate trained, but he must be covered while in his crate. He gets very angry if he’s being looked at while he’s in there. He asks to go outside. He walks great on a leash and would enjoy daily walks in his new home. Ben lives with a variety of dogs. He does fine with all of them but he really could do without the puppy. Ben is NOT a lap dog. He is not a source of companionship. Ben is for someone who wants to provide a nice life for a totally unadoptable dog. To go to the vet he needs a muzzle. To be groomed, he needs a muzzle. To be muzzled he needs bite gloves. Don’t adopt him thinking you will love this out of him. A series of humans in his past undoubtedly made him this way and now it’s just how he’s wired. Please do not apply if you have young children unless you don’t particularly like them. Ben is not an aggressive dog, per se. We’ve lived very peacefully together for the last couple of months as long as I keep my hands (and feet) to myself. Ben is in foster in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/ben-2/. Story
I’ve recently relocated for work and do not have time to care for my yorkie. He was my daughter’s dog, but she just recently went to college. King was born in 2016 and is up to date on all shots. He is somewhat Kennel trained but has recently been having potty accidents due to not being taken out timely each day. I’m just looking for someone who has time to care for him.

Story
Rusty is a 9(ish) year old adorable little man weighing about 10lbs.  Rusty is a spicy little boy and we could not be more obsessed with him.  He was adopted from us a couple years back and he really ruled the roost in his home.  The couple was older and they just wanted a dog to lay around with them all day and he was not that dog.  He became sassy, and while the wife absolutely loved him, the husband said he had to go.   Since Rusty had absolutely no training while he was with them we decided to board and train him to get his big personality under wraps and to get him the training and exercise he deserved.  Since Rusty did our board and train program we are going to require he goes to a family who will take our training classes so they can learn everything that Rusty has learned. It is 100% free to the adopters which is an amazing deal, for people who want to learn more about dogs and how to help them succeed!  Rusty is an awesome little guy.  He loves to go for walks and he can be very talkative.  He lots to trot around the yard with a big smile on his face.  He is an adorable little oldman and will bring so much joy to his forever family! If you are interested in Rusty, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##1773501##

Story
Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogIf you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Leo, and I am a little Yorkie boy who is 8 years old, and I weigh 6 pounds. I need an all-adult home with one full-time parent and a sibling my size to learn from would be ideal. If you have been waiting for a sweet Yorkie boy, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Leo 061723-13  September 30, 2023, 5:38 pm

Story
This sweet, spunky, full-of love, blind girl is looking for an mom/dad who is agile, quick on their feet, can carry 15 lbs with ease, is willing to stay outside while Lacey goes potty and loves to snuggle on the couch. Lacey Is potty trained but gets nervous by herself and won't go potty unless you wait for her. She gets excited and does circles in front of you and sometimes right into your legs. She loves to burrow in blankets, is food motivated and has quite a personality! She might do ok with a very easygoing quiet dog, but would do better as the only dog. She loves to wrestle gently with her owner when she hasn’t seen them in a while and tends to be mouthy but doesn’t bite. She learns her environment well but does fall down or off stairs when she is distracted or if things are moved around.
